After installing PMDG 747, I notice when I start FS9 from XP, and before the "create a flight" menu appears, I get a strange digital bleeping noise--literally lasts and sounds like a "bleep"...everything loads/operates normally. Just a bit disconcerting. What would possibly cause this? ThanksF15Driver

With an upgraded computer I use the VC of all aircraft most of the time. The overhead lighting in the 1900 C & D seems to be non existant making the VC panels dim and difficult to see instruments clearly during daylight.Have I missed a switch or is there something I can do to improve this.Richard

Hi,I know this is an MD-11, but anyway.....I tried this scenario (all hydraulics out) and flew using just the engines only (I failed HYD 3 and got the HYD 3 ELEV OFF memo). I then manually failed systems 1 and 2, shutdown engine #2, and proceeded to fly via the power only.WOW!!!!! You've got to try this! Best with hardware throttles, but with selection of the engines being dead easy in the MD-11 (don't worry about the engine select bug!), it was fine with single throttle.I landed it, too. You've got to try this!Only thing I did find was that I could still steer in both directions.Best regards,Robin.

After I set up my old PC (Windows XP) and FS2004 from scratch last summer, I decided to install only what I really need to avoid getting in trouble once more. I ended up with only two planes, the FeelThere EMB Jets series and Digital Aviation's Fokker 70/100.Since both aircraft are at reasonable service pack levels today, they're pretty much flyable and I use them regularily. Having a strong Boeing background (who does not?) it's always a kind of "refreshing experience" learning to master the FMS and onboard systems of such "alien" planes ;-).This weekend, I put the PMDG 737NG series aircraft onto my hard drive again. They were hangared for much too long! Having tuned eve…

VR Insight has a MCP combo they claim is compatable with the PMDG 737 and 744. I was wondering if this is true or if anyone knows any info on this product. I saw the panel offer at Sim Ware Simulations.Ray

Everytime I load the MD-11, the display unit shows "Oil Pres Lo" right off the bat for all engines. I understand that this is a complex simulation/airliner, even though many of the systems are automated; however, I failed to find anything that I am doing wrong through the checklists. Even if i start under one of the default "long/short ground turn" PMDG panel states and follow the procedures, after I attempt to start the engines, I still get this warning, and the engines are not running properly. In addition, I realize there are many postings on this forum everyday, and that it is difficult to answer all questions. Thus, it is important that the person seeking such questi…

Hi,During my first vatsim flight with the MD-11 I experienced some strange behavior with the AIR system. The AIR system was operating in automatic mode and after 15 minutes at cruise altitutde I received a master caution, AVNCS FAN OVRD alert and "Cabin Altitude" aural alert.I checked the AIR page on the SD to find that the system controller had turned off all 3 engine bleeds and all 3 packs. I switched the AIR system into manual mode, opened the Bleeds and started the Packs which allowed the cabin pressure to return to normal. If I rengaged automatic mode however the system would once again command the Packs to turn off and the Bleeds to close. I completed the flight…

Hi everyone,I just take off from NZAA, destination NTAA, with the B744 (updated AIRAC, some weeks ago without problem).10 minutes after t/o, during climb, I wanted to have a look at Arrival STARS BUT the FMC proposes me NZAA arrival procedures ?!I checked in PROG: NTAA is well set as destination.1- Any idea what is wrong ?2- Is there a way in DEP/ARR to force the FMC to display NTAA STARS ?Looking to reading you,Emmanuel.

Hi, I hope someone can help with this little problem I have.I am using PMDG's excellent 747 for FSX and am loving it, apart from something that has me tearing my hair out. When attempting to review a flight using FSX's buit in video facility all I get is a patch of burning oil on the runway!!Maybe related or not but when using the instant replay facility aircraft displays correctly apart from there is no simulation of flap deployment even though they are fully extended.I have reinstalled FSX and the PMDG 747 having suffered from the see through plane syndrome and this seem not to have re-occured thankfully.Running Windows Vista 32bit with UTX Europe, FEX, some landclass an…

Having mastered the MD-11 sufficiently to arrive in the vicinity of a chosen airport I need to understand how to select the appropriate STAR for a selected runway.I understand the need of a chart showing our route to the airport. And that this chart makes it clear where we intersect with the various STARs thus making it possible to select the best STAR.Therefore the relevant questions, I assume, are:1. What is the description of the chart that includes our route?2. How do we use this chart?3. Which is the most suitable chart source? I have looked at the following sources.

Hi all,I suppose I'm doing like the most of you, I get the AIRAC cycles through Navigraph. My experience is unfortunately that the procedure data quality regarding a lot of airports is bad and also can be buggy. As for the buggy data this means the FMC will report errors.I would like to have an open mind on this issue - just in case there exists some good acceptable explanation that will beat off my little attack here.......My question is of course if more of you also experience bad procedure-strings from the Navigraph airport text-files.I just get a little excited when I pay for something that gives me a hard time to fix in order to have it working realistic. For the recor…

Hi,Could someone please confirm whether or not 737-800/900 must be installed before or after 747-400 QOS to run properly. I have both sims on installations disks as separate products (not download installations from PMDG) but am having problems in getting the 737 installed. Thanks in advance.Cheers,Guy

Hey guys.Just a quick one for ya...I own both the PMDG 747-400X (Absolutely incredible in every facet), and the MD-11 (Stunning!) and have a small problem. I have been "perusing" the forum and have seen lots of topics related to the issues I have been having, but one still boggles me.First of all, I am running FSX on Vista 64 bit with 2 X 280 GTX cards and a quad core OC'd to 3.6. I am using the DX10 "preview".I originally had the 747 installed, and after installing the MD-11, as advertised I had some major issues. The 747 became unusable, so I did what all good simmers did and came to the forum. The best advice I got was to uninstall both the MD-11 and 747, and delet…

Hi there again chapsAnother perhaps arcane question - hopefully these posts are not too off-topic in this forum?Does anyone know of some sort of list or directory or anything really taht details the countries/airspaces currently using RVSM. I know the majority do, but I noticed a few such as Pakistan, Iran and Arghanistan aren't using these regulations. I just wondererd if there were others that I wasn't aware of. I know parts of Africa are becoming RVSM presently etc. but my knowledge is rather hotch-potch.Does anyone have a direction they could point me in (except for a home for the chronically tedious) in terms of some sort of "list"?RegardsRudy

Hi All:I had a complete computer crash and after doing a complete re-install of everything(fs9) the B747-400 does not follow the magenta line during a flight. The plane seems to be pointed at a 45 degree angle to the magenta line. I am wonder if has something to do with the navdata. I had never updated to the 2.1 or whatever the last update number was until now and I believe that is the version I downloaded to re-install.Any help would be appreciated.RegardsRickAvsim Deputy Library DirectorAvsim Online!

Hi chapsWas flying in from SIN yesterday (in FS that is) and decided to do a hold or two. I know that LHR has "descending" holding stacks where you enter the hold at a certain flight level and circle around in your hold descending as you go, for example LAM Lambourne. My questions were, if anyone knows:1) How do ATC define the descent? Do you reckon it's in feet per minute? Or do they just say lose a certain amount of altitude in each "circle"?2) Do you reckon V/S mode would be the best way? I imagine FLCH or VNAV will be a bit steep?3) What sort of typical altitudes would you start in a holding stack? I believe you generally descend down to about 7000' before getting…
