I'm trying to figure out why the heads hake plugging is not working and realized that cinema verity needs to be off. When I try to uncheck it, the check mark does not go away and it seems to be stuck in the on position. Is there a way to turn it off by editing a congig file somewhere. Everything else is working fine and I hate to have to reinstall xplane for this. Rob

The last two nights I've been on longer flights with the Aerobask E1000, when, after about 45 minutes / hour into the flight, I started to get coloured flashing triangles in the sky that sometimes persist - staying in one spot as I pan around. The first time I had seen it, I managed to save my situation, keep flying for awhile more, then have the sim lock up and a windows dialog box pop up saying that the NVidia driver had encountered too many OpenGL errors, and would have to close the application. It also cited 'Error code 1'. I restarted the sim, loaded my situation (had to start the E1000 in the air, but hey...) and was able to finish the next 1-1/2 hours of fligh…

Hello all, I have looked around the internet and I cannot for the life of me find a simple answer to the question, How do I make my hat switch work in X-Plane 10 to be able to pan around the 3-D cockpit? I have a Thrusmaster T Flight HOTAS X joystick and the hat switch works fully with FSX and all my other flight sims, but I cannot get it to work well with X-Plane 10. Is there a specific setting I can use to make the hat switch just pan around? thanks for any help, and sorry to be any bother, RC

I've just noticed that x plane is available as a digital download from the xplane website so my question is as a purchaser of xplane on steam any idea if I can change my copy to the same version as the version that would be bought from the xplane site and not have anything to do with the steam version. I'm fed up of feeling like a second class person for having this version, as currently the steam version (beta enabled)is still at 10.36 even though there is beta version up at 10.40+ . I brought this point up on the steam support for xplane but was told that basically its up to laminar to put the 10.4updates onto steam which they are not !! So tough.

Just installed the updated Challenger and took a few screen shots. The reflections look nice, but its hard to see them in a screenshot. You really need to pan around the plane to appreciate them. Rob Change log: Added Reflections Pluging (experimental), which adds spherical reflections to 3d model in exterior views Known issues - reflections shake a bit with camera or plane movement; some reflections flickering may appear in some areas. For some reason the flickering disappears after checking "Extended DSF scenery" in x-plane's rendering options. Included unoficial patch made by Jack Zero - http://forums.x-plan...405#ent…

Over the years, I have collected a lot of freeware & Payware scenery. The payware almost always works fine, but once in a while, ill get an error message popping up say "This scenery may not look correct" or something to that effect. Its usually a scenery package I don't even remember downloading. I usually write it down and then go back into my custom scenery directory and delete the offending scenery. I try to keep up on all the different library's that different packages use to avoid this type of thing. My question is... 1. Is there a utility that can go through all your installed scenery files to check for problems? I doubt it, but Ill ask anyways. …

Hi, After the first batch of UHD Mesh Scenery tiles released in February 2015, there is now a new set of additional regions to be enjoyed. They are: Northern Washington state (west of the already existing Montana UHD region) Canadian Rockies (between 49N and 55N ... from the Pacific to the plains around Calgary - quite a big area B) ) Scandinavia (Norway, Sweden) Pyrenees in Europe They are all using - just like before - 30m / 1sec resolution data (either from Viewfinderpanoramas / NED or SRTM) and much higher resolution triangle mesh to be able to use all that detailed data. One "difference" is, that the new regions are based on newer Openstreetmap data (from arou…

Did any of our users here go to Oshkosh this year? I'm curious what new or interesting things are happening for X-Plane, i.e. Any secret projects coming out? Did anyone from LR make an appearance?

First off, I had a topic about migrating to XP a while back. I've been playing with it now and I am seriously impressed by the sim and the "realness" factor provided. The new b6 from 10.40 is impressive to say the least. A few questions for the X-plane gurus and to the community: -I am looking for a really good general aviation (single or twin) recip prop to get started, what would everyone recommend? I don't mind paying for quality either. Carenado/Alabeo have fantastic models but I am not sure if their "systems depth" is the same as on the P3D platform. -Is there a utility which changes how ocean waters look at the more tropical locations? I primarily enjoy flyi…

Every once in a while, I open up some of the planes in my virtual X-Plane hanger in plane maker, just to look at how they are built. It always amazes me at how much work goes into these planes and were just looking at the visual model here, not even talking about the systems or flight models yet. Rob

:o http://secure.simmarket.com/fs-limited-rc4toxplane.phtml What is RC4toXplane? It is a fat plugin that sits inside Xplane installation folderResourcesPlugins folder. It provides the glue between the third party Radar Contact V4.3 ATC program and X-Plane, thus bringing an alternative to the default X-Plane ATC system to the table. The problem If you have owned Radar Contact ATC, you may have attempted running it with X-Plane, only to be met with a disappointing error message. Cannot link to FSUIPC or WideClient Add to that, many X-Plane users are frustrated at the primitive Native ATC provided with XPX and you have a scenario for a lot of frustration. The…

A few weeks back we had some unusual solid IFR here in the Denver area, and a cold front extending south (west to east) across the midwest with some also usually bad weather fir summer-time. Liking good IFR/IMC practice, I opened XPX and got real weather downloaded. What I now do is use the "read file now" option of real-weather (not downloading new weather) and can go back and fly that solid IMC any time I want- it's really cool. But being the creative person that I am, and noticing that my KORD weather was marginal VFR (using the read-file-now option), I decided to edit my METAR.rwx file. I decreased the vis from 5sm to 2sm, and after running XPX the saved edit t…

I used XView to allow me to have X-Plane 10 as a scenery viewer for Aerowinx PSX ( the only airline simulation I use these days... actually the only civil flight simulation I use... ). This is a great application, but it has it's limitations, one of them being that you can't really interact with PSX from the X-Plane 10 cockpit. Since real mokup cockpits can be built to interact with PSX, I believe that if some developer decided to create a PSX-dedicated 744 fleet, for X-Plane 10, with a 3d cockpit of the higher grade, it could be used to interact with every system in PSX. I guess it would be a easier task in X-Plane 10, given the burden that clickspots represent f…

I mean...look at the settings I now have as standard There was now way that I could have maintained basically 30 FPS, with these current settings on any other version. What Laminar is doing, is exceptional tweaking of the coding. I now have HDR maxed right out. It doesn't go any more demanding...and just before I shot these dawn scenes....night life below me...streets, cities....OMG!!!! We all know that fog is a GPU killer....and from taxi to current FL270...the numbers pegged at 29-30 FPS! I am in awe.... All this rendering at eye-pleasing and smooth FPS, on a system produced in 2009...older tech, but still kick butt! Dawn is breaking...and so is anoth…

Hi all There's two new really good looking MD80s in the work for XPX right now. Everybody seems to know about the Rotatesim one but there's another one on the XP forums which is being built by a team led by forum user "parsec" too. Both have amazing texturing (pics on the XP forums, check it out). The Rotatesim one also has a high level of system depth (as evidenced by their website) but I have no idea what the system depth will be for parsec's group's md80. I've been following these for a while and was surprised that no one had posted about them so, well, here you go... Let the conversation begin!

Hi, Just wanted to "announce", that in the foreseeable future (coming weeks, as my time permits), a few additional UHD regions might come online: adding most of Northern Washington state (west of the already existing Montana UHD region) adding the Canadian Rockies (between 49N and 55N ... from the Pacific to the plains around Calgary - quite a big area B) ) adding most of Scandinavia (Norway, Sweden) adding Pyrenees in Europe And here is a teaser of the Mount Rainier at UHD res (taken in 10.40b5)
