Hardware Controllers: Joysticks/Yokes | Throttle Quads | Rudder Pedals | Drivers etc

This is a forum to discuss issues with Joysticks, pedals, yokes, other interface hardware like panels, etc.

I have a 3 piece Thrustmaster set which includes a Throttle, Rudder pedals and Joystick. Most of the time they all work well together. There are times, however, when the aircraft rudder pedals start moving on their own. During taxi it causes the airplane to suddenly veer to the right or left, and inflight the nose oscillates from side to side. When this happens it's nearly impossible to calibrate the rudder. The rudder slider on the Thrustmaster control panel calibration scale will not respond properly when twisting the joystick, which I use as a tiller while taxiing. I've tried adjusting the sensitivity and null zones in the P3D control panel, but nothing seems to help.…

  2. I use a Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback 2 joystick, and a Thrustmaster TWCS throttle for the majority of my simming, but I'm looking for a small analog joystick to use with my laptop when I'm working away from home. The smaller the better, it's mainly for takeoff and landing. 2-Axis or 3-Axis is fine, not concerned about buttons. USB connection preferred. Any suggestions?

Received mine yesterday,Here are my first impressions,And I need to first state that I've been using The Thrustmaster F/A-18C Stick for a few months so I'll be comparing the two. It feels about 60% lighter than The TM Stick ,and a lot less Bulky. The Buttons are all working but lack a responsive feel, The trigger seems to lack any pressure and feels a bit cheap, and toy like. The Weapons Selector switch is very nice and easy to use,I love how you'll need to "Unlock It" or push In then Up to take it out of "Off" mode....This seems like such a '60's-'70's type of "Safety" of that Era....**It reminds me of an Old Chevy Muscle Car with a Manual Transmissi…

Hello! I’m gonna talk about choosing the yoke for simulation. Today’s fight: CH Products Eclipse Vs Honeycomb Aeronautical. CH Eclipse: Pluses: Good size (a little smaller than Honeycomb) A lot of useless buttons 😁 Good price for it’s quality (180$) Removable throttle quadrant (that’s good cause I’m using one already) 6 axes (ailerons, elevators, rudder, throttle, prop control and mixture) You don’t have to be very strong or accurate to fly (I mean you might feel good when using it) Nice design Nice quality Compact. Doesn’t require a lot of space on your table. Always in stock everywhere! M…

Dear all, I am looking to build a throttle quadrant with the Arduino nano (I think - I will have to check). Could anyone help me or point me in the right direction to a step-by-step tutorial? Many thanks, Alexander

One of my roll axis centering springs broke. I was able to find a replacement at the local Ace Hardware... I’m up and running but it’s not exactly right. I need a bit heavier roll axis. Any pointers on where I could source a set of springs locally and reasonably? Ta- C

Has anyone actually got their hands on a working model of the Honeycomb Yoke or Throttle? It looks like it would be a great Yoke and I am sure there are a lot of people waiting for it. But it is starting to look like just air ware.

  9. I know not many have this new yoke yet. I was lucky to receive mine yesterday. Has anyone figured out if there's a way to screw the yoke directly to a tray in a home cockpit such as the chairs from Gleim Aviation or Volairsim? At one point they had stated they'd share the same mounting pattern as Saitek, but as I'm looking at mine, it seems there is no way to directly screw the yoke to a tray. It seems we may be forced to use the "suction plate". Which I can screw to the tray and then mount, but wish there was more consideration to this.

hi today i bought a used saitek pro flight yoke with throttle. I have a problem with my ailerons axis. Everything is set up in FSUIPC (calibration, axis, buttons) with deleted assigments in p3d(4.4). Everything seems to working fine besides one thing - when i turn yoke to the right it starts shaking some times. I could see ailerons shaking/vibrating form outside view and from virtual cockpit. It happens often when turning yoke (aileron axis) to the right and keep it in turn for 1-2 sec. Saitek is connected direct to usb in pc. Delta in FSUIPC is in default state 256 and default fsuipc sensitivity. Tried rebuild p3d.cfg and setup all in stock p3d controls. It happ[ens on a…

  12. I expect you were expecting to see a link to a great bit of hardware. Sadly I can't do that because I have yet to find what for me would be the perfect throttle quadrant. So let me describe what would be something I would buy as soon as it became available and the price wouldn't be a major deterrent unless it was extremely silly money. I'm going to surprise you by saying the template for it would be the Logitech / Saitek Throttle Quadrant with some changes / improvements. That unit ticks so many boxes. It would be a six lever unit - so two Logitech style units combined into one with a single USB connection. It would have a metal case with metal leve…

  13. Sorry just my dark sense of humor!! I am pretty sure it does exist but looking back at all the internet noise I can find exactly 2 people who have actually hooked one of these units to their computer. I look at the Honeycomb web site and no customer service emails. Like most silly facebook pages it is nothing but dribble. I am just wondering how many others who like me have pre-ordered and are just kind of scratching their head and wondering if we have bought another flight sim "pig in a poke" It is not the money that concerns me as I have gambled much more than a couple hundred dollars on a poker hand and lost. LOL!! What does concern me is that I may have put trust in a…

Hi I just joined, I didnt know there was a forum for MS Flight sim X so real happy to have found one!!! We just bought our daughter her first flight sim package as she wants to be a pilot a great profession and even more so that she is only 10! She loves flying the cessna on FSX and that led us to get her the logitech/saitek yoke, throttle quadrant, switch gear and also a set of thrustmaster pedals. I have managed to set up the yoke and the throttle on the quadrant but I am unable to set up the switch gear or the pedals. I am a little lost here and my daughter is getting frustrated not being able to fully use her new controllers. There deos…

Why can we get force feedback steering wheels for under $300 like the Logitech G920 but can't find a force feedback yoke for under 2k? Force feedback is a MUST in simulation. I have the G920 for my racing sim and it adds a tonne of realism...would not drive without it.

  16. I have built an overhead panel for my sim that has some switches for example Taxi Lights and Landing Lights. Although I have used Lua before I have spent hours on trying to get these switches to work. I know that the light switch data is held in 0x0D0C offset but I can not figure out how to extract the individual bits to allow me to modify them and then write them back to the offset. I think it involves some logic.and command but its all beyond me unfortunately. Or am I on the wrong track altogether and is there an easier way. Could anyone please help with a little sample code that reads offset extracts bit 3 , if its off turn it on and vice versa a…

This company from Poland is offering via Simmarket cockpit hardware for 737 NGX and A320. Is there anybody who has ordered from this company already? If yes, I would be interested in any feedback. I am interested to buy some of their stuff, but I want to be sure ... Regards Arndt

The unique design of the throttle control in this amazing plane will make the chances one being commercially designed for flight simmers unlikely. I suspect that it is a patented design in the real aircraft, so whether other plane manufactures go down this road remains to be seen. Therefore for flight simmers, a controller like this will have limited sales potential and make it an expensive niche market. However, an actual controller would immensely increase the immersive nature of flying this plane. Mechanically, one would be relatively easy to make, however, the USB connection would defeat me and maybe a second proportional control needed would not be available from the…

I am looking everywhere for the old SAITEK driver for the Saitek panels (not the FIP, already have SAIFLIGHTSIMX). I am not a fan of the Logitech drivers or SPAD. In particular, looking for the SAIPANELS.exe. Would anybody know where to get or maybe have the “old driver” laying around somewhere? Any help or assistance would be greatly appreciated! I am running FSX with WIN7 64bit. Thanks

Hello, I am not sure if this is where I should be posting but here goes. I have a home build flight simulator with motion. My flight sim has a TH2go for forward view and two other monitors for gauges or what ever. I am running a home built auto pilot, dual throttle control, radio, Rudders,Yoke, keyboard and mouse on all my 2.0 usb connectors through my main computer (see attachment). this all works however I recently connected a 10 in touch screen monitor, usb powered, for ATC, it worked but I could not move gauges from main screen to another and have them working. So my question is, if I were to purchase a 12 port Multi TT USB Hub, would that improve my port problems?…

I have found a similar topic over the Internet, but it is old and the products suggested that are on sale (used) ship only from the US (making the Honeycomb yoke more affordable 😂 - more or less): is there any small/compact joystick that can be easily transported in a backpack / luggage and used while abroad for work? I have the gamepads from my Xbox, but I feel very uncomfortable with them (all of them, including those for PS4).

My saitek yoke has become a bit stiff and juddery in the pitch movement and I was considering taking the case off and lubricating the shaft. I think the grease that is exposed has also collected some fine dust debris and this is not helping the movement. Any suggestions about what I could use to lubricate with? I was thinking WD40 lithium grease or similar. I've heard vaseline but I'm not so keen.

  24. How realistic is a flight sim joystick, do real aircraft self center? I have the Hotas Wartog, a quality piece of kit for sure however, it is sprung and always brings itself back to the central centered position, there's even a little pause if it pushed over that position, do real aircraft do this? I have thought about removing the spring altogether as per several videos on YouTube, any comments for and against this approach please? Thanks Phil

I've been using my ever-faithful MS Sidewinder since, I believe, FS2002. Needless to say, it's been a minute. After nearly 20 years of faithful service, the old girl has earned her retirement. I'm looking for recommendations for replacing the Sidewinder. I fly P3Dv4.x using Windows 10. Not needing anything more complex than the Sidewinder in terms of gadgets; just a good basic stick with similar features. Any suggestions? Thanks! Brian
