I downloaded Adelaide YPAD from here today. http://isdg.com.au/downloads/ What a nice scenery for free. Here are two screenshots from testing the correct install. I have posted some more from my Adelaide - Gold Coast trip in the screenshots forum. Don't want to make the mods made on me. http://forum.avsim.net/topic/411175-jq454-adelaide-gold-coast-x-plane-10/#entry2694283

I believe I have answered some of this myself, but I wasn't actually sure about it, so, nothing better than asking the right guys the right answers :-) All of the following are related to sceneries from SimHeaven. 1) I assume the Continental scenery files, (osm + autogen or osm + only) subsume all of the country files, correct? So, for instance, there is no advantage in downloading / installing OSM Europe osm + autogen and OSM Croatia, right? 2) I believe that due to the lack of detailed data, the files for Europe without autogen are, by default, more filled with road & urban data than those for other continents, so, for the time being we should proba…

Hi all, Happy XPX user here with the latest beta etc. I using a triple wide display @ 5040 x 1050(120 degree FOV) to do my simming, and it is wonderful. The problem I am having is with cloud loads in certain weather situations killing my frames. I am using an overclocked GTX 680 with 4gb ram, so my hardware is pretty good(I hope!) and a Sandy Bridge at 5.0 ghz. I have tried some of the lighter cloud file packages, but still get overloaded and have so lower the AA level with HDR(HDR is a must). Any other hints from the pros as to how to squeeze more out of the sim with acceptable clouds. Thanks I have a gtx 690 laying around (2gb ram/gpu) and coul…

  5. I use the ATC as is, and it is getting me by, but to have a Microsoft FS9/FSX version would be a total coup as far as I'm concerned. True A.I. within the ATC capsule. Would crank up the immersion factor to steaming..... You add that to what already fantastic features, XPX holds...and present non-XPX users would flock to the arena. I find that I am getting use to not having the Microsoft A.I. traffic within XPX, and found that it is more than compensated by what XPX has, that neither Microsoft product does...but in my P.O., if Austin and Crew could give us the same execution as M.S. does for A.T.C.... For myself, it would be the XPX-Grand Slam. Mitch

After landing at 'who-knows-where' in Northern Germany a few moments ago ( I'm going to get a map!), I wanted to put down in this post what I feel really makes this simulator platform so special, at least for this poster: Where to start off...well...ok....the 'little' things of detail that is inherent in the sim. 1. Roadways, bridgework, that do not collide with each other in the matrix. If a regional or local road is crossing the path of a highway or interstate, it goes under the highway or interstate, by means of a concrete structured bridge. If cars, buses, trucks, emergency vehicles etc (all there in XPX) are on that roadway approaching the overpass..they tra…

I am still working on further improvements for Madeira airport, but the mesh enhancements aren’t easy and kind of laborious. Thus, as a “loosening-up exercise” I started to work on a new scenery. Below some impressions. The one who can tell me where it is, will get it for free. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mXOtR7cJY5g You may wonder why I took the Seamax for exploring the scenery. Well … there is a lot of water around, so it seems to be an obvious choice. True – but there are other seaplanes, too. But the actual reason is as following: last year I was on this island for a short vacation, and while waiting for the return flight, there was a small plane approaching the …

  8. Here's the facts,... Yesterday, I downloaded two OSM continent files from SimHeaven: 1: North America with autogen 2: Europe with autogen I fired up XPX 64 bit and waited for it to place me at an airport. I shut down the program. I then as per the instruction page within the North America zip file, did a total cut and paste of my .ini file, which I have included for your perusal. I was at VERY HIGH as my standard (pre file install and re-sort) for my rez selection. With this, I would get anywhere from 18-30 (lock) depending on how involved the scenery was, etc. I fired up XPX 64 bit with the 2 OSM and autogen in the mix...and found that I stayed a…

  9. I'm sorry I can't post a movie link, but I haven't yet get my X-Plane10 64 bit going with some sort of Fraps-like software, otherwise I would gladly attach a link to the reason for my exclamations when, just a few minutes ago, I completed a circuit on the A380, from LPPT 03 / returning, under the winds that are now reported in LPPT's METAR and I was able to observe from my office :-) at the portuguese metoffice (aeronautical meteorology center for Lisbon AIrport). Well, it's sooooo different, so much more realistic / challenging that, I really can't wait for those 3pd weather generators to start becoming available and bringing even more challenges to X-Plane10's weath…

My hometown airport (KFRG) Republic airport Long Island NY, looked pretty bare in XP, but luckely for me, someone created an addon scenery for it for FSX, which someone else converted to an older version of XP. It still worked in XP10,but it needed some help. So using WED, I replaced some of the buildings and added some static parked aircraft and some photo scenery from G2XPL and now its looking pretty good. Using WED is a lot easier than you might think and if your favorite airports are not done, its easy to add some detail and life to it. Rob

  11. I am away for the week on the road and I finally bought XPX global. My wife said there was a package me from Laminar Research, so like any one of us would do, I down played it and said to just leave it on my desk and ill see it when I get home. Ok so I've bought XPX I am not sure if I'm going to like it or not but I felt I needed to at least support LR and any one that is keeping this hobby going. Now to be clear I am not about to start a FSX vs XPX vs P3D vs whatever. I believe in this product now and that is why I've dumped $80 and risking being in the dog house for the foreseeable future with the mrs. Questions I have for XP flyers are 1. How is the ATC comp…

I'd like to give a big thanks to those who have purchased ILM. For those who haven't, buy it I'm currently working an update to KILM. We've addressed a few glitches and got some bugs resolved. 4K textures have been added to increase the resolution of a few objects. More vegetation is being added as well as an array of 3d objects to increase the realism. I can't give an exact timeframe for release of the update but I hope to have it done in the next 2-4 weeks. WED is being a huge pain in the &@($* right now and it takes me twice as long to get things done. As far as upcoming projects, I've started work on another "boutique" airport just up t…

Hi folks, I notice there are country as well as continent sceneries and therein lies the confusion. Are the country 2012 OSMs more detailed than the continent 2013, or are the continents exactly the same, just a bundle if you like of the countries? Bit confusing, so if someone can enlighten me that would be great. SimHeaven seems to be well named and a real XP saviour! Dave

  18. Ok, XPX-pre SimHeaven OSM+AUTOGEN and custom scenery ini file resort as per SimHeaven's instructions: KFNT (at extreme rez) 22-24 on average. POST OSM+AUTOGEN North America and Europe Continent files and sorting out all my files in order of SimHeaven strict reorder: 29-30 FPS!!!!! I have been running with XPX PRE install and scenry file reorder at a rez of second-highest (VERY HIGH) and keeping near 30 FPS in general. With rez set to highest (Extreme) I had dropped down to around 18-22, apples-to-apples BUT now...since the installation of those two scenery packs, and the reorder exactly as required/requested by SimHeaven: rez: Very High: 30 …

Landing this plane at Mountain Air airport NC, is a real challenge. This is a payware scenery addon, but very well done and very fun to land at. One of the strangest looking airports in the US. A video of a real MU2 landing there. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wCxOx30rdow

Is there a certain sure fire way to bring up the required ATC radio freq's for any individual airport/airfield? I have been using the LOCAL MAPS feature, and then have double-clicked on the airport icon mask...but in trying that with the the new KDFW, I can't seem to activate the mask for the radio freq's. Can anybody point me to how you should do this for all airport inquiries? What procedure within XPX? Thanks. Mitch

  22. I would say Peter's A380 is a great experience, as well as AS350 B3, but I have to say this: The Mu-2J v 1.5 ( I never had bought it, although a friend who I brought into the X-plane world by version 9 did, and said a LOT of good things about it... )! I confess I didn't even bother opening the ACF file. I only tend to do it when there is something I do not feel ok, or some tuning I would like to do, but heck! this airplane doesn't need ANY editing! It behaves beautifully, as I guess a MU-2 would in RL and somehow confirm through the many texts I have read. It's a challenging aircraft!!! and an AMAZING model!!!!

Firstly, I have to say X-Plane 10 night lighting is absolutely amazing. After playing around with HDR and non-HDR, I have found non-HDR lighting to actually be superior to HDR. The immersion experienced with non-HDR lighting is something I have not experienced with a simulator up until now. Lining up on the runway, seeing the runway end lighting and looking down the runway, I think, is pretty much close to the real thing, quite unbelievable considering it's a simulator. X-Plane 10 night lighting as (non-HDR), has resulted in me moving away from FSX for GA flying, that is until PMDG do something for X-Plane. Some side notes, HDR is good - looking down from up …

Folks Curiosity has finally got to me and I'm downloading the demo now. Somewhere I believe I read that add on a/c do work in the demo. So rather than use a (what tend to be) less than ideal default plane, what would you recommend for a GA type to get a proper feel for it? I'd probably prefer a C152/172 since I have rw time in them, but any single GA would do. Cheers Mike
