  1. I got XPlane 10 and tried on my computer but I had bad performance. I am new to it so I don't know how to choose the best options suitable for my hardware. I am a FSX user since years and I can run it with many addons with a acceptable performance. Is it possible to help me which settings to choose in game? My specs are written in my profile.

  2. Just a reminder fellow aviation junkies,....use this post as a friendly reminder...back up your entire system. After each major change (adding, deleting..etc programs and files) I always now as a good habit, use the create system image, available within W7 Ultimate to do just that. To show you how much work and effort (if you can even track down all your programs and files...licenses, etc!) would have to be put into rebuilding my software footprint for XPX and everything else... ...it takes over 2.5 hours to download an image to my USB 3 back-up WD 2 TB external! Imagine the hours to weeks of effort needed, if I even could rebuild my XPX,FSX.FS9 set ups as they now…

I do have autogen shadows from the VC, but they seemed to be drawn in a very small radius around the plane. Basically they only appear when I'm almost on top of the scenery. From the external views they seem to be drawn from further away. Is there a way to widen the radius at which they're drawn? Are there any blogposts or similar that deal with the way autogen shadows are drawn in XP?

  5. I've downloaded the x-plane demo, v 10.21, and I'm trying to run the 64-bit version under Windows 8 on an i7 8gb machine. x-plane comes up OK, and I went straight into settings to calibrate my CH Eclipse Yoke. No problem there either, all axes identified, checked and responsive as you would expect. Also applied a small 5% null zone. But as soon as I return to the sim, any selected aircraft on the runway just goes round and round in a rapid left hand circle either permanently or until it crashes, with no action on the yoke having any effect at all. Go back into settings and everything's recognised and working as expected again. Back to the sim, same circling …

  7. I'm just in a paused flight between Quebec City, Quebec, Canada, heading for an eventual landing at KFNT (Flint/Bishop), Flint, Michigan, USA. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I have been using, and more importantly to note above all else, LEARNING how to use/run XPX.22 to its full advantage for about 6 weeks now. We have all in this forum sang the praises to XPX perhaps to ad nausea from anybody else coming into this forum from another sim platform. But, I personally really felt the need to warn any of the users from either the FSX, or the P3D forums, that if you find FSX ( and the…

http://developer.x-plane.com/ X-Plane 10.22 release candidate two is now officially final – if you did not participate in the beta program, you will get the update via auto-update. This build provides X-Plane-managed memory allocation for Lua-based plugins on Windows, which should help the problem of Lua plugins running out of memory. If you have add-ons based on SASL 1.0 64-bit, you will need to get an update from the airplane vendor that uses SASL 2.0! Please do not report SASL 1.0 64-bit crashing on Windows; this is a known problem with SASL 1.0 64-bit that was fixed with SASL 2.0 64-bit.

I purchased the Cirrus SR2X_10X from Jason Chandler and it is an amazing plane to fly in X-Plane 10.22. I keep noticing after takeoff that my oil pressure and oil temp is going through the roof. They are basically pegged. I am new to this aircraft and constant speed props in general. What am I missing here? I'm sure it's something simple so forgive my ignorance. Generally, I apply 100% power, full rich, booster pump on, flaps 50% until about 1000 ft and then drop to cruise at 75% power and no flaps (unless I stay in the pattern), turn off booster pump. Thanks for any suggestions with this.

  10. Months ago I started a new paint-project, the Cessna Centurion (Carenado) this time. This is a livery paint including some extra`s. Changes have been made on the normalmappig for the wings ( ugly unrealistic bubbles in the wing-platings smoothened ) Looks of the panel enhanced by adding some natural gloss and normalmapping. This livery will be published at the AVSIM-library shortly.( I just upped it ,a minute ago ) http://dl.dropbox.com/u/19900507/screens/cen1.png http://dl.dropbox.com/u/19900507/screens/cen2.png http://dl.dropbox.com/u/19900507/screens/cen3.png

  12. I was looking over the X-Plane file library categories this evening and was disappointed to find that since 2002, only 102 aircraft models have been uploaded. Only three in the last three years. What can AVSIM do to increase the uploads of X-Plane add-on's and what can you do to help us? AVSIM is here for all flight simulation genres, not just MSFS. What do we as a community need to do to change the add-on situation around?

  17. Start out at KFNT on R09 As soon as you lift off and retract your gear, bank a hard left and pick up Interstate I-75 northbound and stay LOW.... Keep it in sight, and follow it up north through Bay City (you will cross over the Saginaw River) and eventually, it will guide you right up to the Mackinaw Bridge that connects the lower and upper peninsula of the State of Michigan. Fly over the bridge to the other side (the upper peninsula side...), and then as soon as you come to shore, bank right and that will line you up for a landing at the top of the hill on Mackinaw Island in the distance. You will see the Grand Hotel (large white building on the west shoreline a…

  20. That nightmare of any prop pilot is not quite like so in X-Plane10 :-) Is it acceptable for, say, the default C172 or the Stinson L5 (which I edited to set the critical altitude for the engine to 12.000') to keep their engines running, even without leaning, if we drop them ( by "Local Map" magic ) at, say, 65.000' ??? Problem is ( with all prop aircraft in X-Plane ) that if I place them ( not take them up to... flying...) no matter how high I want, their engines will still be running happily ... ???? What am I missing here? Of course when I set a critical altitude for the reciprocating engine I know the engine will produce less power as I get past that altitu…

  21. Many X-Plane-users visit AVSIM these days and their number is growing daily. Last weeks I was asked how to upload files (X-Plane add-ons , paints etc ) to the AVSIM library , for experienced AVSIM visitors just a piece of cake , for our new friends sometimes confusing. Uploading to our server is certainly no "Hocus Pocus" , nevertheless its a routine one should be accustomed to. So here it is , the Upload-Manual. Just download it , print it and keep it at hand when uploading. I am confident it will help. I have several control axis in XP10 that remain "red" as if they are not configured properly even though the hardware has been calibrated in Windows and XP10 recognizes it, can anyone tell me why? One is my PFC Saab Yoke which is a USB device, The pitch and pull throttle Axis work and turn "green" yet the roll axis works but remains "red" and I don't know why? Same with My GoFlight TQ6 all of the levers seem to work but only a couple turn green in the XP10 Axis assignment screen?

Ok. I give up. How in the world do you set up exclusion zones in WED. I have pretty much figured out how to do most of the other stuff, but cannot figure out the "Exclusion Zone" feature. Under file, it says something like "Open DSF" which I think is where you go, but nothing seems to happen. Any help would be appreciated as I have roads and traffic through the small airport I have designed. John
