Hi AllI have just started to experiment with over clocking.I have managed to go up to stable 3.24 with the stock cooler, any higher vista is still stable, but when fsx is started the system crashes after about 10 minutes into a flight-less with pmdg 747X.I am wondering what is the highest o/c speed that fellow simmers have managed to get with stock cooler on the q6600.I have read on the forum people getting as high as 3.6-is this possible. Please suggest a good cooler to get the 3.6.I have the msi p35 neo fsb 1333 mother board,4 gig corsair ram 750 watts corsair power supply. Many thanks.Qas

I have a very wierd framerate and AI aircraft issue after upgrade. let me explain...OLD SYSTEME6700 @ 2.67BFG 8800 GTXAsus Striker Extreme MBNEW SYSTEMintel 9450 Quad @ 2.67EVGA 9800 GX2EVGA 780i MBnow my other games saw an improvement, 3d mark saw an improvement but when I load up FSX I saw a significant FPS decrease when using 3rd party planes such as the Flight1 Super80. before at KSAN I would see around 45-50 FPS looking at the city with the settings I have and after the upgrade I am getting around 25-30. I double checked and made sure all my settings were the same. Also, ALL my AI aircraft have disappeared. even if I crank it to 100 percent, nada. I even tried to rec…

Is it possible to under power a video card?My computer's power supply has four 12 volt rails each producing 18 amps. Currently I have the video card powered by a PCI-E cable, one of the 18 volt rails. Some reports I read indicated the 8800GT OC card uses 142 watts at idle and 220 watts at load. Card manufacturer only references a total PS wattage requirement, not an amperage requirement for the card.12 volts times 18 amps gives 216 watts of power per 12 volt rail. At load, the video card uses 220 watts, hence the under power.I have a dual molex to 6 pin (2x3) adpater. Can I attach one molex plug to 12 volt rail #1, and the other molex to 12v rail #2 thereby giving the …

Like alot Ive been waiting for a excuse to dump Nvidia. The menu CTDs and driver musical chairs has got the best of this 10 year Nvidia owner. The bfg 8800gt was a great card but I put in a 4850.Same old FSX aa/af problems were still there but the overall clarity and look was better.Hard to explain but just cleaner looking.BUT!-It CHOKED BAD in the clouds.Bad enough that the card was almost useless unless you are vfr and stay out of em.Forget real weather settings when its ifr.ActiveSkyx. HA HA YOI GOTTA BE KIDDING!Needless to say I was upset.Today I moved up to the 4870 which requires 2 power hookups and is larger. Its also VERY hot.http://www.xtremesystems.org/FORUMS/show…

Hi,a few weeks ago my CRT monitor somekind of exploded. Well, at first a nice widescreen LCD seemed a welcome replacement. Now, after 2 weeks of using my new Samsung Syncmaster i still have trouble to get used to it. I mean, specially night flying isn't what it was before. Where black was black on a CRT, on a LCD it's kinda very dark grey, the pixels never get black completely. I've set the gamma in Catalyst to about the lowest value 0.55 and on the monitor itself a brightness of 0. Did i miss something in setting up this monitor properly or is it a LCD thing? Regards, Gerrit Kranenbarg

I upgraded from an XFX 7300Gt 512mb card to a Sparkle 8500GT 512mb card and the Sparkle seems to perform worse than the XFX, am I missing something? Should I un-install and re-install FSX?Thanks,Danny

Hello,I am one of those who are looking for the most perfect yoke for flight simulator.I am mainly flying airliners like the Level-D 767, and then also some GA aircraft, and I know that I can never get a 100% feel of the real deal, but at least I would like to get a way better feel than with CH and Saitek yokes.I have been thinking of the Cirrus Mooney Yoke (around $550) as one option, but I cant find information whether the movement is high scale (ie. it moves 90 degrees left and right with a total of 180 degrees and how big is the elevator axis travel and resolution).Does anyone own any of these high-end yokes and what can you tell about them? Is it worth the money or i…

For some reason all of a sudden I cant turn my planes while taxi-ing on ground. Anyone know what may be causing this. I have FSX and running it on windows XP with a Saitek Pro Yoke. Thanks

Hi Everyone,I was about to order 2 more sticks of RAM for computer but noticed that the manufacturer (Crucial) has made a change. What I have: 2 GB DDR2 804 Ballistix Kit, part no. BL2KIT12864AA804I believe this is listed at 2.2 volts. What's now available: 2 GB DDR@ 804 Ballistix Kit, Part no. BL2KIT12864AA80A. This is listed at 2.0 volts. Can I use 2 modules at 2.2 volts and 2 at 2.0 volts in my motherboard? The Gigabyte board has a dual channel confuguration, but makes no mention of voltage.Dale

http://www.nvidia.com/Download/Find.aspx?lang=en-usI have downloaded and installed them and there's a slight increase in GPU performance from the 177.83 WHQL drivers. My overall 3DMark Vantage benchmark went up slightly from 13012 (177.83 drivers) to 13084. These new drivers are suppose to increase performance and fix DX10 problems in many games. FSX is NOT one of those fixed and DX10 visual problems still exist. Nvidia does not list any of the problems with DX10 Preview as an issue so they will never be fixed. I strongly believe the "z-buffering" issue where the runway lines appear to be flickering is caused by bad DX10 programming on the part of Microsoft and not a vi…

These three graphics card is from different generation and the cost differ not very much. 1) Asus Extreme GeForce 8800GT 256MB DDR3 870 SEKhttp://www.datorbutiken.com/se/default.asp...uct=ASN88GT-2562) MSI GeForce 9600GT 512MB DDR3 1010 SEKhttp://www.datorbutiken.com/se/default.asp...uct=MSINX96GTOC3) XFX GeForce 9800GT 512MB DDR3 1190 SEKhttp://www.datorbutiken.com/se/default.asp...oduct=XFXGF98GT Would there be any great difference in FSX performence between them? Or could I take the prices as a guide about how well they will perform in FSX (and also FS9)?

Hi everyone,Has anyone out there tried these USB2 to VGA adapters at all? I have a multi-monitor set up with networked PC's with all the usual suspects to maximise the number of screens available: MaxiVista, dual video cards, TripleHead2Go etc. Just wondering if these USB2/VGA boxes are another option to hang more monitors on the system and what their performance is like?Cheers,Andy

Looks like 4870 or 4870 x2 is super fast for OTHER games, but for FSX loses some frame rate. What do you think? Without going into lots of detail re system specs. etc. is it normal that framerates should fluctuate between 29 (locked at 30FPS) and 4 when sitting on a taxiway with the sim paused? Or is this an indication that something isn't right?Bill

Hi all,I am curious as to what people are using for their settings in the CCC with the ATI cards. I just got the 4850 and I don't feel the AA is working correctly. In front of the aircraft I have what basically looks like a couple of horizontal lines where the scenery either shimmers or doesn't have any AA. It really detracts from the experience when I try to fly.My specs:E8200Vista 646 gigs of ramATI 4850 with current drivers from ATI website.22 inch LG monitorThanks in advance for any input.
