Can somebody please tell me where I can find it.I am trying to install my yoke and pedals on my Vista system. Vista does not recognize these. On the CH Products web site they announce that Control Manager 4.30 is available to allow installation of the hardware in Vista. They then say to click the link below. There is no link, and searching the site doesn't turn up 4.30. I tried to ask them, but they required registration which I tried to do. Instead I got a message saying I would get an email telling me how to activate my registration. I've waited and waited ...

My system is a Q6600 in a GA-38XT-DQ6 board, running WinXP (SP3), with 2* 1GB of RAM. My current video card is a NV 7950GT.I build my own stuff, and usually update motherboard/CPU every other year, then a video card the intervening years. My choice to upgrade has been the 8800 GTS or GTX, and I've been looking at posts here at AVSIM for information. However, I'm seeing many more recent card appearing on peoples' sigs here, and am wondering what might be best. The only app that will push the card is FSX.Although I have WinXP now, I may later, when I upgrade the mobo/CPU next, look at a motherboard that can run Vista 64-bit, which obviously brings DX10 (and 11) into t…

Hi everyone,My 8800 GT and its drivers have been killing the computer lately, so I'm looking at the ATI Radeon 4870 X2. I want to be ready for FS11 and TS2 as well. Will my current system specs along with an X2 cut it? Or should I wait until late 2009-early 2010? I might also grab a VGA cooler because the 4870 chips run very hot---70C idling and 90C under load!According to Wikipedia: "The specifications for the architectures of the R800 and R900 families are "closed", with the specifications of the R1000 family being developed."Also, if I do get a 4870 X2 or any other type of hardware upgrade, how will my motherboard and power supply hold out? Will I need to upgrade them …

  8. During the Sp3 build 2600 install got hang up for a good while. I barely had any control of the pc, but at least my mouse cursor would move. I brought up task manager (ctrl + alt + del). Near the bottom of the list was a new program running, "shmgrate.exe". I killed that process, and the Sp3 install continued.I did a google search of that process(got my trusty laptop running by my elbow) and got hits that it's either a process of Sp3, or a trojan.Got to the reboot option, and all went well. Loaded all the way into windows.Discoverd that about 20 minutes the desktop seems to lock up. Scanned with N360, Spybot, "MAM". All scans good. Ran Ccleaner. Scans were very hard to a…

Would like to get feedback on those that have the new nVidia GTX 280 and use it with FSX? Stability, performance increase/decrease, visual quality, etc.?I'm also looking at the soon to be released ATI 4870. But early reports is that 4870 suffers AA performance hits.I don't want a multi GPU implementation (Crossfire or SLI) as neither is truely useful to help FSX along. On a Side note: good to see someone is re-writing the FSX engine for use in TS, we've long since known the FSX engine needed a re-write from ground up. XPlane 9's current ability to use hi-res textures at all distances (still DX9 too) and be very frame rate friendly on current hardware, is proof of concep…

Hi Guys, the time has finally come that i am building a machine. Currently, only have one monitor at 1280x1024. Eventually looking at a 3 monitor setup, whether it be TH2GO, or via a second video card. Using a P45 Motherboard so Dual PCI-Express @ 8x each is possible. This will be paired with a Q9450 @ 3.2Ghz and 4Gb Ram (Vista 64)Now, the question is.. which card? The 4850/4870 seems to suffer from extremely loud fans, and a faulty idle speed.. pair'd with some bad drivers, im sort of iffy on this. The 260 , about 100$ more than the 4850, seems to have immature drivers, and is not performing well is FSX.Can anyone shed some light? Greetings,I'm in the information gathering stage of putting together a new system to be used for FSX with Vista 64.I plan on 4GB (2x2GB) DDR2 memory. Is there much to be gained by going to 1066 instead of 800? Looking at the Corsair Dominator. It seems to me that it would be hard to recover enough benefit from the huge increase in the price of this ram. Am I wrong? Thanks,Don

When I ordered my new computer from Cyberpower, I ordered it with 2 gigs of Corsair XMS2 - Xtreme Performance DDR2 Memory PC 6400/800. Then because it was so much cheaper, I ordered 2 more gigs of the same thing from TigerDirect.com, so I thought. But they were not the same, as it turned out !Cyberpower: Corsair Twin2X2048-6400, PC2-6400, 800mhz, 5-5-5-18TigerDirect: Corsair Twin2X2048-6400C4, PC2-6400, 800mhz, 4-4-4-12The question is... Should I just install the extra 2 gigs of memory, or should I order another 2 gigs from TigerDirect to match, and pitch the 2 gigs of Cyberpower installed memory. It's only 34 bucks more.Bob (Las Cruces, NM)

Hey everyone, I am looking to upgrade my current monitor (19" CRT...old I know) to something BIG. I was thinking at first about a projector, however I want something with crisp clear picture (ie. I have also considered LCD TV's (which I can get at a Larger size vs. a Monitor for the same price). Does anyone that uses these have any advice as to which choice would offer me the best performance/picture for the price? What do I need to look for when comparing these? Is there any reason to not install FSX to the D: drive and have that drive totally dedicated to FSX ? After a lot of simming with my CH yoke, it occurred to me that it would be a lot more useful if the hat switch was on the left hand side. Right now to use the virtual cockpit, I have to pan my view to the correct location right hand and then let go and use the mouse. It would be way easier to pan the view with my left hand and have my right hand free to work the throttle and/or the mouse. This would be way smoother to operate things and remain control of the aircraft.Has anyone modded their yoke to move the hat switch to the left handle on the yoke?Cheers,MarkTPS. The new Saitek yoke has the more logical layout with the hat switch on the left.

  22. Which one to believe? I'm fairly new to OCing and have had my processor up and stable to 4.2ghz at 1.375 vcore with Real Temp reporting core temps in the 58 - 60c range under load, which seems fine. But Core Temp consistently reports 10 degrees higher, which makes me nervous and Speed Fan and AI Suite are about in the middle. Right now I'm not comfortable with any of them.My system is FS9 dedicated - nothing else -- I'd like to know what fellow flight simulators use and recommend so I can be confident I don't fry my CPU.Thank you.
