Hi Everyone,I am loving the Md-11!!!A big thanks to the guys from PMDG.Just a quick question that I remember reading in a post in the "MD11 Questions? Fire away" thread. The post read, "The center gear can be stowed for landing if the airport has A/C weight/footprint restrictions. Its not meant for deferrals, nor is it often used."Is this possible with the PMDG MD-11?If so, how does one go about it? I have been scouring the manuals, but can't seem to find anything. Thanks,Greg PalmerFALA

According to page 44 of the introduction manual, I am supposed to be able to switch off "Momentum Effect" by making a small change to the "Views.cfg" file that should be found within my vista directory at users/name/AppData/Roaming/Microsoft/FSX".I do not have this file.I have a file called "Cameras.cfg" that has an section within it called "CameraDefinition.002" (which is what I am supposed to be making the change to) so I assume that is the file. However, get this, I make the change but it has NO effect. So if anyone can help me out I would appreciate it.Many thanks in advance.Stuart

Heads up: There are new runways opening 20 Nov at KIAD Washington Dulles, KORD Chicago O'Hare, KSEA Seattle-Tacoma and KCLT Charlette has its runways renumbered. This cycle will be a good time to update your NAVDATA.... too bad we don't have new sceneries to go with all this new concrete. Cycle 0812 starts 20 Nov.

Good morning.Excuse me if this is not strictly a question referred to PMDG, but my old stick that has given me so good PMDG 737 and 747 moments is asking for a replacement.I've seen that Saitek and Thrustmaster have recently launched two new products. Any of you got info about them?. Could I get some help in the choice?. Thanks. Here they are:http://www.amazon.co.uk/Thrustmaster-T-Fli...e/dp/B001DMUCAChttp://www.amazon.com/Saitek-PS38-Cyborg-X...k/dp/B001EYU1VO

Hello all ... I would like to "re"purchase the B1900D (since I can't find what I did with the last one I bought) and install it on my PC again. The problem is that I now only have FSX installed (no hint of FS9 remains on my PC).If I buy the B1900D, will it install on my PC without finding FS9 and will it convert for use with FSX as explained on the PMDG website? Anyone using the B1900D with everything working in FSX?Thanks.

Hello All,I downloaded the MD-11 paintkit this past weekend in hopes to maybe make some of my own edits. I see that on the PMDG website these files say they are compatible with Jasc Paint Shop Pro. I'm a Paint Shop Pro 8 user myself and it has met all of my image projects in the past, FS and otherwise (have never really had the need or cash to purchase Adobe PhotoShop). When I open the various paint kit files with Paint Shop Pro v8.1, I receive an error saying "The PSD file contains unsupported features." While the file does indeed open and looks as I'd expect it, it looks like the layers become lost, leaving simply the aircraft on a "background" image. This makes it…

Does anybody know why, when the ATS on the MD11 is engaged but inhibited it is called "CLAMP" mode? It's seems like a funny term to use when you consider what is actually happening. Is it something to do with the mechanism that prevents the servos from engaging? The word "Clamp" seems to imply that the throttles are gripped or locked and can't be moved, when in fact full manual control is possible.Anyway, just interested.Martin Neep

HiI have come across some references to a Boeing 747-300 Trijet which Boeing apparently considered back in the 70's. Would have been the same S-duct design as the 727. Apparently the wings would have required a major rework and the hump interfered with the airflow into what would have been the rear center engine...Anyone perhaps know how true, or not, this is? I cannot find any reference to it on Boeing's website.A picture of the proposed 747-300 Trijet:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/194252.jpgWeird looking thing!Konrad

Does anyone know why the McDonnel Douglas Corporation was the only trijet airliner manufacturer in histroy to use the straight-through (or tube) rear engine design on both the DC-10 and MD-11? Every other trijet airliner ever built (Trident, B727, Tristar, Tu-154, Yak-42) are all S-duct designs. Even the smaller regional jets like the Yak-40 and Falcon are all S-ducts.Thing is that as far as I can gather the S-duct design is generally more complex and therefore more costly than the tube design so one would expect more manufacturers to have gone with the tube?I suspect that the popularity and sheer numbers of the Boeing 727 (1832 built) had a lot of influence not only on L…

Hi, The PMDG update for FSX V.2.10 is suppose to remove the silly tire vapor trail that you get when the runway is wet. Well I still get that annoying animation even after installing the update. Is there a solution?Roger B

Hi GuysI did post this in the 'Hangar Chat' forum, but it's had no response. So, thought i'd ask the experts:-) I *think* I once read somewhere that all aircraft on the IGS13 apprach were automatically expected to fly one left hand circuit at CH. Only now I cant find that reference.Didi I dream it, or was that how it was?

I start the sim and the cockpit appears however there are grey boxes covering all the MCP controls and none of the cockpit controls or icon boxes respond to mouse inputs. So-in essence, I cannot do anything with the aircraft. This is with FS9 on Vista.Roger Curtiss
