yesterday I bought the McPhat Coolsky DC-9 ( WOW! what a STUDY SIM) for FSX and the FJS 727 for Xplane 10. Time to learn VOR to VOR Navigation  for the next few weeks. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6yWkKvBFkzE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W1pHb9-1FRU http://www.coolsky.no/index.php/dc-9-classic/reviews/346-dc-9-classic-review-avsim

Guys, one of the things I really know almost nothing about is scenery editing / creation in X-Plane10. Well, i got the great OSM+Autogen Europe file from SimHeaven, which includes a great Lisboa :-) but there is an even better, although a bit outdated, version of Lisbon scenery that includes the two bridges (our Tejo suspension bridge that looks like a smaller Golden Gate, and the Vasco da Gama bridge). Well, when I use this scenery on top of the default OSM I see two bridges near each of the original bridges, one created by OSM (Autogen?) and the other ( graphically depicting the real thing ) that overlap. How do I get rid of the OSM/Autogen generated br…

  3. Austin Meyer, developer of X-Plane, is being sued for patent infringement and has asking for people to consider signing a petition to the Obama administration requiring that the losing party of any patent lawsuit be required to pay legal fees of the prevailing party. Without entering into any discussion of the merits of Mr. Meyer's idea, it might be worthwhile for those who are so inclined to listen to his request for assistance. The threat of litigation hangs over all businesses, and unfortunately, Laminar Research does not have the 'deep pockets' of the Goliaths like Google, Microsoft, Adobe, Electronic Arts, and so on. The costs to defend such suits, even if your…

It's a MOD, with due credit to the original Columbia 400 author, the aircraft that comes by default with X-Plane10 is one of those I fly the most. It's also a good way to start training your Plane-Maker skills :-) What I did was a little tweaking in the RoGs, control phase-out and some art stab too :-/ IMPORTANT: For best results please make sure your Art Stab sliders and Joystick linearity are full left!!! The nullzone doesn't have to be zero, like in the image bellow... If you want to test, please: 1) Make a backup of the original c400.acf file, or, even better so that you can keep the original aircraft, and test both versions, create a copy of the…

  5. Ok, here we go again, but this time on the defense, rather than attacking :-) There are two things we know about X-Plane10 that most of us don't like to feel because we think they feel unrealistic: - torque-induced roll - too much wind veering during ground operations (taxi / takeoff) Now, if I look at the FM display (default CTRL-M - see attached image, where the longer vectors on the left side of fuselage / wing root are obviously denoting the asymmetric effects of the propwash/slipstream on various aircraft surfaces...) we can easily see that the FDM accounts for the forces that might counter the torque-induced roll ( vectors near the root of the left …

As part of the Aerosoft sale I bought the Dash 8 Q400 by FlyJSim. It's a great looking aircraft and flys great too. However, the one thing I was disappointed in was the engine sounds. They just don't sound realistic for a turboprop. There is also not enough depth to the sound. Does anyone know of any replacement sounds for the Dash? Otherwise it's a very good purchase.

X-aviation posted a new Saab 340 preview pic on their forum (can't link with my phone). Looks amazing, but for some reason, the nose looks weird too me. Maybe too long and pointy? Maybe its just the angle since their attention to detail is so good. It would surprise me if this aspect was "off". Can't wait for this one. Sent from my HTC6435LVW using Tapatalk 2

  12. Enjoy some touch and go stick time at beautiful Sedona, Arizona Here is the link to an airport package for the Southwest. Very nice! http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?app=downloads&showfile=16606 Also, while typing...I found a very beautiful area,(crank up all the settings to 'bursting mode'....and enjoy what XPX can put out in eye-candy country: Here's the airport Seaside Municipal (56S). Fire up XPX and load into this airport. After take off, bank left and come over the shoreline about 1/4 mile out to sea and and enjoy the mountains and cliffs.... To enjoy this, FORGET about what FPS your system can give, when everything is at the highest se…

...and there I was about to write a glowing report about XP10 :( I've been using New Zealand Pro without a hitch with Carenado's 64 bit Centurion, but today decided to take a look at PNW - an area I loved in FSX. Looks wonderful in XP10 too I thought as I took off from Orcas Island, but then the first of many CTDs happened (well, strictly speaking hanging / freezing then CTD). I'm using ALPilot's HD mesh with settings quite high, but then in NZ (which apparently has a more detailed HD mesh) I can go hours with no problem. Busier airports CTD quicker. Just tried KLAX and got a CTD after 2 seconds!!! Win7, 8GBram, GTX580, [email protected]. Any ideas?

  14. We are stepping up our support of X-Plane in a way that we think will be beneficial to both the community and developers, both commercial and freeware. Here is the nub of it: If you develop for X-Plane, whether you are a commercial or freeware provider, you are welcome to have a forum here, in the X-Plane category of forums on AVSIM. You may notice that we have brought the Draw Bridge support forum into the X-Plane category from the Commercial Developers Support forums area. We will do the same for any add-on developer who wishes to have a forum here. All we ask is that you not have an existing forum and that the forum here is your official support forum for your …

Been tweaking xpx 64 and always kept world detail distance at max.....until now. WOW what a difference in performance. Its like changing this one setting enables me to max just about every other setting. What are you all using, and what represents the closest comparison to what one sees in FSX? I know there is a freeware 737 available, but is there no commercial 737-800 being actively developed? That is kind of disappointing considering how popular the NGX was for FSX.

It is probably the best example of Q-I-Q-O = Quality In - Quality Out.... Of all airliners I have used in a sim, being it X-Plane, MSFS (any version I used), Fly!, Aerowinx PS1, I have to declare that the fligth dynamics of this aircraft are the best I have EVER been able to use! It's true that when I bought P3D (with the money I made selling my 1st copy of X-Plane10...) I invested in Aerosoft's AXE, and PMDG's 737 NGX, and these are great models to have on that platform. The PMDG products are exaustive in exploring the many features of the real thing and bringing them, almost 100%, into MSFS / P3D, but!, there is one thing they really can't get just right - the f…

The 777 :-) I have a special admiration for this airliner, and since I am not going to buy any ESP-based version, it had to be for X-Plane10. I also do not believe PMDG will start with this one... (rather the 744...). Next will follow the AS350B3 from Dreamfoil and then either of Peter's A321 or A380 ;-) I am converted (50 %, the other 50% with DCS ...) I must say I am also very satisfied with my experiments with the C90 edits, both radii of gyration and phase-out. It really makes a difference, but it is a sensible type of parameter to change... If only I had access to more detailled info on that aircraft ....

  25. Since this is one of my favorite areas to fly around, I wanted to know if there's any payware or freeware scenery that covers the entire Hawaii Islands? I know Frede has done an excellent job with freeware airports that cover a lot of this area, but I would like to make this area complete as possible. If there are any photoscenery available, I'd love to know about it. I can't really find anything out there that will make flying this area more visually enjoyable.
