Hardware Controllers: Joysticks/Yokes | Throttle Quads | Rudder Pedals | Drivers etc

This is a forum to discuss issues with Joysticks, pedals, yokes, other interface hardware like panels, etc.

  1. Hi, I bought Saitek Pro Flight Yoke System for my FSX several days ago. I downloaded its latest driver but it is very small (less than 5 m). I run the driver as well as its calibration but nothing has installed in my computer regarding Saitek. Is there something wrong in this respect? Also do you have any recommendations for me on the best settings and tweaks for the yoke system? Do you recommend installing Saitek SST software? I am going to use yoke system for PMDG MD-11 and 777.

  2. Hello! I was deciding between the Saitek yoke and rudder or the X55. Dont wanna get too indepth but is the X55 good for boeings like the NGX 737 and cessnas or would it make sense to get the 6 year old yoke? Will using an X55 feel weird and is it any good to set flaps as there isnt really a lever or anything like that? You get what I mean, If i want to fly Boeings and Cessnas, whats better? x55 or saitek yoke and rudder and what are the cons of both of them (the x55 and yoke, besides the rudder) and ill just tell me whats better for me. Please dont say its up to you, i dont want this to go too indepth, just looking for 1 or 2 straight forward answers Th…

  3. Started by Demious,

As many other I have build all my hardware into a selfbuild panel and all the wiring is bundeled in the back of the casing, guided through holes in the casing to get to the computer, so it's not easy to untie everything if a single componant has to be removed. Now I mostly fly with my Saitek yoke, but now I want to start flying a P51, I want to use my old x-52 stick for that. I know it's not preferable to connect both yoke and joystick, but is there a way that I can simply connect my joystick to the front of the computer for when I use this one aircraft, without having to open up the back of my panel and mess with the bundels of wiring in the back to disconnect the yoke…

Hi folks, Interested in purchasing one of the Elite throttles, either the King Air version or the MEL; does anyone have / know if they currently work with P3D v2.2? Cheers

  5. Sorry if this has been mentioned already, but I couldn't the answer in the forums and I didn't see it in the manual.... Is it possible to assign one command to two buttons -- pressed simultaneously -- on a joystick with FSUIPC? Basically, I'd like to reassign the trigger button (which it seems is often used for brakes) as a kind of Shift or Control key for other buttons on the joystick. The idea is to be able to perform actions by simply just pressing the trigger and then another button with one hand and thus not have to use my other to press a separate key on the keyboard, which something I know how to do already. Hope that makes sense. Thanks!

There are references on the net that recomend white lithium grease or spray, or some other nylon friendly lube, for a metal shaft with nylon bushings. Yet despite well known sticking problems, Saitek says not to lubricate the metal shaft of its Proflight yoke? Any ideas why? Thx, Al

When I turn the wheel that comes on the multipanel, my trim wheen in the VC hardly moves (use in A2A cessna and Cherokee) ie I have to keep rolling it for ages to trim up or down. Is there any way of increasing its movement /speed or is this how a real trim wheel works? Regards Steve

None of my FSX controllers are Saitek, but I'm tempted to buy their Cessna trim wheel. I assume that I can use it without other Saitek products. Has anyone sucessfully set up this trim wheel using FSUIPC rather than Saitek software? If so, I would appreciate any hints. Second question -- do I need to download the driver from Saitek? Thanks. Bill

Hi, I'm having a problem with my Saitek Multi Panel. This problem occurs whether I use the PMDG birds or add-ons based on a default panel (i.e PA A380). The problem is that whenever I twist the silver knob to select a value on the display, the lights that are on flash off and back on once for every virtual "Click" on the knob. Also, sometimes it turns off the lights that were on and turns on the lights that were off. I am using SPAD with the Saitek panel drivers uninstalled from my system. Has anyone encountered this issue and solved it? Thank you in advance.

Hi, I have a question about joystick assigned button layout in FSX. As I am living in a different country now, my main FSX computer is laptop and I don't carry my joystick with me. I am using Logitech Attack 3 but now I have to buy a new joystick which is Logitech Extreme 3D Pro. My question is I have assigned key to my other joystick so when I get the new joystick, can I still use the same button or do I need to assign again? If I have to assign, will I lost previously assigned button? Thanks

I have bought two rudder pedals in the past two years, both were Saitek, one the Pro Flight Rudder Pedals and the other the Combat Rudder Pedals. Two of them have decided to die on me. I am NOT happy at all after spending well over 200 Euro on the two! Never again will I buy a Saitek rudder pedal! Now with the rant over, is there any QUALITY rudder pedals out there apart from the awful plastic Saiteks? Price range 50-500 Euro.

  14. I have a build using all saitek products ( as I think most non-professionals do for budget reasons) running FSX but I have just purchased my first piece of Go Flight being the GF-RP48 as I want to use two of the 4 rotary switches for rudder and aileron trims and the 8 push buttons will give good functionality for othe r things.. Having downloaded the latest config file from GoFlight I got it working without any issue but the rotary knobs work in reverse. i.e. when knob is assigned to aileron trim, turning the knob clockwise makes the plane bank to the left.. same with rudder trim. Havent tried anything else but assume it to be the same. I am waiting on advice from Gof…

  15. Somebody help please! I installed my Saitek Pro Flight Yoke System and noticed that the Button 1 (Single button), behind the hat switch left hand side “by default I think it is supposed to be brake” is triggering Toggles no 3 instead, which is by default Elevator trim down. A1 (Button 3) a rocker switch on the left is also triggering that same Toggles no 3 as well. So both A1 (Button 3) and Button 1 are triggering Toggles no 3, nothing triggers Button 1. Is this normal? If not is there a fix?

Bonjour, I have a X52 (not PRO) which I ,think is a common device with FSX. Can anybody confirm this just to help me understand. The elevator in FSX (with aileron centered) works by fits and starts when I move it slowly.. When I keep a button pushed (for example T1) then the elevator works smoothly. Also if the aileron is not centered the elevator works smoothly. So the solution is to have the T1 switch blocked in the down position. But it is not a very satisfying solution. Any idea ? Best regards Claude

  17. I am putting a FIP gauge together and want an 'almost empty' fuel warning light. As a non programmer, I have figured out that the following will work to shift an image when fuel is 7% of capacity. (7% is 5 gallons in a BB58 tank) <Element> <Image Name="light_red2.bmp" ImageSizes="28,28,28,28" /> <Shift> <Value Minimum="0" Maximum="1">(A:FUEL TANK LEFT MAIN LEVEL,percent) int 7==</Value> <Nonlinearity> <Item Value="0" X="315" Y="150" /> <Item Value="1" X="100" Y="145" /> </Nonlinearity> </Shift> </Element> However the warning l…

I have two throttle quadrants attached to my yoke. When tested with fsuipc, throttle 1 shows full movement with axis X Y and Z but quadrant 2 only has full movement for axis Z. X and Y are acting as an on/off switch. I am trying to calibrate the two quadrants for the King Air B200 with two throttle controls, two prop condition controls and two mixture controls. Can anybody help? Thanks, Richard Halton

I was thinking about getting this joystick to replace my Logitech 3D as I could use more buttons and something more precise. I've seen some good reviews of it on YouTube but when I go to Amazon I see a lot of negative reviews saying the raw axis "dies" after just a few months. Does anyone here have experience with this controller (Saitek/Mad Catz FLY5)?

  22. Hello to all! I've been piloting a while, and I have been very happy with the Saitek Pro Flight Yoke, but it has seemed to have died on me, that the LCD will not light, nor will the computer recognize the USB device at all. When plugging in the device, the Power LED on the throttle part comes on VERY briefly, but very quickly extinguishes. The small LCD on the main yoke fails to show any signs of life. I have opened it up and tested that the USB cable leading into the yoke is still good, and a few other basic things, and all my tests check out. I'm not sure at all what is causing this. Does anyone know what I may need to do? I would be happy with a solution of a …

  23. I bought my Saitek Pro rudder in early 2012. Since I never found any problems with it, and they still work great, no spikes whatsoever, I wonder if there are any of you with experience in any sort of maintenance for that rudder set? Any suggestions? Thx a lot!

  24. Connected a Saitek Backlit Information Panel (BIP) to my computer, programmed using their software, and installed SPAD drivers. When SPAD initializes, all of the BIP tiles light up briefly, so I know it works to at least some minimal level. In FSX, nothing. I mostly fly a default C172; when things light up in the FSX cockpit (oil pressure, Com 1, Com 2, Nav 1, etc) for which I have a corresponding BIP tile, those things don't respond as I would expect them to. When I try a default 737, still nothing. Thoughts? Thanks. Scott

I'm looking at doing a lot more online flying. I have a cheapy headset which does the job, but sadly, due to my speakers already using the jack plug to feed the sound through, I'm unable to feed the sound of the ATC through my headset only. Really frustrating. I don't want to replace my speakers as they're incredibly good and expensive, so I was looking at BlueTooth headsets. Has anyone got any recommendations? Will I be able to feed just the ATC sound through the headset with no problems? Thanks in advance
