Hello all. Am curious as to whether my new build I am in the middle of will support FSX. I am building my "own" system so I do not have to share, can be set up with yoke and pedals at all times, and I have 2 monitors for now.Anyway, I am using the following: Intel Core 2 Q6600 CPU, 4 MB of DDR2 RAM, MSI P7N SLI Platinum mobo, a 200 GB HD and a 80 GB HD, both of which are WD 7200RPM type; and a GeForce 8800 GT video card ( 512MB). I fly some of the smaller airplanes, and will have one commercial, either a B737 or B757. Right now I am using FS9 and enjoying stellar performance for the most part....hate losing my addons..Anyway, fire away. I read the posts here daily and a…

Dumb Q. of the week:Do the contents of the Desktop have any neg effect on FS Frame Rate?I have 60+ icons on my Desktop- all of which, of course, underlay Flight Sim all the time. So the CPU must be continually working to produce these- as well as FS!Alex Reid

Hi all, I have just discovered my laptop computer needs a new battery and memory chips. I have put a lot of work into my fs2004 with add on sceneries and stuff like that. The question I have is will putting in a new battery and memory cause any problems with the game. I know nothing about computers and although this seems like any easy thing to do, I am still worried about screwing something up. There is no going back if I mess stuff up. Any advice is appreciated. Thank you.

What, in your opinion, fellow simmers, is the very best Video Card out there for FSX? I am an NVidia fan, and I currently have the 8800GT. However, I'm in the mood to upgrade. Is the 9800 the best there is right now?

HiI had a LG 19" Flatron CRT monitor on which I ran FS at 1600x1200x32 with a refresh rate of 100. It has now finally given up the ghost!!!I'm looking at buying a 19" LCD monitor. However, I need some advice. Most of the specs for a 19" give a max res of 1280 x 1024. Can one still run FS at 1600x1200 on these monitors or are the graphics at 1280 x 1024 on LCDs just as good as a CRT at 1600x1200 ?trevor

Hence why I would like to get your advice on my proposed system build upThis is my proposed system: * Coolermaster Cosmos 1000 Case * Thermaltake Toughpower 700W PSU * ASUS P5N-D * Intel

  14. The statement, concerning the solution to blurries, was made on another thread: "Try flying at 300knots at tree top level on your dual, then toss in a quad and do the same test. You will see the quad loads textures much better, perhaps twice as fast. For a guy flying at 30k a dual is probably fine, but for a guy like me who flies low and fast, a quad is the only way to go."I responded "Can you please show us the CPU utilization per processor and per FSX thread while "flying at 300knots at tree top level " on a quad core machine. A copy of the output from something like ProcessExplorer or xperf would certainly settle the question about the ability of FSX to schedule four t…

Just got my first yoke; really enjoying it.I have a question about the two levers beside the throttle; The middle I use on the ground as a steering wheel when flying heavies. I dont know what it does in the air.The third one I have not discovered a use for. I assume it is programmed for something; I think I would like to use it for "reverse thrust" after landing. I can find and change assignments for all the buttons, but am not sure how to do that for the levers. Any help would be appreciated.Marty in Brantford

Just wondering if anyone has installed the SP3 for XP? I did and found that when I put my machine on standby and went to run anything using my video card, I could not go to full screen. Checked it out with the MS update site and I guess it's been a problem. Bob G.

I just purchased the pro pedals, I've had the yoke for a while. The pedals are extremely sensative and the brakes go on if i touch the pedals at all wihout moving them forward. I tried adjusting sensitivity and all that, calibrating too, but nothing seems to work very well. I installed the ch control manager, which helped calibrate both a little better but now certain axes won't work, like the propr control on the yoke doesn't move the prop control in the sim, i've checked to make sure it was assigned. Does anyone have a good list of settings for each to use or have any ideas of why this is happening? Thanks.

I right now have an 8800 Ultra and was considering upgrading to the upcoming 4870 x2 when I can afford it. I was considering the GTX 280 but I changed my mind because of the upcoming 4870 x2 and I think that a single GTX 280 is just not enough of an upgrade for me based on the benchmarks I seen online. I use my PC for other games besides FSX. Will Crossfire be useful in FSX? The main problems I'm having in FSX is that some add on aircraft slow down the performance too much for example with the gyro plane I get 21 fps and then with the CLS 747-200 it drops to 11 fps in VC view while sitting on the runway.

Here's one for the experts.Just been experimenting with the new rig (see below) and discovered that, when overclocking (3.4ghz) and setting the BIOS to manual control voltage, my core temps go to around 65-67C when using FSX. CPU-Z reports the CPU running full tilt at 3.4.However, when I set BIOS voltage control to Auto the temps skyrocket to 75C with CPU-Z still showing the 3.4GHZ max.Surely 3.4ghz is 3.4ghz? Why is it throwing more at the CPU when on auto voltage control?Needless to say, I've gone back to default BIOS settings until my new cooler arrives. ;)
