Although I own X Plane 10 it has been quite a while from when I last used it, mainly because there have been so many more good airliner and scenery addons available for FSX. However lately I've heard about more and more very promising projects for X plane being started, however I wonder if at the moment there are following kinds of addons that have always been very important to me in FSX: 1. Is there any kind of worldwide AI solution for X plane 10, with real schedules? Or at least one in development? For me it would be quite important to have something like UT2 or Mytraffic in FSX for X plane 10. 2. I'm not sure if I'm wrong about X plane 10 not having real we…

Purchased x plane 10 . Loaded all discs . Downloaded new installer as instructed. Trying to run, get the following error message. upd socket read udp init failed. Message states the reason for error is because another copy of x plane is running. Have only one copy that has been loaded and will not let me in to do any new updates or anything other than the new installer. Any help, please. Have sent email to x plane support requesting help but no reply yet.

Yeehawww! I'm the first person to post in the first commercial forum for Xplane 10! I'm gonna be famous! Anyhow how about we start with a discussion about what DD hopes to bring to Xplane and the areas of the world that will be covered. As someone disillusioned with FSX I'm keeping an eye on XP10 development and all 3PDs that venture into this field bring it that much closer to being a true replacement so this forum is great news. Judging by the screenshot on the Avsim announcement I'd say these guys have a lot of awesome things in the works =).

Is there any setting or addon that can create dynamic head movements in XPX? Like the g-force related head movement in DCS (which is excellent) or the DHM in OpusFSX?

I've been eyeing the challenger 300 bizjet. It doesn't have a navigraph FMS so that's a downer but it looks pretty cool otherwise. Does it work in XP x64 without those SASL OOM errors? I get OOM with the Carenado A36 and am Leary of buying anymore products that claim x64 compatibility.

Today I installed the Europe OSM + Auotogen file and since the install my Simheaven photoscenery has disappeared. I tried to follow the correct order of things but no matter what I move around I can't get my photoscenery to appear anymore (only the OSM + autogen appears). Well, this morning after arriving from my night shift I rushed preparing for a Maputo Mozambique) - Lisbon long haul flight in the WL 777... Used FSBuild to assemble my flightplan, started XP10, loaded WL 777 and... and... CADABUM! Nothing, NADA, Niente, kaput ... Whazzzzzzup????? Is it my new disk? Well, my 1st officer was still asleep, so, a walk through another forum gave me the explanation - some sort of incompatibility with SASL starting 10.22 b2. Other SASL-based aircraft loaded without problems ( Peter's A380) but honestly I do not like programming ( or better, not being able to program ) Peter's FMGC... I think I have found the flight that I want to do all the time, a dawn hop from EDDM to LOWI routing through the Alps in JRollons Jetstream with a visual approach to RW08. This plus the new combination of an i970 and ATI7950 on my old Mac Pro allowing me to run extreme res with good settings. Heaven, for me, has been found.

OK, they may not be great, but recently they seem to have improved a lot over when I first checked XP out at the beginning of the year. Even with cloud detail way down (I have mine at 60%) the game is capable of producing some pretty realistic looking weather:

My 500GB disk was stable, with one of the smoothest installs of Win7 64 bit I ever had. No MS .NET, no MS VC++, only X-Plane10 installed for flightsimming, but the many OSM sceneries were starting to make the disk very very short... As I write this post I am cloning it to a 1TB, where my X-Plane10 will have plenty of room to grow :-)

Long haul flights with the WL-T7. Back on the good old times of fs9 / fsx, everutime I tried a long-haul flight from say, San Francisco to London or Paris I knew that 99% of the time I would arrive to the PC and find my airplane on the tarmac or rw, ready to start a new flight, because the simulator had crashed :-/ or the weather did present so sudden changes that the aircraft entered an uncontrolable situation. I haven't run X-Plane10 for so many hours non-stop, but already "flew" a couple of medium-haul flights without any problems. My 1st Long-Haul with X-Plane10 will be, precisely, between San Francisco and London !!!

This morning, after installing the New Zealand Pro scenery set from AlpilotX, I decided to pick my MU2 and go for a ride - a short circuit around NZWN Well, it was (stil is) rather windy. METARs are now reporting 20033KT and the TAF reads 20035G45KT !!! What really one again found great about the scenery, the weather and in particular the airplane, was being able to takeoff and land, using the proper techniques !!! Of course not all aircraft add-ons for XPX can handle takeoffs and even taxiing under such winds... The scenery looks AMAZING!!!!! The weather is UNIQUE in X-Plane10, sepcially under tough conditions!!! The Aircraft ( MU2 ) is a MUST !!! …

From some angles of view from the VC of my Centurion or J32 I get FPS falling to 1-5 when looking at some scenery. It seems to be in the SimHeaven areas, and does not seem to affect default planes like the King Air or the Baron. I haven't narrowed the cause down yet but is anyone else getting the same thing when looking at some scenery?

XPX, contrarily to other simulators, moderates a lot my tendency to get many add-ons. I haven't quite figured out why I am so much more contained when it comes to get additional ( payware or freeware ) aircraft add-ons for XPX than I used to for other simulators, but the fact is I am a lot more selective about the add-ons I get. It is probably due to the fact that with other sims I was allways trying to find the best / most credible behaviors, desperately trying to get a "perfect" aircraft, while in X-Plane10 I am a lot more satisfied with the default outcome, even taking into consideration the couple of problems / limitations we know about. Sorry if this has already been asked / answered, but I didn't find it here at the forum... Today, while I was at Alpilotx's site downloading ( at last ) teh New Zealand scenery package, I noticed the "Tree lines and farms" overlay. Is it a good idea to use this together with the OSM Continent series? I read there: "X-Plane 10 tree lines and farms" scenery is an overlay add-on for x-plane. It tries to add visual clutter (tree lines and forests) to the usually relatively dull landscape of agricultural areas and grassy areas." Is this compatible with the "trees" painted by the SimHeaven OSM series?
