Hello! Just a quick question...I would love to eventually get the Matrox Triple H2G setup for 3 monitors, but I was wondering how many of you run FS with just 2 monitors?I'm assuming that my existing graphics card can do this (GeForce 8800GTX)? With two monitors, what is the end result as far as the display goes?I guess I'm asking, how does the VC look with just two monitors? Does the point at which the two monitors meet in the middle obstruct the forward view from the cockpit? I know that with 3 monitors, you get the forward view in the center, and the left and right views on the corresponding monitors, but I'm having a hard time picturing what happens with just two!…

G'day,I'm hoping to move the drives from my old computer to a newer one sporting a dual core cpu and a new Radeon gpu.Am I looking at a great new experience or a world of pain? The drives were formatted and used with an older ASUS P5WD2-E Premium mobo and a Radeon X1600 and Pentium D 3.00GHz. The newer stuff is an ASUS P5K-E mobo, a dual core E6600 Intel cpu and a Radeon 4850.Any advice is very welcome!Cheers,Tony

When building a new system I'm considering one of these three CPUs.I would like to know a little bit more detailed what and how would performence differ in FSX between these alternatives. I intend to use the stock cooler and a 9800GT videocard and 4 Gb 800 MHz RAM on a P35 mb. Also a Corsair HX520W modular PSU has already been purchased.E7200 is significantly cheaper than the other two. Is E8400 going to give me significantly better performence? How will Q6600 perform compared to E8400 with the stock cooler i.e no or cautious overclocking? From what I have understood it would be very bad to save money byRunning FSX without VISTA 64 since it's a 64 bit OSRunning VISTA 64 wi…

Hi all, I recently bought a new pc and size is a bit of an issue so the biggest graphics card that will fit is around 7-8 inches long.I've measured up for an 8800 series, but it's a gnat's $*@? too big.FSX runs pretty well on the current system at around 30fps, but as soon as I introduce real world weather it starts to lag a little, let alone thinking about buying ASX, and when I pull my finger out and get some add ons, I think the performance will diminish even more.So my question is, does anyone know of a small sized GPU that packs a punch and also is it worth over clocking my CPU?My system is Q6600 2.4 Ghz, 2 Gb DDR2 (soon to be 4Gb) and an awful 256Mb 8400 Gs.Many tha…

hello, I'm looking for a new CPU to run FSX (I'm using SP1 and SP2). My current E6600 doesn't exactly produce the best results. I'm considering either the Intel E8600, or the Q9400. Which do you think would perform the best in FSX? I may go into some modest overclocking if I have to. I have 2GB of Corsair DDR2 1066 memory and an 8800 Ultra graphics card (for what it's worth). I'm running Vista home premium 32. I have the latest drivers. I'm a massive aviation fan and wish to run FSX at the highest possible settings. I'm considering purchasing detailed scenery and aircraft addons, such as mega airport Heathrow X, the PMDG 747 etc. I am currently running mytraffic X…

Hello all,I recently upgraded my video card from a XFX Nvidia 8600GT 256MB( tweaked with Nhancer), to a Sapphire ATI Radeon 4850 512MB. I also upgraded my CPU from an AMD Athlon X2 3800+ 2.0GHz, to an AMD Athlon X2 6000+ 3.0GHz. Unfortunately I saw very little improvement, if any at all, in FS9. I find now that all of the menus in FS9 are extremely slow and found that my computer in general slowed down a bit. I thought for sure that these upgrades would have improved things. I put the 8600GT back in and found that my computer is now faster and FS9 (menus are alot faster) is about the same. Any suggestions or ideas as to why this is. Scott

Hello,I just wanted to open another thread on 32bit vs. 64bit.I bet D17S will move in with me here soon ;)OK, what I noticed. In my quest to find the reason why a long flight tends to crash on my PC, I noticed one very interesting thing!Under XP32, Virtual Size keeps growing and growing. It always crashes at landing after 8 hours, but I figured there's some limit that has to be crossed (setting in fs9.cfg, TERRAIN_EXTENDED_RADIUS). If 4, it crashes, if 0 it doesn't. If 4 it also displays more textures, obviously. Usually, reported Virtual Size is around 1500mb while inflight, and 1600-1700 when landing. That is with setting at 4.But, under Vista64, and with setting at 4, …

I have recently brought a new graphics card, a Nvidia GeForce GTX 280, top of the range and easily capable of running FSX, or so I thought.I have a high spec system that is very capable of running the game, my specs are as follows:- Hiper 650W Power Supply- ASUS P5K-E wifi edition motherboard- Intel Q6600 Quad core @ 3.50ghz each core- 1 X 500GB Samsung Spinpoint and 1 X Maxtor 160GB- Nvidia Geforce GTX 280As you can see, I was suprised when i got 1-3 FPS when running FSX. My first action was to reinstall the drivers, I did this and made sure they were the latest available version (177.41). This did not change a thing, so next i resinstalled the service packs for FSX, sti…

I am currently running FS9 through an old Dell 933MHz that is maxed out at 512M of RAM. I put an FX5200 card in it and am running a DualHead2Go through one of the ports for my instrument panel and have one monitor through the other port for outside scenery. Obviously my graphics are pretty poor. At some point I want to get a TripleHead2Go for the outside scenery. Can you see where this is going? What should I be looking for in a computer? Do I need SLI or would a good computer with one dual out graphics card do it?

Can anyone tell me why Tom's Hardware is constantly posting different results for their video card benchmarks in FSX. I recall their first article several months ago showed the 8800GTS as being the fastest. Then another article showed up which indicated the 280 GTX was the fastest. Today there's a brand new article which comes full circle and once again states that the 8800GTS is the winner for FSX. Very confusing.http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/radeon...on,2007-18.html

CH or Saitek? I've read about both. Never seen the Saitek in person, and the CH does not really make me warm and fuzzy, but it sees that issues are more likely with the Saitek. So I seek further opinions :)ThanksTim

Hi everybodyI've just bought an X1950PRO 256MB AGP card (and a 500W PSU to feed it), am I going to be smiling when it replaces my 7600GS 256MB card? I'm running XP SP3, FS9.1 (with bulk addons) Pentium D 3.4GHz and 2GB of ram. I run at 1280x1024 with 32 bit colour on a 21" CRT.I'm secretly hoping this will be an awesome upgrade, but I'm not getting too excited yet... ;)

Hello So is there any truth in the claim that FS2004 and/or FSX would work better with a Nvidia card than a ATI. Specifically sappaire 4850?http://www.yoyotech.co.uk/product_info.php...ducts_id=234559I am thinking it is better to buy this product than spend more money buying parts and making my own PC for the first time when things could go pear shape and have agruements with suppliers about duff parts.krishan Other option was buy parts;asus pk5 preimum wi-fi or pe5q and e8500 plus other parts

Pricewise it's about the same based on the stock cougar. Saitek look to have regular update while the cougar did not have any update for XP since 2004 (both for drivers or foxy software). It seems based on some review it's more precise than the X52.On the others side, it appears that the cougar has some hardcore fan, and with some modding it can get over the $1000 range. But I haven seen a bad review on the X52 pro either.any opinions on which one I should get? I'm not a hardcore gamer, more like the casual gamer. Thanks

Hi all,I'm researching buying a 4870 X2 since all MS games will run better that way. Will I need a better PSU/Power Supply, seeing as the 4870 X2 consumes 245 more watts than the 8800 GT?Thanks!

Need help with getting the throttles to work independently in FS9. It works with FSX. In FS9, I tried assigning them (throttle 1 & throttle 2) but still does not work.

As mentioned before, I prefer not to use SP2. Any way to get SP1 to cooperate with the 3GB switch or is this not possible? With the Super MD-80 I am getting occasional OOM's now at the end of flights into dense scenery. There are other workarounds, but I think this might be worth a look a suggested here and in their very helpful forum. Don't want to do Vista 64 until its otherwise necessary.Noel

Hi.I am (still) getting Out-of-Memory errors, mostly when flying complex payware a/c like PMDG 737s into busy airports. After spending dozens of hours on this, and reading probably hundreds of posts on this forum, (OoM, /3GB switches, use of address space etc - for example):http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...ing_type=search.. I am almost at the point of giving up on it; just wondered if anyone has any further advice before I do so. The screenshot shows that there is still 350MBs of RAM available when the OoM message pops up. I just watch Task Manager show the amount of RAM left going down and down as I approach the destination airport. Am I correct in thinking t…

I just got my quad core 9450 2/67 ghz and I want to overclock it. I have a zalman 9500 on top of it and its on an EVGA 780i SLI board. right now in the bios its clock is at 333 x 8 multiplier. how should I do about overclocking? should I just raise the multiplier to 9 or 10 or raise the clock? Also, what voltage should I run at? I have heard 1.41-1.45 but that seems to be a pretty wide range.

I am running a Q6600 Vista 32 with a Tuniq Tower CPU cooler 4 GB ram and a 4850 ATI card. I guess my question is will overclocking this CPU benefit FSX with results that I will notice? I am very nervous about overclocking because I have no idea where to start. So I guess im wondering is there any need to do it?? FSX seems to run smooth between 20 40 fps with sliders about half way however I haven't setup the ATI card yet. Can anyone recommend some good settings for that card to start with ??Thanks Mark
