Just tried a Panasonic TC-32LZ800 HDTV / Monitor with FSX.All I can say is ... WOW ! 32" of pixel perfect FSX.Seems more CRT like than LCD, but it's a 32" LCD monitor like no other I've seen before and its under $999. Displays a pixel perfect 1920x1080 desktop.Uses IPS LCD technology, so it has a 180deg viewing angle. Many LCD makers claim wide viewing angles... this really has one.IPS tech is usually only found in the highest end monitors costing 2x-3x as much for smaller screens.Other LCDs if you move your head or sit off axis loose contrast. Not this one, it looks the same where ever I move. Also has a very nice black level with a glass like screen. When your in the cockp…

I have a P35 Neo F board and an E6850 chip. The setting in the bios are at 2.4 MHz rather than 3.0 and the chip settings of 333/9 are not in the BIOS but some other settings. Does anyone know where I can get the correct settings for this chip/MB combination. No overclocking settings required.thanks,Mark.

Hello guysFriday, my trusted notebook (a Dell Inspiron 8200) of almost 6 years decided to quit on me...the motherboard is gone and is not worth the repair cost. After careful tweaking, I was able to decently run FS2004 with medium-high settings and add-ons during the years. For professional reasons, I need a laptop and I do not want to buy a separate desktop just to run Flight Simulator.I spent the last 3 days looking for a replacement, comparing prices, performance, customer satisfaction etc...I think I reached a short list of 3 laptops (all of them Gateway) that are within my budget and, in my opinion, the best compromise between price and performance.I would like to kn…

I've got an E4300 overclocked to 3 GHz and an 8800GT. I'm considering moving to either an E8400 or a Q6600, overclocked as far as they will go with air cooling. I'm wondering if the difference in FSX would be worth the cost and which option would be better?

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/internet-...ta/default.aspxAnyone tempted enough to try the new IE8 beta? LOLI know most around here probably don't use IE or like trying new things for fear of "comtamination" to their system, but I thought I'd at least ask. I liked IE7 when it was new and 8 looks interesting.FWIW, I don't like FF or the other 3rd party browsers.

Hello So is there any truth in the claim that FS20094 and/or FSX would work better with a Nvidia card than a ATI. Specifically sappaire 4850? http://www.yoyotech.co.uk/product_info.php...ducts_id=234559 I am thinking it is better to buy this product than spend more money buying parts and making my own PC for the first time when things could go pear shape and have agruements with suppliers about duff parts. krishan

Looking at: Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD2500AAKS 250GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM From Newegg...Looking at the "reviews" it seems that every manufacturer has about 1%, or less, of DOA drives. Each angry customer places a curse on the vendor. I would guess that they are all about equal???I had asked this before, but just to confirm before I click the magic Purchase button - I have two IDE drives but thnew one is a SATA. Can I mix them? (ASRock Dual VSTA board)The reason for getting a new drive is that existing one has become very slow (about 1/4 of its "should be" xfer rate. Total reformat produced no change. This before the button click any last …

Hi All, I've been simming for many years and due to an old system have remained with FS9 until now. Although I've not changed my system I was given a copy of FSX Delux as a present. I loaded it up, not really expecting much after reading so much about the problems (unless blessed with a high end PC)In fact, out of the box it ran surprisingly well! I've added SP1 & 2 and am frankly enjoying using it. A friend tells me that the official Nvidia drivers leave a lot to be desired (I've never noticed any problems!!) It was recommended I loaded "Omega" drivers for an improved performance.I'm reluctant to change the drivers without some advice from those with more knowledge …

One thing that makes this a difficult task is that no matter what mb I find there always seems to be some customer review reporting problems. This was the case with a P35 Gigabyte mb.Would you prefer some special manufacturer? Should I stay away for some particular manufacturer?I think I have these must requirementQuality things should workSupport for 45 nm CPUSupport for at least 4 Gb RAM (since I intend to use Vista 64)Affordable I don't wan't to pay for features I don't need no absolute requirement but it would be a proMany PCI slots, at least two not obstructed by the videocardGood supportIs this a good requirement list? Any suggestion for a good mb

Hi There!I'm just looking at buying this computer for FSX - I'm upgrading from and old 1.7GHz machine... I don't need to be on the cutting edge of modern technology, but I want to be able to run FSX at 30fps with a few addons and ActiveSky.Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 / GeF 9500 GT 512 MB4 GB DDR2 800 / 500 GB SATA II / 20x DVD-RW DL I've read in this forum that the processor is more important than the graphics card, so I've focussed on putting my money there. I can get another card later if needed.I know there are better computers out there but like I say, budget is important. Is there anything I should look out for here? Any hidden traps? Many thanks,Tom

Due to a computer hardware problem I have had to change my MB and Video Card. I have just installed a MSI P45 Neo-F MB and a 8800GT video card.I now seem to have random freezing of the computer. Strangely when I am running a program like FS or VRC and using the mouse or keyboard, the computer seems to run for hours. Even with FS alone and no input I am yet to see a feeze but when I leave Windows idle with no main program running it does freeze after some period of time.I have run procmon and it froze while on a task for the video card. All drivers are up to date (with exception of the chipset/bios which I think is up to date but not 100% sure). I am being told by the …

This is not exactly pure Hardware question and therefore I have it also posted on the FS9 Forum and in addition on the MSFS Hardware Forum.Next week i shall get a new rig. Hence my question: what is the best way to transfer FS9 from my old system to the new one. I have collected lots and lots of addons, freeware and payware over the past few years and want to avaoid to go throught the installing procedures again. For freeware this would be a to big a problem, but for payware with all the registration and license huzzle...Maybe a stupid idea: will it work if I just tranfer the hard drive from my old system to the new one? In my old sys I only had 1 HD, so I assume everythi…

Hi All, I'm slowly moving to FSX and running high end addons with it.My main sim is FS9 and she has all the bells the bells and whistles.I don't have the money for a complete system upgrade until at least next year so here's the question.....I have an ASUS A8N32-SLI mobo and an athlon64 4000+ OCed to 2.64GHZ, 2GB OCZ platinum DDR Ram and a 256MB 7800GT video card.it all runs on XP32.Would it be worth my while ( and which would be better in FS9 and FSX) to buy either a RADEON 4870 512 card or 2 512MB 8800GT cards in SLI as cost is about the same . would frame rates increase? burries decrease? which would give a better perf. boost and visual quality?the only other game I…

Simmers,Over the past 24 hours, I've noticed some unfortunate stability issues with my PC. At first I though it might have been viral or malicious software that snuck through my net, but that has since been ruled out. I was getting some Windows desktop anomalies in that Firefox needed to be minimized then restored in order to be used, icons couldn't be dragged to the recycle bin or to/from Windows Explorer, and even a crash of my normally rock-stable email program. This morning, I restored my PC from a virgin-fresh TrueImage build I created back when I last rebuilt my computer - no applications on it, and nothing to cause any incompatibilities. Some of the symptoms were s…

Hey guys,I've just upgraded my video card to an ATI Radeon 4850 and my CPU to an AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ 3.0GHz, now I am trying to figure out what sound card to get. I currently have a Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 7.1 SE. My main concern is how much a sound card affects performance in FS9? There are two cards that I have been looking at: Creative Sound Blaster X-FI Xtremegamer FATAL1TY Professional Series Sound Card 7.1 PCI, and the Creative Sound Blaster X-FI Xtreme Gamer 24BIT Sound Card 7.1 PCI. The first one is approx $150.00, and the other is approx $100.00. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.Scott.

I have a 7950GT and am just about to replace it with an 8800 GST /768MB card. A few questions:- Is there an optimal driver for FSX that I should try? or just the newest one?- Is nHancer still required to sert up the viseo card for FSX in the best possible way? I had read here that nHancer is no longer necessary, but would like to confirm that. - Any other adcvice? Thanks, I have a Q6600 with 2GB of DDR3 Ram, running XP SP2.Thanks, Bruce.

Hi,I have recently started trying to fly in my flight sim (FSX) in a much more realistic way rather than just using the easiest settings. I've bought the book "FSX for Pilots: Real World Training" to help me. I only have a joystick, mouse and keyboard at the moment and am finding it hard to do co-ordinated turns using the rudder. I'm finding controlling the rudder with the keyboard is really difficult. Do I need to buy rudder pedals? If so does anyone use the Keybird pedals as these are the cheapest I can find and I am on a tight budget. Would they be worth getting or do I need to get a more expensive set? Many thanks for any feedbackJon
