Just if anybody is wondering what my cloud settings are with SkyMaxx Pro (v 2.1.1), here they are. It always helps to know what settings are behind the atmospherics seen in screen shots by contributors... Left click mouse button twice on picture, to bring up for better settings viewing. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Cheers,

Hello! So I have seen all those amazing screenshots from people X-Plane's and I'm dumbfounded. No matter what I do, I can't even get close to the results presented on many screenshots. Even with addons, my terrain is still pretty low quality and resembles one from the FSX. So here is my question: What scenery/textures addon combo do you guys use? Anything special for the Scandinavian region? Thanks!

Found out that just changing a single art control dataref (it's called something like "fog_start_lo_alt") from default 0.1 to negative values (e.g. -5.0 or -10.0), the fog depiction improves a lot. The problem is that in this case the environment remains foggy even when there's high visibility. However a simple LUA plugin dinamically altering the dataref as a function of visibility, would probably work very well. However it's a pity that so many improvements to the visual engine (fog, clouds, etc.) could be easily made by the developers at Laminar but are not. They would solve a lot of current shortcomings in the visual rendition in the sim. Screenshots before…

Hello, so I upgraded my pc some time ago and since the performance in X-plane has just gone down... I used to have and old gtx 660 and a worse processor and 8gb ram and got more fps than with this setup, but the weird thing is what ever settings I use i just can't get good fps... and my CPU usage is being very low. Specs: Intel core i5 3570k @4.4ghz, radeon r9 290x 4GB, 16gb ram So heres the screenshots with very low end settings: x-plane settings: FPS with these settings: CPU usage: Then with higher settings... : FPS pretty much the same... : and CPU usage.. : Surely something is wrong here.. if any one knows how I can fix my perfo…

I just updated to 10.40 last night and right off noticed 2 things: 1. All lights (I mean ALL of them, taxiway, runway, scenery lights like lamp posts, tarmac lights...) are WAY too bright at night. Like... Nuclear bright! 2. All ground lights like taxiway blue lights, runway lights all have this strange rectangular glow around them. It diminishes quickly as I get near them, but it definitely doesn't look right. Has anyone else seen this?

While on a longer section of flight last night (in my new and absolutely sublime DHC-2), I started thinking about other things, and decided to let Otto fly the plane for a bit while I browsed through Avsim on my tablet. It only ever takes a minute to do so, because I pretty much quit browsing the FSX sub-forum even when I was still flying it 100% of the time... But I thought to myself that there aren't enough posts to keep on top of in the XP forum! As such, here's a new one. ^_^ I'm relatively new to the XP scene, and am still finding out about things that are in-progress by various developers. Already, there's a few that I'm eagerly anticipating: - The…

Hi All, I was wondering if anyone has been using the latest drivers from Nvidia with 10.40? I have a GTX780 and have been using the older 337.88 driver as documented in a pinned topic in this forum. I have been wondering about the newer drivers lately but 10.36 ran pretty well. I just updated my Steam version to 10.40 and right out of the box it seems great and I am no longer using RTH. All I have done is to use the Sky colours mod from the ORG and visually it looks fantastic. I am still experimenting with finding the best settings for my system and did upgrade my RAM from 8 GB DDR3 1600 to 16 GB DDR3 1866 Interested to hear anyone's thoughts Richard

I know this was discussed years ago (early XP 10); but has anyone found a way to increase the LOD in XP to get rid of the buildings fading (going transparent) at a near-distance? My view distance settings are at max with extreme objects; flying around Miami is annoying with buildings only coming into full view when I am near them. It would by nice to see solid buildings on the coast line from a distance instead of these ghost buildings!

Ok, I posted the following on the x-plane forum but so far I didn't get any reply so I thought I'd try posting here hoping some of you can help. Anway My xplane hangs after awhile, restarts, freezes, stutters. The trouble starts not far away from LOWS after a while I have to kill it via task manager. i was doing LIPQ SID ADOSA UM736 BZO UM726 KOGOL STAR EDDM ) and my xplane froze. So I done the flight a few more times and it would freeze more or less always around LOWS. I checked the log.tx but I'm not any wiser. I looked for the words fail and error. A few popped up so I disabled gizmo and did the flight again. Same thing. The sim would eventually freeze. My xp…

Hey guys , Just wanted to inform that a big update is coming to LLBG by IXPT in a few weeks The eastern part of the Mediterranean Sea has some really awesome sceneries such as LGSR by uwespeed and LGMK by icarus team. LLBG -> LGSR or LGMK is a really nice and short journey (1.5 hour in a jet) and has some nice views such as the coast of tel aviv or greek islands. The scenery is free of course but payware quality We really hope to see more Xplane pilots in this area , believe you'll not be disappointed ^_^

HI All, I am staggering around trying to get going in X-Plane 10. My first dilemma lies in setting up the joystick etc. It does not appear possible to have dedicated key and button assignments on a per plane basis. Is it possible to have a key file (set up) for individual aircraft? Please forgive me if I have posted this incorrectly. I throw myself on the mercy of those who have more time to enjoy (emphasis on enjoy) this great hobby more than I do. Many thanks in advance. Steve

Hi, I downloaded x2wp_America, which directed me to download the following... - OpenSceneryX (http://www.opensceneryx.com/) - R2 Library (http://r2.xpl.cz/) - FF Library (http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?app=downloads&showfile=12836) - world-models library (http://simheaven.com/?wpfb_filepage=w2xp_world-models-7z) I downloaded the 4 additionsl files, unzipped them and placed all 5 folders in my Xplane\custom scenery folder. I read on http://world2xplane.com/2014/03/12/quick-start-guide/ that I needed to run World2XPlane32.exe and select a pbf file. My questions 1) What pbf file is the directions referring to? I dont seem to have one for Ameri…

Finally got a decent video of the 732 Sim in action on PilotEdge. My phone went dead or I would have filmed the Landing. Very busy tonight and very challenging. Good for the brain to calculate my decent vs using a VNAV which I don't have. I highly recommend PilotEdge and they are opening a bunch more area!! Denver, Seattle, Phoenix to name a few. Allot more work to do but it is becoming more and more a joy to fly. Enjoy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NhX_o4b_wmk Rob

For the painting component they're suggesting SyMaxx Pro, since it really does already a very nice work! NOAA is of course great, but doesn't give you any cloud coverage above the sector altitude for the METARs...

Hi, We are making an MD-80 for X-Plane. The plane will have custom systems and avionics, including the FMC, state of the art visuals and animations with high resolution textures, We count with the advice of two MD-80 pilots, so expect accuracy in everything, from flight model to systems. Here you have the feature list: http://rotatesim.com/md-80-feature-list/

nice but wasn't 2.0 just a few months ago  New stratiform clouds! Stratus and overcast cloud layers may now be represented by thick, volumetric clouds. - Extends all the way to the horizon - Both solid and broken stratiform representations - Advanced lighting model with real Mie scattering and fogbows! - Realistic in-cloud effects for convincing IFR landings and takeoffs - Simulated scud layer - Real simulation of single, double, and multiple scattering of sunlight and moonlight through the clouds - Even faster than SkyMaxx Pro 2's clouds! Vastly increased cloud draw distances! - 3D volumetric cloud layers adjustable up to 200KM wide - Uses "dynamically gene…

http://prosim737.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=6427 Xplane update notes by Marty » 26 Apr 2014, 23:53 I'd like to explain some of the things we are doing for X-Plane in more detail. Unfortunately it has been quite from our side regaring X-Plane for some time. This was partly due to lots of work and partly due to missing information that was necessary to implement a lot of the X-Plane compatibility. We are getting more help now and will therefor be able to improve the X-Plane compatibility and we will strive to make ProSim737 the best cockpit suite for X-Plane. Below is some further information on the ProSim and X-Plane combination: X-Plane ProSim plugin We…
