  1. In the 3-D cockpit view, when I hover over the heading or course knobs and turn my mouse wheel, instead of the course or heading change, the panel zooms forward or back? What am I doing wrong? There must be a trick that I can't seem to figure out. I have flown FSX for many years and am now just switching to x-plane. Can't seem to find the answer in the manual or by goggling.

Maybe a stupid question: I have North America, Europe and Australia DLC as installed regions. However, starting a flight at NTTB I get the warning that there is no scenery installed. What scenery area does Oceania then belong to? Could it be Asia? The remaining South America doesn't make much sense. Thanks

  5. The Reality Expansion Pack is software meant to improve the realism of X-Plane 10, targeting specific airplanes already in the market (for example, the Carenado C210). Every REP package will enhance a different aircraft. At the beginning of this video you may notice the attitude indicators animations and the stunning wind sounds. The weight and balance tool is used to load the plane before startup. Also, please pay attention to the takeoff and climb out; when the gear is being retracted, the drag induced by the wheels rotating of 90° is preventing the plane to speed up to the Vy. As soon as the gear is retracted, the Centurion goes up like a rocket. At landing you will he…

I'm trying to resize my X-Plane 10 window but I found that unlike FSX / P3D, I cannot resize my X-Plane window less than 1024x768. Is there any way to resize it to an even smaller resolution than the locked value of 1024x768? Regards,

Finally some news about 10.40 has appeared http://developer.x-plane.com/2015/06/x-plane-10-40-the-new-dsf-loader/ The new DSF loader hopefully will fix some of the stuttering problems which happens when flying and the sim is loading in the background. There is also some information about the extended region/visibility

I'm not a member on HiFi's forum, but I saw this posted elsewhere as a quote from their site. "With FS, we've worked about 12 years now on refining and improving depiction, improving our understanding of the depiction systems of FS, finding work-arounds to problems, etc. With X-Plane it's entirely different and we are starting from scratch. Weather stations, depiction modes, global vs. station based considerations, transitions, ambient wx control, cloud position capability, visibility effects, vertical air, effects in general, etc... these are things that are all specific to a sim and in X-Plane, much of what we've done in FS may not be possible at all. On the other …

  11. ...right now, I'm in an FS9 flight between KMYR and KFNT...and in interacting with MyTraffic for FS9, and more importantly, the A.T.C. Microsoft module, AND...the fact that Xplane has NEVER had a truly RL A.T.C. experience for the user...boy, can we take the A.T.C. Microsoft coding for sheer granted! Too bad that Laminar can't seem to write the same-feature A.T.C. interaction for Xplane. It's been so long, in the asking, I truly don't believe that it will every come to realization. We have had the M.S. version for as far back as FS95 (where I jumped onboard with M.S.). Also, too bad, that Laminar Research could not license and convert the code for usage inside …

17 FPS on final MisterX LAX / LES Saab 340 / NOAA Wx plugin / HD Mesh v3. It's ok with me if it's normal... just seems a little low when I hear people screaming about their 40 fps. Specs in sidebar but here's the basics: 2500K @ 4GHz / 8GB 1866mhz ram / GTX 970 using one monitor for XP and one for charts / XP10 latest ver on 500GB (150GB free) 840 Evo

Never having flown a turboprop aircraft, I have a few questions. This is not related to any one model or sim, for that matter. For now, i'm learning the Carenado PC-12 and soon. I will pick up the LES Saab. Whenever I fly a turboprop, the aircraft seems to roll quite a bit once the brakes or released. This happens in every turboprop model I've flown in X-plane or FSX. Is this how it really is? I feel like i'm always riding the brakes when taxing along. Do these aircraft go through brake pads faster that piston or Jet aircraft? I have a button on my HOTAS system set to reverse thrust. I've used this once in a while in flight with Turboprops and it does a great job…

I recently watched a Froogle video showing how UTX Europe V2 looks in P3D. In part of it he is showing the Southhampton area. Thought I would compare W2XP UK Pro with payware VFR Photoscenery (objects set ot extreme but great FPS). Slam dunk really. https://youtu.be/npIJuJTHOxo Thanks again Tony for such a great application. (Apologies if this is getting boring but it never ceases to amaze me). cheers Peter PS - really enjoying the new Dreamfoil Embraer 110 now I have it tweaked, the sound is fixed and sussed out how it flies - very rewarding. Just love the sound of those turboprops. PPS FRAPS and Movie maker have darkened everything down as ever.

  15. I am running X-Plane on a 4K monitor at 30-40FPS in New York suburbs/airport + weather + plugins + HS scenery. On my 1080P monitor, the MSAA was set to 8x (maximum) and gave the same FPS but at 4 times less resolution! On my 4K monitor, I have MSAA set to 4X (second highest setting) and get 30-40 FPS in New York and over 100 FPS flying at altitude with a high cloud draw distance. There is no loss of picture quality between these two settings, and 4K monitor gives better performance and overall picture quality. Never again will I be gaming on 1080P monitors. My CPU is 4.6GHZ OC i7 4790 and GTX 970. Has anyone else here noticed this too?

I'm looking through the list of European W2XP sceneries at SimHeaven and they are all named by country, execpt for one slightly ambiguous one called "D+A+CH". Would I be correct in thinking this is Germany, Austria and Switzerland all in one package?

  17. Lately, I have been looking at Navigraph, for one, and their prices are listed in Euros. Being from the USA, I have a problem with understanding whether I can complete a transaction and have it show up in USD. When I go to this site (or their competitor's site), the eu price shows up and no mention of USD is made. My question is - do credit card companies figure this out and, if so, how do I know how much it is going to cost before pushing the button? Thanks for (hopefully) coming to my assistance in this matter. John

I’m contacting Nvidia now to figure out what has happened. In the meantime, to fly X-Plane, use the previous 340.52 WHQL driver. I’ll post more when I learn more; we’ll resolve this with either a driver update or an X-Plane update, based on what has actually gone wrong and which can happen first.

Hi, I am a long time glider pilot and was a bit disappointed with the thermal simulator on X-plane 10, so, I wrote a python plugin to better emulate the behaviour of thermals on Xplane. It is still an early release, but it is already quite usable. The code is at https://github.com/alexferrer/xplane_thermals Advanced concepts already implemented: Regular Thermals (not dynamic lift) tend to have a strong core of lift followed by outward softer layers of lift. Thermals drift with the wind as they gain altitude. Thermals rise till they reach cloudbase or the top of the lift. At this point they dwindle off. When a wing of a plane hits a thermal and the o…

  24. Check out this video. You will see my hardware at the start. Take notice of the 4.7GHZ OC speed! I am achieving around 30FPS in the most scenery demanding place for flight simulators: New York. Here I fly out of La Guardia with the Drewski New York airports DLC. I do not think my GTX 970 is good enough. Should I consider buying the Titan X?
