Hardware Controllers: Joysticks/Yokes | Throttle Quads | Rudder Pedals | Drivers etc

This is a forum to discuss issues with Joysticks, pedals, yokes, other interface hardware like panels, etc.

Hey there, I am very new to the hardware stuff and need some orientation. I am using my saitek x52 for flying (P3D) and thats fine for me. Now I am looking for a way to set ALT, HDG & Speed in my Aerosoft A320 with keys/knobs. 1. is there cheap hardware like a panel with 3 rotary knobs that can handle this via usb? 2. Can it be assigned to any button on my Saitek in a way that holding the button longer would speed up the amount of change? 3. I have a scroll wheel on my keyboard on the left side. Would it be possible with any software to assign like [A]+scroll = ALT change, +scroll=Sped change, [D]+scroll=Heading change? (guess the keys would have to fake the mouse h…

Good day All My CH Yoke has started to give me a problem with the throttle, prop and mixture controls. All other axis and buttons working correctly. The T,P and M axis all show as being good and working in the setting, calibration and testing stages but will not move the T,P or M controls of any of the aircraft. I have the CH TQ but I have made sure that non of the TQ axis are interfering with the Yoke. This is ONLY happening with FS9. In FSX all the axis are working fine. Any suggestions as to where to look gratefully accepted please Mike Pilarejo Spain

  3. With two stipulations! NO Logitech G940 (tried 3 of them, hated them)NO MS Sidewinder FFB2 (Windows 7 won't recognize the one I have, I really loved this stick)I'm up for suggestions. Low price, high price, whatever. Anyone have experience with Force Feedback products other than the two above, that they can recommend? Please let me know. I'll be using it with FSX and FsForce2 Registered. Thanks!

Hi all. I'm looking for a yoke to upgrade my Saitek which is shot. I don't really want another Saitek, I want something smoother and more heavyweight. My budget is probably around £300. Ultimately, I would like the Yoko yoke, but that is outside my price range at the moment. I know there are a lot of smaller companies who make high quality yokes but I am seeking knowledge of the users of AVSIM to give me some good recommendations. Thanks for any advice/help. Callum.

If anyone is interested, got some requests for how I make my GoFlight module face plates, so thought it a good idea I should share. I use Front Panel Designer software (Free) I've created templates for the P8, T8, RP48. Adjust the text to whatever you want to use, print out on a printer (suggest Laser with thick paper), then laminate. Cut out (button wholes I use exacto knife), for switch and/or knob holes I use Long neck 1/4" or 5/16" hole punch. If you want to get a more professional real metal faceplate, then you can send the templates away to Front Panel Express folks and they will make it happen and ship to you ... if you do order metal faceplates I …

I just did a clean install of Windows 7 and FSX and FS2004. My problem is this: the mouse scroll wheel does not work in either 2d or 3d cockpit in FSX. I can't manipulate things like the altimeter or radio knobs with the scroll wheel, only with the left mouse button. In FS2004 the scroll wheel only works when in windowed view mode, not full screen mode. I've tried multiple re-installs of Windows and FS and this problem keeps happening. My computer seems to be running fine in all regards other than this. I also have XPlane10 installed and it is running fine. Really hoping someone can help with this. Thanks. My specs are: Windows 7 x64 I5 4440 …

I talked to customer service at Thrustmaster about T-16000M Joystick and she advised me to use the TARGET software program to move keyboard controls to stick for simpler and better control options (carrier landings). She also advised me to search online for someone that has already used system and get feedback for pros and cons and procedure. I read about 4 pages in manual, got the general idea, could get a little involved. Is this a good idea or is there better method? 9. Hi All- Reinstalled FSX on a new machine with the specs listed in my signature, running a Windows 10 Premium 64-bit OS. Everything working just fabulously, smooth performance, etc with a number of updated current scenery, aircraft, and other add-ons installed. I have a number of Go Flight modules, al working just fine. The only problem is, after I program or load a flight plan into the Integrated Simavionics Gauges (ISG) Smith's FMC, the Go Flight MCP Pro will not track the magenta course line in VORLOC mode. It will track VOR radials and an ILS, but it will not work in NAV mode. In the past, with FSX in Windows 7 and NAV mode selected in the aircraft, my older, …

  10. Recently had my middle throttle on my Saitek throttle quadrant snap off at the base. Does anyone in Australia happen to have a spare laying around? Doesn't have to be a blue knob lever as long as the other ones will work fine. Happy to pay for it and cover postage as well. Fingers crossed. Josh Oram

  11. As in the title, on ebay there is a CH Yoke and CH Pedals for $200AUD which are at least 9 years old. Alternatively I was looking at a new CH Yoke Eclipse for $280, brand new. I currently have an X52 with no pedals, personally I think I would be happy with the paddle rudder pedals on the Eclipse (only fly airliners) but it would be great to have proper pedals. I suppose it comes down to the regular CH yoke vs the CH Eclipse, is there a big difference? Unable to find a decent direct comparison between the two. I would continue to use my X52 as a throttle. Thoughts welcome. Cheers, Joe.

Well, this is the $1000 dollar question that perhaps no-one will be able to answer, but here goes... I'm in the market for a new yoke and have narrowed my choice to either the PFC Saab or Beech yoke OR the Yoko yoke. They both seem to get good reviews and construction looks very similar. Price point looks to be identical (around $900), especially since Yoko appears to gave made their price more competitive. So, I'm really wanting to get personal experiences from those who use either product. It would be nice to try both first but that just isn't possible. Most of my flying is in the Q400 and bizjets with occasional C182 hop. I use TrackIR so a hat switch isn't ne…

  13. So ive been playing well enough with this fantastic addon + joystick and suddenly i cant feel the yoke movement when i trim I can feel bumps, the test in profile seems fine and the test tool in the web seems ok also. What can be the problem. I mainly use the 737 so in theory this is no problem but today i wanted to fly the baron and the joystick wasnt tilting aft when i trimmed up. I wanna know if there is something wrong with my joystick or my pc software. I tried registering in the official forums but they wont send the activation email. Thanks.

Hi, As a backup system when away from my main base I use a Widows 7 Professional laptop system running FSX:SE as my flightsim.. Recently I bought another Saitek Pro Flight Yoke and quadrant because my joysticks were useless. My main system is an old Dell 32 bits running Windows XP (still the best!). I have the full yoke and two quadrants and various Saitek panels which all work well. I have installed the correct Saitek Drivers for my 64 bit system and as far as I can see they worked ok. However there is one problem and that is that the display on the Yoke does not show the time. This is not crucial except that i tend to use the timer to tell me when to start a…

  17. Hi, After a 2 year break from FSX, 5/6 months ago I decided to get back in again. I purchased FSX:SE, but soon found that my Saitek Cyborg X was well and truly broken (Constant spiking of nearly every axis). I was somewhat unimpressed with how my Saitek product lasted, and as an avid racing fan and owning the Logitech G27 as well as various other Logitech products, and with their reputation for quality I brought the Extreme 3D Pro, to tie me over. Whilst I am incredibly impressed by the Logitech - the only thing I dislike is the little throttle, I feel as though this is not realistic, and I struggle to get a full grasp of what my aircraft is doing. I mainly fl…

Hi My ailerons are going spiky . You can se the aircraft bank in small spiky movements. My yoke is a Saitek Pro flight. 1.5 years old. I have done the following: Calibrating my yoke, tried all kinds of sensitivity and deadzone settings, fiddled with FSUIPC. Its hasnt changed anything. Also, when in the VC the AC yoke is like very nervous. I dont know the proper english word, but its like not moving in a smoothe way, but ¿jittereing, zittering? :-) Any suggestions ?

Hey folks as the title says, I'm looking for a mid to high end yoke. I have a Saitek yoke now for about a year or so and its ok. I'm looking for something thats smoother and maybe no huge detent in the middle as this one has. Trying to stick landings where the yoke feels like it borderline gets stuck in the middle is getting a little old. I think even my CH yoke was much smoother than this one. Only reason I replaced it was the table mount was pretty terrible and starting to break. What's everyone using out there? PS - realized I left out the budget - I con't mind dropping some coin for a long lasting quality yoke but I'd prefer to not spend over $500 USD.

After 8 years my trusty Saitek yoke is starting to falter. To that end, it's time for a replacement; unfortunately, it appears Saitek itself is in demise, so I won't order a replacement from them. I'd be grateful for any recommendations you may have! I'm currently considering the following: https://goflightinc.com/store/?model_number=GF-VantEdge or http://www.vrinsightshop.com/shop/step1.php?number=54 only caveat, it needs to have a hat switch...I'm not a big fan of trackIR. Thank you!!

Got my instrument panels working again so I thought I would update my unregistered FSUIPC4 to 4.959 as I haven't updated it for years but now my flight instrument panels won't even bootup there is power to them as the screen changes are slightly different colour black but nothing is displayed on them anyone else had this issue and did you find a work around? Many thanks Steve

Hi everyone. I currently own a CH Flight Yoke that i've been using for quite some time. There are a few things about it that i've started to dislike recently. The roll potentiometer has started to malfunction slightly when the yoke is deflected a considerable amount to the left. Other than that my biggest gripe is the plastic shaft that seems to flex and cause binding issues near the yoke's traverse limits. I primarily fly the a2a cessna 172 for supplemental practice/training for my real world flying so the Saitek Cessna Yoke peaked my interest. However it seems it's been discontinued. there are a few used ones floating around at some pretty high prices. so my questions…

  24. I suffered a lot of pain after receiving my very fine Thrustmaster Hotas Warthog - in terms of figuring out how to configure it, how to get FSX to see it even after I had disabled all control surfaces WITHIN FSX, and how to solve difficult problems like separately controlling left versus right engines, achieving proper max and IDLE thrust, and getting the REVERSERS to come on when I lift and then pull back the throttles past their "IDLE" position (and pull them further towards me).So I am beginning this thread as a roundtable for other Warthog drivers to share their experiences and nuances of the control surfaces, and how they interact with FSX and other Flight Sim produc…

I've always had problems with USB hubs and, sometimes, USB ports in computers. Not just my sim computer. Seems there's always one that's flakey. Controllers plugged into USB hubs tend, to me, to make them more intermittent. I have 4 controllers, keyboard, mouse, headphones. My current USB hub is powered and has 6 slots. Wondering if there's a specific kind of USB hub that is more reliable or, perhaps, settings in my Gigabyte BIOS that might make this more stable.
