  1. Hi all, just bought a new pc to replace my "old" laptop (MSI GT780DXR with i7 2670, 8GB Ram and GTX570M) with following config: Intel i7-3770, 8 GB Ram, 256 GB SSD, Palit Geforce 680 GTX with 2GB VRam, Win7 64bit (Asrock Z77 Mainboard). I thought that this system would rock X-Plane 10 (10.20) and there would be a great framerate... -_- Nothing! At all! It's even slower than my "old" laptop! High details, no HDR anitaliasing and ONLY 15-20fps at KSEA airport!!! I installed the newest drivers for the graphiccard and everything is up-to-date. What am I doing wrong? Please help! I just love X-Plane 10! Cheers, Nasszelle PS.: All other ga…

I have to give a brief history...I have used sims since 1989 for every facet of training for rw flying. From wind corrections, basic maneuvers, xwind control practice in 1989, to terrain awareness to new airports with Pro pilot in the 90's, to ifr training with ift pro in the early 90's to chandelles/lazy 8's commercial maneuvers to engine outs in twins fairly recently in fsx-all sims used have been useful and huge money savers when they could reasonably simulate what I needed at the time for rw training. After a certain number of hours flying is like riding a bike-maybe some rust occurs but it comes back quickly . After two decades of flying though-the one thing th…

Hello All, As you may be aware there has been some signature regulation changes within the past week. We need everyone to comply so I ask you to read the new regulations and change your signature accordingly. That means moving your computer specs and other information to your profile as indicated. http://forum.avsim.net/topic/378695-new-signature-rules-and-other-changes/ Please try to have this all done within 48 hours from now, or when you next sign in, whichever is sooner. 6. 1. At what altitude does XP10.21 show contrails from heavies? Trying out a 737-800 at FL27...but no contrails. 2. Is there a method (button press?) that can update your barometer such as in FS9/FSX by pressing the 'b' keyboard key? How does one garner the current B.P. until you'd go to standard at FL180? I'm in the learning curve, so there might be a few more, what might be obvious questions from the seasoned around here, Ses

Ive been enjoying XPX for over a year now, but one of the things I never really cared for is the over done tire smoke effect. It seems to happen everytime I hit the brakes, even if I just slightly apply the brakes. Is there a replacement texture that either gets rid of it or tones it down a lot? Or is there a file that can be deleted or re-naimed to get rid of it? Thanks in advance for any guidence. Rob

  10. I just paused a flight out in regional and countryside touch and go's. I am going to make a personal statement here, that isn't supposed to be a 'get with the program you'all' for the rest of aviation simulation environs. I have found my flight simulator, in XPX and I suppose any other following versions. On my system, everything is real-life in fluid and non-stutter, non-choppy simulation animation, all in. The instantaneous, lightening fast updates to the instruments is not like anything I have ever seen to date. The regional highway, loaded with such detailed cars, trucks (with logos, yet!) and buses, is so real to the mind, that as I landed, I just paused for a …

http://developer.x-plane.com/?article=understanding-cockpit-prefill Ben Supnik comes with something interesting that everybody likes or did he mean something else? Sorry, this is not a tip on how to tune your X-Plane system; it’s a tip for aircraft authors to make sure their 3-d cockpits are running at maximum performance. Prefill is when X-Plane blocks out the clouds that will be behind the airplane cockpit. The biggest cause of GPU slow-down is cloud rendering, so reducing the area that the clouds have to fill is really important. In the 2-d cockpit, X-Plane pre-fills automatically. But in a 3-d cockpit, the airplane author has to specify which objects should b…

  14. - 10.XX will include seasonal textures - 10.XY will include high range views from altitude - 10.XZ will include the chance to inject weather at all levels, through a plugin :-) - instructions included for 3pds, and an example in that release, with RWW complemented by a simplified algorithm to calculate winds and temperatures aloft... - 10.ZW will include potentially unlimited AI traffic, and allow you to inherit the AFCAD format from ... you now where from.... Traffic injectors supported by plugin programming for this new model of AI... I am sure no one would miss such an update, and the many still reluctant in migrating would definitely take the plunge!

This surprised me a little bit (Actually allot). According to the latest demographic survey, it doesn't look like X-Plane 10 is being adopted as well as participation in the section may suggest. I would have thought the numbers would have taken a big boost compared to last year! http://forum.avsim.net/topic/407760-2013-demographics-to-date-part-2-of-3/

I must have been a fool to imagine that now that I am a proud owner of X-plane 10 my FS woo's would be over :-) Today I have been trying to install it. I downloaded the latest installer, inserted Disc 1 selected all senery I.e. the whole world and have even put in a hard drive dedicted to it. First attempt got stuck with the progress bar on disk 2 just stopped at 1/5 of the way for an hour no message or activity at all. I cancelled it and started again running as an administrator and now it has been running with the progress bar stopped at less than 1/10 of the way across for about 2 hours but the installing line shows activity! Any suggestions?

  22. Just a link to my other thread, where I report what I beileve have found to be the reason for this, and also a possible (really not sure on that one) sign of core FDM tunning... http://forum.avsim.net/topic/407189-downloading-again-x-plane10-demo-and-some-additional-goodies/#entry2662526 I'm glad to find that the team at LR is trying their best to get the sim up to the standards it deserves. Taking care to design the default aircraft in a way that makes justice to the true capabilities of the core FDM is a good option!

Hello, Simmers, Robert Randazzo, chief of PMDG, recently delivered a keynote speech at AVSIM'S FanCon. Apparently the origianl audio track was damaged or lost, but fortunately a fellow named Marty Arant saved the day by making his own recording of the speech. Unfortunately, it becomes apparent upon listening to the podcast that the recording was made from one of the dining tables rather than from a feed from Robert's microphone. I say this because, when you turn the volume up enough to hear Robert, the sounds of eating, plates and silverware clattering, etc. are very much in the forground. Nevertheless, if you are a flight sim enthusiast (and I'm not sure why y…
