XP has great night lighting; I just wish I could see more of it farther out. Has anyone figured out a way to increase the visibility of night lights to see them farther out?

I can't use dxtory with x-plane. When I x-plane open whith dxtory opened, than xplane crashs Anyone a solution?

Sorry - this may have been covered but I have searched without any luck... Tried setting visibility to 2 miles at night; I could still see every light out to the horizon. Any thoughts? thx Andrew

Do extended DSF only eat RAM? Or do they also use CPu and / or GPU memory or load?

Maybe someone has done and posted this before, but I read a lot of this and haven't seen it mentioned. Last night I was playing around with renderings, and went into the basic Nvidia Control Panel/Manage 3D Settings area, and decided to turn on (It is off by default) Antialiasing - FXAA. When I went back to flying, I found higher FRs and tried turning on the 8xSSAA+FXAA setting. Normally, this would kill my FRs, but this time it had almost no effect, but gave me a shimmer-free environment. I have since tried it with several aircraft and it seems to hold up with all of them. Does anyone have a GTX 980 Ti and can comment regarding its performance / improvements over their last card? Setting and FPS? I realize there are many contributing factors to overall performance. I am just trying to get a general idea of how good this card runs XP. I currently have a GTX 670 4G card.

Hi, I should actually put this is under the hardware section but I am not sure. I am using a Logitech Attack 3 and this is my 6th or 7th Attack 3 as I have a tendency to drop it and this in turn makes it lose the axis alignment, but this time when the alignment had gone wrong I opened it up and managed to get the X axis aligned but the Y Axis is a bit off. Now the problem is when I use this joystick on my Toshiba laptop under FS9 / FSX it just pitches down hence I need to keep the back pressure. But if I use X plane it works perfectly. I tried posting over at the org but no one seems to be home. I'm using the latest xmfc version in the DDENN Challenger. I fly online and ATC gives me direct GFS. I LSK GFS, place it on top of GFS (happens to be the first leg in my STAR) and then press EXEC. In most FMC's this is how you do Direct To. What is actually happening is that the FMC is calculating a track from previous fix to GFS. In esscense it's like an "activate leg." Then the autopilot will turn left (in this example pic) to intercept the track. I don't want this. I want to go direct GFS from PPOS. Am I doing it wrong or is this not possible with XMFC? Ok, it's been a lomg time, and I didn't even remember about the scenery order in the ".ini" file... Well, I downloaded from SimHeaven, World2XP sceneries section: - w2xp_America - w2xp_Europe - w2xp_world-models_ext-LOD but I also installed the typical OSM libraries, including the "Europe_Library", and got a bunch of errors... Then I dropped the Europe_Library from Custom Scenery because after reading the description of the new w2xp sceneries I got the idea it was no longer required ? Hi. I have just bought the B200 on Steam / X-Plan 10. When I fly it above 12,500 I get Alt(itude) Alert telling me the cabin is not pressurising. There is not much documentation with this plane and nothing on the oxygen system. Would someone please explain how to pressurise the cabin? I know where the controls are (next to the autopilot) and the oxygen level dial (co-pilot's station) but whatever I try to do I can't fly higher than 12,500 without the screen going black (which I assume is me blacking out through lack of oxygen?). I reported this bug to Airfoillabs, but I wanted to share the solution. I run X-Plane under linux, and after entering the serial key, the simulator crashed immediately with a SASL error. In the end, I figured out it was a problem with the naming of one of the plugins, Linux reads the capitals as different characters in file names (as it should be). I set up a VOR approach but could not fly it as the DME was reporting an INCREASING distance as I approached the VOR. Any ideas? VOR was VCN. thanks, Andrew

System specs are I5 CPU : 4G 670 GTX GPU : 8G RAM : SSD Drive. I can run X-Plane fairly well at 30 FPS and smooth. Recently I added the W2XP scenery and began getting “Out of memory” errors. I increased the page file size to 7,000mb+ to correct this and Vram does not seem to go above 3.5G. However… 1) I still get OOM errors if I load more than 3 or 4 airports during a single session of XP. 2) If I quit x plane (or get an OOM error) and then launch it again (without rebooting), my FPS drop to about 3 FPS no matter what plane / airport I have loaded. Can anyone suggest what I need to do (via setting up my PC / upgrading) to eliminate t…

Fired up with real time this morning... airport was N14, time a bit after 0600. Sky outside was brightening with blue, and orange near the horizon; however, XPX was basically pitch black with only a hint of the oncoming sunrise... Any way to fix? thx Andrew

For some reason, where Xplane has decided to plunk me down, after all scenery loads, I last 6 seconds before a constant CTD. So, what file, and where is it, to delete, so Xplane will start at its default airport and with the default plane? Until I know...I can't run Xplane.....it keeps crashing 6 seconds into placing me at an airport.

I have a Saitek X52 that I use to fly Helis and stick controlled aircraft (DA 42, sr22 etc.). I mapped the elevator and aileron axis to some rotary dials on the X52 throttle. My problem is that the trim movements are too sensitive; with a slight (and I mean slight) movement of the dial, the plane/heli lurches forward or backward. There is no way to adjust the sensitivity for these axis; however, I did see before closing out the sim last night that you can assign buttons for the elevator and aileron trim controls. How do you all adjust your trim controls, through the axis or buttons? Are the button increments smooth to get just the right setting? With m…

I'm hoping this isn't illegal here, but can anyone send me a copy of lights.txt? I have one, but it includes some edits that I think aren't required anymore and when I updated to 10.41, I told the update process to bypass lights.txt. Any help is certainly appreciated!
