Hardware Controllers: Joysticks/Yokes | Throttle Quads | Rudder Pedals | Drivers etc

This is a forum to discuss issues with Joysticks, pedals, yokes, other interface hardware like panels, etc.

So I am putting together a parts list to make an AP box and a Radio box. Im not sure whether it is better to go with an arduino route, or the bodnar route for the inputs. I do know I will need some sort of output board to send the radio frequencies, crs/hdg etc back out to the box, of which I am also unsure of what is the best board for this type of setup. The more specific question is what are the real differences between the bodnar 836 and the bbi32? From what I have read on his website, they both do encoders and buttons? This will be a strictly p3dv5 build with possibly also using in DCS. Any input or suggestions would be welcome.

  2. Hi Everyone, I am really considering switching over to the Airbus platform for FS2020, at least in the beginning. I am wondering if there might be a way to attach a flight stick to a chair armrest for comfort and realism. Having it attached to the desk just seems uncomfortable and awkward. I have looked at the nice Omega chairs with the adjustable armrest. Has anyone tried mounting a flight stick to one? Thanks for any advice/ideas you can give.

I saw the dimensions for the Yoko Plus Yoke on The Virtual Fly Website, but I assume they are overall dimensions. Would somebody please provide me with the dimensions of just the box (not including the actual yoke “handle”)? Not the box the unit ships in, but the metal box containing the mechanicals and electronics. Thanks much. Scott

  4. Hi I fly nothing but A2A (Cub through Constellation) in P3dv4.4 with a bunch of Goflight modules. For A2A aircraft I've found that GoFlight's own software appears to be adequate. I do have one toggle switch panel unused, though. Does anyone see any particular advantages over GF software by using PollyPot or FSUIPC for GF in my case? If so, what could they be? Thanks much. PS-there's so much rain here in South Florida that I can only fly the floats Cub. :}

Looking into getting a Brunner CLS-E Yoke. Currently I am leaning toward the Mark II. I would love to hear feedback from Owners of the Mark II or the NG. Thanks in advance. Paul

  6. Hello All, I'm in sort of a quandary here and hoped that some of you can shed some light on my question from your experiences to help in my decision to purchase the Honeycomb flight Yoke right now. I have been using the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro joystick for X-plane for the past couple of years, and it has been great, and perfectly acceptable for a get started into the flight sim experience, but have decided to now upgrade my flight controls to a more realistic setup here in the office. I will still use the Logitech for travel in our motorhome with a gaming laptop and external display whenever we do hit the road again sometime later this year we hope 😟. After all the…

  7. Hello everyone, I ordered a pair of CH pedals a week ago, and used them for a couple of days. In short, they were massively disappointing - the rudder travel has a huge deadzone in the left extreme of its range but not the right, and an inexplicable bump in the sliding action going to the right but not the left. I decided to RMA the unit and come here for an opinion. After that experience, the next logical go-to is the Logitech/Saitek pedals. The reason I did not go for that at first is because of the negative reviews regarding quality control and longevity. The problem is: those posts were made years ago before Logitech's acquisition of Saitek. Now that Logi…

  8. For those of you trying to figure out how to assign functions to the Alpha Yoke buttons (for example for using the light flip switches to turn on and off the lights on the PMDG NGX). After a lot of digging into a lot of stuff I didn't fully understand I finally figured out a work around until Honeycomb gets us all of the these templates they promise. First I do NOT guarantee this will work or that my instructions are clear and accurate. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK. All I know is that when I followed these instructions as best as I have been able to document them here, it worked MOST of the time. I am not an expert. I'm sure there are experts out there who know a…

  9. Hi, so I've just received my Honeycomb Alpha Yoke and I'm looking at what is the best way to configure it in P3D v4. I have the paid FSUIPC version. Is it better to configure via FSUIPC or via the Yoke Input application? Thanks 🙂

So initially I purchsed a Honeycomb yoke. Went through 3 before settling on the 4th due to serious QC issues. Each of the defective yokes DID have very smooth inputs though and no jitter on any axis. Purchased the Thrustmaster Rudder pedals to hold me over till Honeycomb releases theirs. After the first couple uses, the rudder pedals all of a sudden had ridiculously jittery inputs. Went through all the troubleshooting everyone recommended. Drivers installation, plugging in the pedals in a certain order. No luck. Then this morning, I plugged them in one more time before I was to put them in the box and return them, I went into the device manager and clicked con…

Hello folks, I am not terribly computer savvy, so have a question about whether Pollypot or FSUIC is a better choice for me to use in setting up a set (11 of) Goflight modules (no MCP) for use with fresh installs of both Prepar3d (v4,5) and Win 10? I am likely to use mostly GA aircraft along with a business jet or two -- no heavy metal. Thank you, Brian

  12. I had made the step into Prepar3d V4.5 last year and thought it would be handy to fly a bit first and then use my Goflight stuff. Yet now that I try to use the GF-TQ6 throttle quadrant, I notice that it is having multiple functions per Lever. For instance I did choose Throttle Eng 1 on the first lever. Throttle engine 2 on lever 2 etc. Flaps and Airbrake included. Prepared takes those functions, but also adds its own. Like Lever 1 is Throttle for engine 1 and Ailerone. Lever 2 is Throttle engine 2 and Elevator function, going down. Lever 3 is Throttle Engine 3 and View. Lever 4 is Throttle Engine 4 and Reversed view. Well these extra views are nice, bu…

  13. My win7 became unstable and I recently upgraded to win10. FSX SE not recognizing the Yoke and Pedals in the calibration settings. Controllers worked fin in win7. I did a complete reinstall of FSX and used the controller manager for the yoke and pedals. win10 does recognize the hardware and states they are working properly. Is there a solution to this?

  14. These past few days I am working and evaluating on the Saitek TQ installation process for better cost and benefit improvement. In my opinion it seems like the DIY soldering is the top choice for DIYers. The one with HE connectors is tedious and time consuming. If one can take apart the TQ easily, then he or she will have no problem in soldering the wires I assumed. So I will give up the connector version. Go simple....:). If one does not have the skill in soldering, please find your friend to help. OR if you can twist the wires one by one together and use tape to secure and insulate the wires might work too, then no soldering is needed. Thanks for wa…

  15. Hi, I've just snapped one of the levers clean off on my Logitech Quadrant. Does anyone know if I can buy spare parts for it? Or would anyone be able to help out with a spare lever. Would appreciate any help, I don't want to have to purchase a whole new one as they are hard to find now. Cheers

I know this has been hashed over before, but I wanted to add one more data point. Following a summer layoff from simming, my Saitek quadrants had gone from terribly glitchy to downright unusable. As I had nothing left to lose, before replacing I wanted to take a stab at a simple cleaning solution. I know that others have offered some (often strong) opinions that they can't be cleaned in a simple process because they're sealed. Well... no. My guess is that while the intent to seal may be there, the seal is less than perfect (which may be partly why mine have always gotten noticeably worse after a layoff due to some dust getting in). I started by blowing some cann…

Hello everyone I have just upgraded my flight yoke from the Saitek to the honeycomb. I a man very impressed with the quality and lack of any dead zones. Herein lies my problem I've managed to programme a few buttons but I can't programme the multidirectional pad,on the left side to enable me to look around the cockpit like I could do on my saitek. I'm also struggling to figure out what the command is to switch through the views I used to have a button programmed to switch views from internal wing view etc. I've had a look at fsuipc but I'm struggling to make any sense of it. Please help.

  19. Hello, (disclaimer : I'm french sorry if my english isn't the best) I'm stuck for several months with a problem, i tried and searched a lot on the internet but nothing worked. (i'm desperate...) So i just created an account on this forum to have help from the community. I always used Prepar3D v4.5, I bought the saitek multi panel and switch panel a year ago, everything worked fine, i installed nothing, just plugged both USB sockets in my computer and I enjoyed those panels a lot. BUT, one day i launched the "delete generated file" shortcut in the P3D folder in order to "clean a little bit" my simulator. After that, both switch and multi pan…

Does anyone here that owns the Logitech throttle quadrant have a problem with control spikes? I tried turning up the null zone in p3d, but the throttles keep moving regardless of power setting.

Hi everybody, Just a quick heads-up, I'm new to forums so I'm not very good at this yet. Anyway, I found a Quickshot Aviator 3 joystick for the SEGA Mega Drive in my garage a while ago and was wondering if it was worth anything. I looked it up and it doesn't come up with many results - only a few actually related to the controller itself. I also looked it up on Twitter and there were only three results. I just need to know what to do - I can't find a valuation anywhere and it seems to be very rare! I'd appreciate advice and may post this to a retro console/SEGA forum too. Thanks!

  22. So I just purchased the Honeycomb yoke and set everything up with the driver and config tool, but now the only button switches that work are the landing lights. No Battery, taxi lights, bcn, etc. Is there something else I am supposed to do to get this working with p3dv4? When I enable the bindings in the sim, I just see a green bar with x_x when I click on certain switches.

  23. So I have the Thrustmaster Flight stick x and for some reason it seems to detect movement of the twist axis even when I am not touching the joystick. In P3D I have the rudder mapped to this control which causes it to constantly move in the sim and makes it so that I have to constantly adjust the rudder to keep the plane straight especially while taxing. In the air the problem isn't as noticeable and can make most flight's just fine. I plan to get a a new joystick but wanted to check here first and see if you had any ideas on a possible fix to this problem. I know it's not just a problem in the sim as it detects the movement in the calibration program that comes with the s…

I'm not sure if this is the right forum to post this. I am having issues with my Saitek flight rudder pedals. I am using a Windows 10 OS and P3D v4.5 with Hotfix3. Before having the issue I was trying to assign a different axis (the joystick rotatory axis) to use with the tiller and then leave the rudder pedals only for rudder. I used fsuipc for this and watching youtube tutorials, however after doing that, the rudder pedals got stuck to the right side and will hardly move. There is a certain position on the rudders to the left where if don't move them, the rudder in the sim will stay centered, but after trying to go left of right, it will lock again fully to the right. …

  25. HI, new to the forums, I tried searching and couldn't find any other topics with this specific issue, if I missed something please feel free to link me to whatever you find. I just got my second throttle quadrant to go with my yoke as well as a few of the panels and am having some issues getting it set up for multi-engine flying. I'm using FSX-SE with the Logitech yoke, pedals, multi/switch/radio panels and the additional yoke. My main issue is that the various levers are not anywhere near synced up so it is very hard to work two engines at the same time. The throttles are generally even but on the mixture, they are both even at full rich and cutoff, but anywhere in be…
