    Started by Guest FlyBaby,

I recently downloaded RTH... The initial settings made my plane lights really big, so I turned down the light intensity to get the plane lights to look normal. However, the street lights became too small to see. I then noticed other light setting that I have not yet been able to set correctly to get a balanced lighting effect. Question 1 Can someone share their light settings such that I can have a good starting point? Question 2 When I adjusted the light distance scale at night, the street lights did not seem to become any more visible farther out from the plane. Is there a hardcoded limit as to how far off one can view street lights?

The Antares was the glider I "flew" the most in Silent Wings. It was very plausibly modeled ( Silent Wings is a great soaring simulator ). Having started to search for good X-Plane add-ons ( again ) I stopped at the Aerobrask site. Any of you with this glider in the hangar ? Opinions really welcomed :-)

I give up :-( Where's the dataref for propwash speed ? You know we can enable display of this important variable in the Data Display menu, but heck! Where's the corresponding dataref ? Any hint really welcomed.... Why? I was trying to implement my paperwork on fine tuning of the prop effects, using propwash speed as one of the variables...

Much better cirrus (and stratus) clouds. Cumulus clouds instead are simpler and only 2D (non volumetric), and for this reason have basically zero impact on FPS. Nice terrain textures and lighting. Very high FPS at max detail (of course this corresponds to lower rendering settings in v10). Max visibility is limited to 25 miles: Nice night lighing. Very good urban light nighting (among the best of any sim) but only at altitude:

  5. Started by Comanche,

I always thought the deer looked dumb in X-plane. They were way out of scale too. But I loved the birds because you can actually hit them as does happen sometimes in real life, unfortunately. I left this setting on for the birds, but cringed when the deer would run across the runway. I always hoped, Laminar would separate the birds from the deer, so I could just have birds only. There is a file on the org site the changes the pack of deer into 2 airport security agents. They run around the airport like the deer. However, because there are only 2 and very small, you can hardly see them and at least don't look as out of place. I just tried it, and it works great. R…

So.. today I was willing to compare the performance of the "old" OSM Europe and Americas sceneries ( from SimHeaven ) with their new World2xp Europe and America. I decided to drop the all in the Custom Scenery folder and use scenery_packs.ini to disable the world2xp scenery areas and world library, by placing the "SCENRY_PACK_DISABLE" at the beginning of their entries. Nope! It doen't work, and I actually had to mode the corresponding folders away from Custom Scenery because otherwise whenever it starts, X-Plane 10 tries to reload them, as if there was no DISABLE...

Just got it and now for a few questions: Why when you select "let the AI fly your plane" does it sometimes start in the air even though you have set the plane in a correct parking spot at some airport. It does not always do this and sometimes when I have the plane parked and select AI fly it opens ATC and the plane taxis and then takes off very nicely. So is there a method to having the plane start at the gate when selecting AI fly? Another about ATC, how can I turn down their voice volume? Thanks,

Anyone knows what folders / configuration files I should save before installing SMP v2 ? I know I will want to keep it, but just in case I want to revert back to default clouds, what's the minimal backup required ?

Hi all. I've got a question about VATSIM on xplane. ( I'm not sure IVAO's working on xplane) Let's pretend we're flying on VATSIM on xplane. Are we able to see the other users using FSX or P3D? Or are we just allowed to see the Xplane users traffic only? It's a bit silly question but I want to know. Thanks

Hello pilots, I am a long time FSX user and now I have been with P3D for a couple of years. Been seeing some fantastic screen shots of X Plane scenery, clouds, haze and mountian ranges and I must say that I am impressed. I know that all flight sims has their strong points and weakness. I am thinking of purchasing X Plane and as X Plane users could you tell me some pros and cons with X Plane. Thanks.

Although I installed the NOAA plugin ( latest available version ) I believe that Ben has re-enabled the download of winds aloft a few updates ago. Are those winds just for the USA or for the whole Planet ? And, are the temperatures also updated now with just the default XP10 weather engine ? Thx for any enlightenment

As the title indicates, beta 10 is out there for download. The release notes are also posted and there were a few fixes, but the beta seems to be running smoothly for me. Ben anticipates a RC within two weeks, so we are getting there. John Edit: Right knob on GPS will not advance for entry of identifier. It will go backward and loop around so the id can be entered, but will not go right. Bug report filed. Update: After flying and finding that the GPS did everything else correctly, I went through several other aircraft and their GPS worked fine. Went back to the Centurion and it worked fine. Bug report submitted to report the now working GPS. Fi…

I bought this over a year ago, but stopped using it when I couldn't figure out how to use it. Now that V2 came out, I went back to it. This time , I was able to get random Traffic to land and takeoff at a few of my favorite airports, which is nice. No ground traffic yet, I'm waiting for a program that will auto generate them and I here that will be soon. However, I'm not getting a whole lot of traffic at these airports, At least not, what id like to see. Maybe one or 2 planes an hour taking off or landing. Id like to get a lot more than that. Anyways, just wondering if anyone here has been having any luck with this addon. Rob

This thing looks amazing... I'm a sucker for these sort of 'walk around and pretend you own it' sort of simulations. http://www.airfoillabs.com/ The only thing that would make me pause is that it's a 172... and I have plenty of hours in the A2A 172, which this looks to be a decent attempt at competing with. But still, I love the ability to free walk around the outside and remove tie downs, check fuel, oil, that sort of thing. Edit: I mean Airfoillabs on the title.... whoops!
