I've noticed that PMDG decided to remove the silly rain/snow animations from the 747-400X but has kept them in for the MD-11X. Why did you guys decide to leave these animations in for MD-11X?

After touch down I can't always turn the autothrottle off and consequently sometimes cannot land.As "Z" doesn't serve the purpose I try to activate one of the small black buttons on each side of the throttles (shown in the attachment). However nothing happens.Advice would be appreciated.Cliff

  5. What do I have to do to get the PMDG MD-11 Flight management computer to recognize Kai Tak? I have found nav data for VHHX on a few web sites, but when I try to add those entries into the PMDG navdata folders, I get a message saying windowsa won't save the folder. I have Vista 64

OK, this problem is sort of hard to explain so I made a video for it. On the ND, ever since I downloaded and installed the new AIRAC, my aircraft won't follow the flight plan and the map is shaking and switching directions. Today, I tried doing a flight from KATL to KMIA. When I took off, I switched on VNAV to follow the SID and it started turning North. This mainly happens on the east coast. When I'm flying in Canda, let's say, it will follow the magenta line, yet the aircraft icon thingy (triangle, can't remember the name right now) is sideways following the FP about 10 miles off the route but going in the right direction. I have tried hitting the "d" key already, that …

If I understand "ABEAM" correctly the FMS should draw a line at a 90 degree angle from a fix to the FMS course. However, as the attachment shows this doesn't always happen. Note that my present position is actually closer to the fix than the abeam point ahead.Am I missing something, or did I actually find a bug in this otherwise incredibly bug-free initial release of the MD-11?Tom

Hello simmers,First of all let me say I'm a proud costumer of your product! Now, let's get to business.... I always fly the NG offline and I love having AI Traffic around and not being alone. Next to that, having a functioning TCAS warning me for other traffic is a really nice feature to have. I always plan my entire route at departure airport, including arrival and approach procedure. That way I only have to print the charts I'll use during my landingprocedure (for the selected runway). Ofcourse, using FS9 ATC with the 737 isn't much of an option since I use the real-life procedures in the charts. The problem is that ATC doesn't know I'm around since I fly independent of…

The MD-11 is a wonderful aircraft with so much automation that it very quickly becomes utterly boring to fly. So I've enabled failures, and on this particular flight I got hit by a complete loss of hydraulic fluid in system 2. That caused some excitement since apparently AP1 depends on this system in some way and so disconnected.Anyway, one of the consequences displayed on the SD CONSEQ page is "FLAPS MAY NOT EXTN > MAX LDG WT". It makes sense that the ability to extend flaps is reduced with the loss of a hydraulic system, but what is the connection to landing weight? If someone could explain this message I would be grateful.TomFYI, the complete list of consequences wa…

Ok what am I doing wrong. I am trying to allocate a key command to call up the FMC in a sub screen when in the VC. I am using the keyboard command link in the PMDG menu within the addon tab. I have assigned a key command and nothing is happening. Any ideas? I have this idea that I am going to kick myself when I find out.... :( regardsJustin

  12. The dreaded OOM is back. :( This is in WinXP 32 bit, with the /3GB switch. Hasn't happened with anything besides the MD-11, but I'm not blaming the plane. I do have a fair amount of AI traffic, and all the UTXs, FEX, GEX, blah blah blah. So I'm sure I just overloaded the poor thing.I have a copy of Vista 64 bit that I just haven't installed for various reasons. Will switching to Vista 64 bit help? I got rid of it a long time ago because of the fact that few addons worked with it, and driver support at the time was garbage. Is Vista 64 bit recommended to be rid of this problem? I have 4GB of physical RAM in my machine.Thanks,-stefan

I think I've pretty much got everything down in the PMDG 737 except the approach. I'm still using the default MSFS2004 ATC by the way. Example :I was doing a flight today from Bangkok (VTBD) to Chiang Mai (VTCC) and when ATC told me to turn left heading blah blah expect vectors ILS rwy 36 Approach, I checked the FMC and went to the Dep Arr page and chose the Rwy 36 ILS Approach on it. Upon executing it, I got a route discontinuity. For some reason it would let me copy a waypoint to fix it. Anyways, I decided to fly the plane the way I did for the default and overland 737's which is by just using heading hold and picking the heading. When it was time to intercept the Local…

A quick question regarding the automatic tuning of VORs / DMEs in enroute operations. In most aircraft, the autotuning function will select two different navaids (whenever possible) to provide IRU position updating via a bearing/distance "cross-fix". This is the case with the PMDG 747, as well as other high-end add-ons that simulate this function.I have noted that the MD11 always, without exception, auto-tunes the both #1 and #2 Nav receivers to the same VOR/DME station. The selected navaid continuously changes as the aircraft proceeds along its route, but I have yet to see the auto-tune function tune the two receivers to two different stations at the same time.Is this no…

Could anyone tell me how to work out the decision height or MDA from the charts from the UK AIP?Here's an example: http://www.nats-uk.ead-it.com/aip/current/...EGKK_8-1_en.pdfIt gives the different categories but not for DH..instead it gives the OCA - I don't even know what this means....Also..once I have the DH or MDA, do I use the radio or barometric knob to set it in the 747?Thanks,Robert T

Can't get reverse thrust to work on my installation. I'm using a CH throttle quadrant with each individual throttle assigned to a CH lever. There are 6 levers on the CH, I'm using the first 3. The 4th would be for the 747 and stays in idle. 5 and 6 are assigned to mixture and prop pitch for other aircraft. Hitting F2 has no reaction. I can check correct travel in control panel>game controllers but can't see how to calibrate the throttle quadrant because it's impossible to know where the mid position is as there's no center detent and there are 3 throttles so how do I calibrate all of them?In virtual cockpit the throttles are all correctly shown at idle and when moving …

The 737NGX has been coming soon for a long time. I have recently given up FS9, with which I flew the excellent NG almost exclusively, in favour of Vista and FSX. I would like to know whether PMDG still expects to release the NGX or whether I should accept I will have to get busy flying another airplane for the foreseeable future.Peter.
