Hardware Controllers: Joysticks/Yokes | Throttle Quads | Rudder Pedals | Drivers etc

This is a forum to discuss issues with Joysticks, pedals, yokes, other interface hardware like panels, etc.

  1. Started by shamrockflyer,

I bought the Saitek Pro Flight Yoke with the throttle quadrant not too long ago. The first thing I noticed when I first set it up was how incredibly loose everything seemed to be - for example; I can move the yoke ever so slightly from left to right as if the screws aren't tight enough. It has nothing to do with the calibration of the yoke, its just how the yoke is built on the inside. The mechanical design of the yoke is fairly bad in my opinion. Is there any household tweaks I can do to make it feel more realistic, and less like a loose mechanical connection?

It is long over due for my latest IB April build. Brought the machine out of its hole and discovered that a major cleaning of over 120 fan blades was in order. Holy man it took a 1inch paint brush, some Amour All (I like my blades slick) and a discarded toothbrush and a good vacuum but I got all of the fan blades (and 2 case filters) clean. It took about an hour but the result was about 5-10c better cooling. A project to be sure but well worth it. Get on it . Regards jja

Hello everyone, I would like to purchase rudder pedals for my FSX platform, as trying to make a coordinated turn with joysticks has proven to be difficult. I just wanted to ask for people's recommendations about which rudder pedals they like. I am currently looking at the Saitek Pro Flight Rudder Pedals or the Saitek Pro Flight Cessna Rudder Pedals. Any thoughts or recommendations would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!!

HI all I am looking to get a new joystick and am wondering what to get? I noticed the force feedback sticks seem to be in short supply from the major companies and was wondering why I use WIndows 7 on my computer and the new computer I plan on getting. any ideas or thoughts would be great thanks Ian Snow

  5. With the immanent release of the 777, I was wondering if the developers will be updating the fantastic freeware software to run with the 777. One of the huge reasons I fly with PMDG aircraft is the ability to interface with the GoFlight MCP this would be a great. Thanks for your response in advance.

Hey, I remember when first flying fsx the left lever, the default one controlled all of the engines, but after configuring different stuff it changed, no when i am trying to fly 4 engine aircraft with my saitek (two levers) it won't work, any thoughts?

Greetings I am in the process of upgrading my flight simulator experience. I received some excellent advice from the software forum. Now I would very much appreciate your expertise. My question is in regards to the efis, mcp and radios. I am close to purchasing the VRInsight MCP Combo II Boeing Style. It combines all three previously mentioned items at a reasonable price. Furthermore, given that it has LINDA support, I would be able to use the module with all default; and a number of addon aircraft (including Airbus X). I cannot afford to purchase modules for each type of aircraft and thought this would be the best general solution. However, I am wondering whe…

  9. Hi Everyone, This is driving me nuts. I have a Saiket Pro Flight Yoke running FSX Accel. (fully updated) plus FSUIPC. When I'm in the PMDG NGX 737 doing a flight if I minimise FSX or switch to another screen to get information (such as fuel or to check maps) when I return to FSX my Saitek Yoke stops responding. FSX stops seeing it even though it still works and registers in the Saitek Test app running in the background. This is really annoying as obviously I can't ever minimise FSX which makes flying for a virtual airline impossible because I need information to programme the FMC and to run the ACARS software. I'm running windows 8 which may well be the issue?…

How many DYI-ers out there have finished a project and thought, "Gee, if I knew it was going to turn out so well, I would have done a better job?" That's what I said to myself after I built a three-point cap clip model for the head-tracking freeware Free Track V2.2. I had tried a second monitor with a left-hand view (monitor colors didn't match) and then FaceTrackNOIR (just couldn't get tracking to work without jitters and flipping) and gave them up. They did, however, spoil me for something other than the plain old "scroll left, scroll right" views out the front. (That other facetracking setup, uh something..something..IR, is just too expensive, although a great out-of-…

  11. Hello All: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Longtime lurker, former student pilot and part time simmer here: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I have been away from my FSX setup for a while and I am revisting my setup. I recently re-aquired an PC that I built for a family member and want to integrate it into my new FSX setup (via FSUIP/WideFS) * Currently have FSX on a I7-930 system ( on separate HD, ATI 6890 Eyefinity and (3) 24" IPS monitors). This PC servers as a dual purpose unit that also does music production. This is on Win7, 64 Pro. The r…

  12. Hey, I am about to buy TrackIR 5 since i am tired of sing the hat switch on my yoke or the mouse+bar while on approach, so a couple of questions about it's usage: 1. before every flight session, should i do something? or is there any key that i can press which will turn it on automatically? since i am using ENB series i can not exit the game after it has started. 2. would you really recommend it with the NGX? is that a game changer? i am really looking forward to hear some good advice's, comments about it. cheers.

I use today saitek pro yoke and saitek pro rudders and Im waiting for my warthog throttles. I would like to know if I can use them as is and just set them up in fsx or is there anything else that needs to be done for flying 737ngx.. I was thinking like if, afterburner detent and other functions for the fighter plane are not "realistic" for a 737. Thanks

  14. Hello all, I currently use the Saitek Cyborg X joystick for flying in FSX. I've had the controller for several years now without much incident, but over the past several weeks I've noticed my aircraft making sharp pulls to the right. I started to look at the joystick calibration settings and noticed that the Z axis was going full on if I made even the slightest right turn. I've tried playing with the settings a bit, but to no avail so far. Has anyone else run into this issue? Were you able to find a solution? Worst case scenario - would anyone recommend an inexpensive replacement? (I'm hoping to get a yoke and rudders pedals soon when I move and have more spac…

I was looking for any input if any of you have done maintenance on your X52 (Non Pro) to fix stickiness and jumpness. Its just not very smooth. Most likely dirt and what not. Any particular lubrication/cleaner you using? I read the Pot can stick some. And the wrong kind of lubrication can eat away at the plastic., Thanks

  16. There haven't been any updates for the Saitek X-65F (either the SST Profile editing software or the drivers) since the beta release of both components in May, 2011. They can be found here: ftp://ftp.saitek.com/pub/software/beta/ The beta releases are versions 7.0.10.6 (dated 5/18/2011), which you can check using the Saitek Control Panel app. However, Mad Catz bought out Saitek's hardware lines (I think sometime during 2008) and there is a new version of the SST Profile editing software available at: http://www.saitek.com/uk/down/drivers.php The SST version is 7.0.27.13 and is dated 4/30/2013. There are 7.0.27.13 driver files in the SST install package, but…

I've had my Thrustmaster T.Flight Stick X for a while but i started FSX I moved the throttle a little and it went to about 75% and wont go back to idle. It has been a few days and it still wont work. I also just installed QW 757 if that makes a difference.

I've posted this over at the PMDG section but this is probably a more relevant forum. Been away from flight swimming for a while and I've just re-installed FSX and the 737. I use a thrustmaster warthog for flight controls and I have the thrustmaster T500 wheel and pedals for racing, the pedals are configured in simple mode for rudder control. My issue is that whenever I move the aircraft on the ground then my wheel will start slowly turning about 90 degrees left to right, slowly increasing in speed so that by V1 it's going hell for leather! I've checked through the control options and I can't seem to find this control? Anyone else have similar hardw…

  19. I have a set of Saitek Pro Flight rudder pedals. I'm having a problem with the axis sometimes slowly creeping to the left. This is very annoying as I can't taxi straight for long distances without touching the pedals - the aircraft will make quite a sudden turn to the left and veer off the taxiway if left on its own. A little bit of left or right pressure centers the axis again, however, I have to keep moving the pedals back and forth a bit to avoid the creeping. This does not happen only in FSX, it looks like it's a hardware problem because it shows up in the calibration settings of the pedals and in Saitek's software as well. What's wrong? That's that. Then, another…

Greetings! I inherited my good looks and intelligence from my Dad. Unfortunately, I also inherited a genetic condition called "essential tremor". It is a "twitch switch" that acts up at the worst times, i.e., when trying to balance a full coffee cup on a dish when walking halfway across the restaurant, or more colloquially, when operating a top hat switch on a Logitech controller. I can "scan" easily enough into a turn, but have a devil of a time getting back to the rest position! Twitch, twitch, twitch!!! I find myself reaching up and around the stick to use the numeric keypad. Finite, defined movements, and pressing "5" returns you to your seat. I have been…

Good afternoon With the release of the 777 on the horizon I was wondering if the people of the boards could recommend a good game controller or joystick. I use to have the Saitek Evo pro with force feed back and I loved it but after doing a search on the net it seems that the force feed back sticks don't really exist. So the question for the masses is what should I get? and what do you use and why I got the cash so that is not a problem thanks all 13ifs40

  22. I use the Saitek Pro yoke and and pedals with my FSX install. When I am taxi and use the left and right toe brakes, they function properly. However, when I release them, the "Brakes" message appears in the lower left corner of my display and eventually my aircraft stops. The only way it seems I can release the brakes and resume forward movement again, is to set and release the parking brake. But as soon as I use the toe brakes again, the plane stops. Do I have a bad setting somewhere?

  23. Hi all, so there's probably a much more eloquent way of putting this question but I'm not really genned up on the terminology, so excuse my potentially awkward phrasing. So I've got my hands on an X-52 Pro, and generally speaking its all well and good, but I've got an issue with the stick - there seems to be a 'mechanical deadzone' in the center. The software deadzone is set as small as it'll go, but there is an uncomfortably large area of movement that gets no response from the PC. I'll state that "Uncomfortably large" for me is probably much smaller than most - I'm the type of guy who will notice a speck of dust under a mouse (and proceed to get disproportionately …

Hello Guys! This is my first post here so I hope I'm posting in the right thread, if don't please remove or place it in the right thread!I've been searching of the whole internet but I can't get a real answer to my question.I've been wondering if the Saitek Multi-Panel is nowadays compatible with the add-on aircrafts like the iFly 737 / Captain Sim 757 / Level D 767.Actually I did found a lot of posts about the not-compatibility of saitek but all these posts where placed in 2009 when the multi-panel hit the stores and I was wondering if it is plausible to get the multi-panel working with those add-on aircrafts nowadays. And with working I mean a WORKING LED display, else I …

Hi all, I've been considering getting a HOTAS Warthog control for quite some time now. However, this is not a cheap piece of kit, and it's not someone that's readily available in stores to try it out. Therefore I have doubts and uncertainties that I hope to ask here. For the HOTAS users here who are more civilian flight sim focused, how do you find the piece suit your needs as a commercial simmer? Some may ask why I don't use other stuff or aim to get other stuff? I currently have the Cyborg F.L.Y. 5 which I'm not very happy with. Mainly because the stick centering (caused by the centering spring) is too obvious, and the axes movement is not very smooth. …
