MTOP setting
Thanks ckyliu I never realized there was thrust left, yes once I tapped F4 I got over red line like 105% or something (I brought it back down quickly). Also, reading further about MTOP it appears thrust already needs to be max to engage it...

Q400 and landing? (majestic)
Landing the Q400 (which has been well documented) is ALL about thrust. For flaps 15 I believe pitch should be about 1 degree nose up and flaps 35 2-3 degrees nose down. Set that and forget it! Use thrust to adjust everything... and the best advice is to leave thrust ON for touch down! It's not like a jet where 20ish feet above you go to idle that will cause the dash to drop like a rock. It's all due to the small thin wings (which gives the good fuel economy) but at low speed they're useless. It's possible to make reliable good soft short field landings, just need practice and adhering to the thrust not pitch to maneuver on final.

MTOP setting
Hello All, I'm having issues setting the MTOP for take-off. I'm not sure when to press it; I've been pressing it as part of my before take off checks and it shows up and indicates 100% in blue but then seems to reset after a few seconds to 90%. Then I'll try and set it again after I'm rolling with throttles already full forward and it seems to stay there but it's quite awkward taking my hand off the joystick to get to the mouse to look down to push the button to look back up and half off the small rwy... I'm doing some short gravel fields in northern Quebec (3,500ft long by maybe 100 ft wide) and need the 100%. FSX, Pilot edition. Thanks!

Make sure the fuel is ON from the tanks; check the roof.

Lateral Stability of the B1900D
Hi John, Make sure you have significant weight on board. I've found with an empty plane it's REALLY squirrely. Don't have to be at max weight, but empty she doesn't fly well. You can edit the aircraft.cfg to have default weight at the different stations (seats). I've set mine to have at least half passenger seats full; this way a) you won't forget and b) you don't have to input 9+ passengers for each flight. Good Luck Lindsey

Silencing gear horn
Hi All, is there a way to silence the gear horn? There's a button on the side of the throttle and the mouse turns to a "clicker" hand over it but nothing happens when clicking it. It's rather annoying when flying vfr cutting throttles to get a better rate of descent. There's also a switch lower right of pilot panel but this also seems to have no function... and yes I know I could always drop the gear.

Takeoff performance
Hi Guys, I'm at work and planning a flight from KBFI Boeing Field to Friday Harbour KFHR; alas I don't have my docs from home. So seeing if anyone is quick on the ball Friday Harbour Rwy length is 3,402' with 0.8% upslope (can't remember if the takeoff charts detail that) assume ISA. Apt Elev 113'. I found online basic OP weight with 2 crew of 10,685 and simbrief giving me IFR block fuel of 2,450 lbs. So using 13,135 lbs and the above rwy, how much weight can I load? Thanks! :Big Grin:

updated FDE?
I haven't tested the AP tracking much yet but the FDE is VERY squirrelly when lightly loaded. Set at least half pax and about 100lbs in the front and 1,000 in the back holds it's MUCH better.

Condition Levers
Great explanation thanks Ken!

Bleed Air Valves
ok last one I promise... for now hehe Again using the B200 Aeroworx checklist; it states to put the "Bleed Air Valves" to OPEN for engine starting and t/o. Formally using the PMDG 737 this seem counterintuitive as normally close them (if I recall correctly) to divert all air to the engines and not to the environmental. The positions on the B1900 are "open" "Envir Off" and "Inst & "Envir Off". I like to fly as "real as it gets". I'm putting together a new comprehensive checklist (other than the hot starts, clearing etc) Thanks!

Condition Levers
The checklist I have (it's for the Aeroworx King Air 200, as I can't seem to find my B1900 checklist) has mentions of putting the condition levers into low idle during the start procedures etc. It doesn't have anything about putting them to high idle for t/o or landing... is this correct use of them? I've read that MSFS doesn't simulate their use very well and that leaving them in low idle is a more realistic "feel".

Comm1, Comm2 question?
ahh ok thanks Scott. I was probably flipping back and forth re-starting the text each time! It was a dark night cruise so I was bored and the text was quite bright compared to the background. I think I'll take the text off anyways as it's not very realistic.

Comm1, Comm2 question?
Late to the party here but noticed the same problem on my last flight. I don't have tool tips active but I had an ATIS freq on Com 2 (analogue) and centre frequency on Com 1 (GNS). I flicked the audio panel switches so Com 2 was UP (active) and it looks to be connected to Com 1 as only one of them can be "on" at a time. Listened to ATIS, wrote it down, then flicked back to Com 1. I noticed the ATIS text continued to scroll and update across the top of my screen even though Com 1 was active. Am I missing something? I'm at work so am only visualizing the panel but is there a way to listen to Com 2 while remaining on active Com 1? Thanks!

Converting FS9 Flight Plan
Hello, I'm having issues converting FS9 flight plans into PMDG. I have the one utility (not on home cpu so can't remember name, sorry) which I just drag and drop fs9 flight plan on to the program and it converts it. The problem is, and I believe, the readme file stated it doesn't convert altitudes so VNAV won't work. What is the best way to convert / create flight plans to PMDG (not manually and for free) and have full functioning fmc (i.e. vnav and lnav)? Thanks!
