....a continued exploration of good FPS at maxium sim settings as per original post, and that pic of my rendering screen settings these screen grabs were taken with: Custom KLAX (Los Angeles) and I know that ortho-photoreal can be a real FPS sucker, so... to maintain the FPS shown (all shots were animation smooth, right down to that 13 FPS I had for a second), and to maintain these figures with the sim basically maxed right out...is a feather in the cap to Laminar!

Sorry for the crappy thread title, but I couldn't think of anything else. I just wanted to share my findings in XP after a minor upgrade I did to my computer. I built a computer for my son out of parts I had left over from previous upgrades. The only thing I was missing was a case and Video card. So I gave him my ASUS 660Ti (2gb) and bought an MSI 960 (4GB) for myself. When installing the card in my computer, I noticed there was only one DVI connection on the back and several others I'm not too familiar with, one being HDMI. Hello there can anyone tell me the best clouds package to get for xplane 10, something not too heavy on FPS?

For some reason, nvidia inspector, won't let me change the Verticle Sync from "Use the 3D Application Setting" to "1/2 Refresh Rate". My driver version is 344.75. When I change the setting and click the Apply Changes button, it keeps reverting back to the "Use the 3D Application Setting". Any ideas?

Hello my X-Plane friends (best friends in the world) :Big Grin: I have installed my X-Plane again through Steam. As much as i like P3D my heart is with X-Plane (this was my first love) Here is the thing, i hate the default sky color of the sim, its so dull, i feel like im constantly sitting in the shade. Clouds such as these, not too long ago, would have killed my performance. Now...FPS, yawns at sky full of towering cloud base... The XP code is truly evolving...and not merely lip service.... Not bashing X-Aviation but they don't know what customer service is. I have always supported the small flight simulation community and spend approximately $1000 a year on X-Plane and P3D products. i always try and deal directly with the vendor but X-Aviation is like banging your Head against the wall. I hate piracy and try and support our community but i have to admit I feel really let down by X-Aviation. All the other companies I buy from are great and offer excellent customer service. IE x-plane.org, PMDG, TheFlightSimStore, Flight1 etc... My problem is I have had awful luck with my PC these last 6 months that had required new hardware and the re-installation of wind…

Hi, I am currently an FSX user and have been for years, but have been still thinking about making the change over to X-Plane 10. I tried once before with X-Plane 9 but it simply was no where close to the features I had in FSX. Now that XP-10 is out, I thought I might give it another chance, especially after seeing some cool videos on Youtube. I have a good collection of addon scenery from Orbx for FSX but it takes so long to get new areas released (especially in my home area). I am new to X-Plane after spending many years with FSX and it's predecessors. I have bought X-Plane 10 on Steam, but yet to install it. So I am looking for guideance on how/where best to install. I have a new PC with three drives 1 500Gb SSD with OS 1 520GB SSD empty 1 2TB hybrid drive slowly filling with apps etc. I guess I should install X=Plane on the hybrid the same as Steam. But can I get an advantage in using the SSD for scenery or aircraft that I may add later? Perhaps there is a good noob guide that I should read? Hi Everyone, I'm trying to get an overlay image into WED 1.4 and I keep getting a blank white image. I have used the snipping tool in windows to cut an image from Google Earth and have tried saving it as a jpg, a png and a gif file but the result is the same. I've used this technique before with good results but for the life of me I can't figure out why it isn't working. I am just wanting to use the image to trace around some awkward taxiway areas. ...this is now always the first sim I fire up, and why? Well...these pictures shot last evening, and this morning over the canyon grottoes, should be enough for an explanation... BTW, over those grottoes, in .b3, that FPS figure would have stayed at 29 FPS, and not the current 17, that I now get with .b4. I hope that Ben re-visits the coding in .b3 and brings some, or all of it back in .b5. He struck gold with it.... Leaving FS9 totally out of the mix...for it has very low demands upon a modern system; On my system, at max settings, as compared max settings to either MS-based flight sim platforms, XPX.40b3 (this one...not b2, b1, XPX.36, .35...etc...) this is the smoothest, best-performing flight simulator on my system. Hand's down. Since .b3 has come out...my FPS stays at 29-30 FPS, through cloud so thick, you could think it was custard! I have SkyMaxx Pro cranked up to 90 percent on all the cloud sliders, and still...XPX.40b3 blasts through all complex W2XP and SkyMaxx Pro rendered scenes.... Just wanted some opinions about it.. FF777 IMO just doesn't worth it , as people said it behaves wrong , and visually it's dated.. FF757 visually looks better , although VC texture are wayyyy too dark , however there is a great replacement for those. So does the FF757 behaves correctly? And where is it compared a PMDG airliner for example? Watching videos it looks great system-wise but yet Im asking to get a deeper impression about it.

Another X-Plane 10 Newbie Question. Is there a file or files that contain key strokes and joystick button assignments. If so, I would plan on backing these up.

I am new to X-Plane within this last month. To open the default popup GNS-530, I click on it in the 3-D panel. My question: is there a way to close the popup GNS-530 without having to go back and click on it in the 3-D panel? I have tried clicking on the popup and I can seem to find an easy way to close it.
