Hardware Controllers: Joysticks/Yokes | Throttle Quads | Rudder Pedals | Drivers etc

This is a forum to discuss issues with Joysticks, pedals, yokes, other interface hardware like panels, etc.

  1. I happened to be going thru updates available from Windows updates custom hardware and there was an update for my Saitek throttle quadrants,so I ran it.Now all my button assignments are messed up and some are doing several things.IE one button is set to turn nav radio on and now it does that but also makes flaps go down. When I click on FS drop down menu I get a gonging sound.Lever assignments seem OK.I saved my FSUIPC.ini and copied a backup but that did not help. This is driving me crazy. Can anyone help? Thanks,Ron

Hi, this is the first time I am looking at an MCP console for FSX, in particular I like the Opencockpit one, as it seems compatible pretty much with every major liner. I looked at the Goflight MCP as well, but it seems it is only compatible with a few liners, like Level D and PMDG 737. As I am not an avid enthusiast of a particular airplane, as I like the MD-80, the MD-11, 747, 737. So I would like to know whether the Opencockpit Module is compatible with more than one specific aircraft. Please, let me know, Enrico

Bought the trim wheel last week and it has made flying 100% more enjoyable and easier. I mainly fly the turbo props which were difficult to trim (for me) because of their speed. Now it is a snack and I am really loving it. For Aussie simmers, i bought it from The Gamesman (free plug) for about $69 with free delivery. Worth every penny. No, I don't work for Saitek or The Gamesman. Just thought I would share my experience.

Hi guys, Because I'm currently using two setups on a 2 meter long desk connected to one computer, it's really a pain to drag your wired mouse over from your sim racing setup to your flight sim setup when you're in the mood to do something else and have the wires of the screens, keyboard, lamp, headset and speakers all tangled up with eachother. Therefore, I guess a wireless mouse would some in handy! I decided to buy two of the same mousepads, and with a wireless mouse it's just a matter of putting it over to the other side of the desk and done! I was looking at the Logitech gaming mice, looks like a good piece of hardware. But I'm looking for a mouse with a speci…

I cant decide on my next upgrade. A 2nd monitor for gauges, maps, radio etc or Saitek Combat Pedals. Opinions?

  7. Hello everyone. Thanks in advance for any help you can give. I have a little problem with the simulator at the flight school I teach with. Here's the situation: We have a PFC Modular Flight Deck system that we were using a few years ago. It's the serial controller setup with X-Plane 8.4. I know it's an older sim, but we just got it back out of storage and I'm trying to get it up and running again. It worked when it was put into storage. The thing worked for a little while after we set it back up, although we noticed that the cable running from the console to the computers was prone to interferance. If you had it too close to a power cord, it would glitch badly. Af…

I'm going to be upgrading my FSX hard drive in a few days. I intend for it to replace a drive that was exclusively for the FSX installation (i.e. no other programs are running on this drive). In fact, I'm planning on having the new drive keep the same drive letter and name- to hopefully keep network-mapped drives attached. Can I simply drag the FSX folder to the new drive,or will this prove problematic?

Throttle wich one. I am sad as I am really lost on the decision of buying a throttle that will work well and for a investiment. After several year with Saitek I am really bored, looking around there is Goflight withTQ the simple one not the NGX but it's like 400€ which is not worth the price. Then there is PFC console at 475€ and after reading Word Not Allowed guide is the best money wise, but then you need to add another 335€ for costum THR wich IHMO is very expensive and if you want the candy NGX it's 625€. So you pay for a throttle (sorry I repeat only a Throttle) 810€ and the NGX version 1100€ that is crazy, really crazy. I think for 1200€ is better to buy an FSC…

  10. Dear All, I am trying to map the FOV to trim my plane in FSX using a paid FSUIPC 4. I tried to map the different trims (elev and rudd , up and down) to my FOV 4 directions (click the repeat while pressed and played with different parameters value) but can't get it to work. Any ideas what I am doing wrong ? Kind Regards

After booting up FSX and running for about 5 minutes, my Cyborg X joystick is disconnected - and the only controls option left is the Mouse! This was not a problem when running FSX under Windows-7 Home Premium. Only became a problem after upgrading to Windows-8. (i have try to install the windows 8 drivers, but that is not working for now.)\ Greets Michael

I have run into an operational question which maybe somebody can answer. In assigning Axis on the throttle quadrant to get the blue handled lever to operate Prop RPM, I assigned the lever "X rotational" in the Control Axis tab. That worked. However, assigning the red lever to "Mixture Axis" using "Y rotational ", did not get any response from that lever in my Carenado V35 Bonanza. I had to use "Mixture Axis Engine 1" to get the lever to actuate the control on the panel. Of course, this is OK on a single engine aircraft, but on a twin, it is useless as it only activates one engine, unlike the Prop control lever which does control both props on the DC-3. Would like to know…

  13. I am sure there is a really easy answer to this and I am just being a bit of a newbie, so please be gentle with me. A few weeks ago I purchased the Saitek Pro flight stick and pedals. Until now I have been using a Saitek X52 joystick but wanted to get a more realistic feel so too the plunge and bought the Pro Flight stick Yoke system. In the past with my X52 I used the Saitek profiler software to switch between different configurations (prop and Jet). However with the new Flight yoke I have been forced to set up the configuration in FSK ( I could not get it to pick up the Saitek profile correctly). Currently I have the following set up in FSX Throttles Left han…

  14. Is there a site anyone knows of that gives specific instructions on how to convert a real 737 TQ for use in the sim and motorize it? Thanks. Kevin

  15. I just bought the Profight yoke system. I am running Win7 x64, I72700k, computer. Everything works great, assigned axis, buttons, etc with FSUIPC.. I push function on the yoke and it changes from the clock to the stop watch. I hit start, stop, reset, all works. It just will not display anything but zero's for the clock. How do I get the clock to work? I did not load Saitek drivers, I plugged in the yoke to my computer, the quadrant, and combat rudders to the yoke and Win 7 installed the drivers. Thank you. Lynn

Just tracked my new PFC yoke it and it's on schedule to be delivered tomorrow. As a real world pilot having flown both the King Air 90 and Pilatus PC-12, I'm anxious to find out how it compares. I had a terrible time finding reviews for the PFC yokes, and I'm thinking of submitting a user review if it would be helpful to anyone.

Hi, I'm going to order an extra Saitek throttle quadrant to add to my current throttle set. I'm going to configure it for four engined aircraft by arranging the black knobs. Before I buy it, though, I wanted to know, is there a way within FSX to configure the four reverse thrust detents to engage reverse thrust at the same time on all four levers? I'm also willing to do this if it's possible in the registered version of FSUIPC. Is there also a way within FSUIPC to assign two engines to one lever? (For when I fly a 4-engined prop) Thank you in advance.

Hi all, I've been recently thinking of taking the plunge and getting the Saitek Yoke and Rudder pedals, instead of just using a Thrustmaster HotasX Joystick which I have used quite successfully for the last few years. I would be looking at the Saitek Cessna range as I would like something realistic. I understand from reading the threads here that the Cessna range are made slightly better than the Pro-Flight range from Saitek and are better than the CH products. What do the rest of you think about these? My other query is regarding the use of the Throttle quadrants, I understand that by having 2 throttle quadrants I can set up two engine props with throttle, prop p…

  21. Thanks to Howard, et al., in another thread for all the information/explanation/advice concerning the Thrustmaster Warthog. I'd love to see one and try it out before I buy it, but based on my searches, it appears as if it isn't stocked anywhere in Western Canada. It also appears that the only way to buy one is online--and pay an exorbitant amount in shipping. Does anyone know where one of these can be bought in Vancouver, Canada, or perhaps in Seattle?

  22. Hi all, Here is my config under fs2004. I mainly fly with the Carenado Mooney M20J. I have also the amazing instruments Flight Line T and N from Reality XP: Do anyone of you use the propit panel from VR Insight because I'd like to purchase the GNS530 GPS from Reality XP? There is no key mapper for the propit so I'm afraid that the GPS of the propit will not work with the GPS from Reality XP. If you have any experience, It would be nice to share it with me! Regarding my setup, I need to paint my cockpit, add a glareshield, put some goodies such as light, vent and I'd like to close it and add a video projector for more sensation. Thanks in advance, …

Hi, I've been having some troubles with my TrackIR5 device lately. It seems that it only happens when I'm simming when it's daytime outside and I turn my Saitek yoke to the left. What happens is that the view sort of "buzzes" and stops responding to my head movements for about 10-20 seconds (I'm using the regular TrackClip on a baseball cap by the way.) Interestingly, this also only happens when I'm on short final, which is very annoying. I've never had this issue during the other parts of the flight. If this helps, I'm seated about two metres (6 feet approx.) from a large window, and I'm in Australia, so it's a pretty bright summer's day. Thanks in advance.

  24. I have the Trackir Pro ser #XXXXX. Win 7x64 OS. I use FSX exclusively. I have Ver 4.1 build 28 installed. It worked great, but now I need to uncheck the true view box and I cannot get to the setup screen. I am happy with my profile, but to use with EZdok I have to make some changes. I am afraid of screwing something up by going to the updated version. How do I install the newest version TrackIR_4.2.0.39? Will I have to redo my profile? Do I have to uninstall it from the control panel uninstall/change page before I install the new version? I have searched the forum but was not able to find the answer to my question. Got a question regarding cooling my i7 2700k At the moment it is OC to 4700 and it does run stable but the heat goes up significantly when I run fsx The machine came with a corsair liquid cooler but according to the ai suite ii with the fans set to 100% my cpu hits 72-75 deg c at normal speed and if I increase the sim speed to 4 the temp goes up to about 85c I currently have 8fb ram and a gtx580 the gpu of which, gets no where near as hot. What would be the best options be to get my cpu running a bit cooler. would extra ram help ? I should also say I run alacrity before I start fsx
