For insomniacs: The attached JPEGS show the results of four benchmarks with an E8500 at stock speed and overclocked to 4GHz. My GPU is an 8800 Ultra superclocked by EVGA. The benchmark is the FSXMark07 download from AVSIM's file library. What (I think) they show is this: 1. At the benchmark's standard "Global high" settings:(a) the average framerate increases almost linearly - or better than linearly - with the extra speed of the CPU; and(:( the % of time with at least 25fps and 30fps also goes up significantly: ie, smoothness is much better.2. However, if I use my own more onerous settings (shown as "Tim's settings" in the JPEGS: see * below for a detailed description), t…

OK heres a good one, just installed the above pedals on my system. They work great on FSX, but in FS9 its a weird situation to say the least. When the pedals are plugged in to my tower it makes the VC cockpit view pan a full 360 up and over from the roof to the floor. Ive installed them correctly and spent about an hour on the phone with Tech help from the company I bought them from but we cant stop the problem. Does anyone have any ideas? At first i thought one of the hat switches on my X52 system was programmed to cycling views but it isnt. Ive also done a delete of the FS9 config and rebuilt it and installed again but the problem still occurs, strange it works fi…

My TH2G died last night and now I need to ask the hardware gurus which is better-another TH2G or getting a new video card that can support up to 3 monitors at 1280-1024 resolution? I have a GeForce 7600 video card with 512 MB of RAM currently and am running on Win XP. I'll have to check when I get home about what my motherboard specs are. I know it's an ASUS board with 1 PCIe slot. I'm pretty sure it a P5B to run my core duo. Thanks,Eric

A report on the Inquirer website says: "It seems that four board partners are seeing G92 and G94 chips going bad in the field at high rates. These chips are used in the 8800GT, 8800GTS, 8800GS, several mobile flavours of 8800, most of the 9800 suffixes, and a few 9600 variants. The G94 is basically only the 9600GT". http://www.theinquirer.net/gb/inquirer/new...-g94-reportedlyI had heard about the nVidia laptop graphics card issue that has been widely reported, but this is the first time desktop graphics chips have been tarred with the same brush. I've got the 8800GT myself, so this is not welcome news. About the only saving grace is that my card is already a lot slower th…

The following article shows a setup which is almost identical to mine except for the memory. The article states that it was very easy to take that setup to 4.27Ghz and even tells you how. I've tried the settings that they mentioned but it simply does not work for me. So far the highest I can go is 3.8Ghz. Any ideas on what I may be doing wrong? Thank you.http://www.neoseeker.com/Articles/Hardware...x48-dq6/15.html

I recently started another thread on this problem, but got no solution. I now have more data.I am using Vista Home Premium with SP1.I plugged in the yoke and pedals and then installed CH Control Manager which claimed to install drivers, but the devices were never rocognized by Control Panel/Game Controllers. When I couldn't find a solution that way, I restored the system to a state immediately prior to installing CH Control Manager. I plugged just the yoke into the on-board USB and the system told me it couldn't find a driver. I stopped that process and went to Device Manager. Under Human Interface Devices was CH Flight Sim Yoke. In Properties at the General tab, Status s…

I have been using the same hardware setup for over a year and just over the last 2 days, I have been seeing something strange. When I move my mouse to bring my computer our of hibernation, my 3 screens (connected with Matrox TripleHead2Go analog) are now out of phase or blurry (see attached screenshot). When I go to my display properties and change the settings to something else, it clears up and I return to my original settings. I can then do whatever I need to without issue. Later, when not in use, the computer goes into hibernation mode again and later when I bring it out, it happens again. I cleaned out my tower using the dust blower and have checked by my video card …

Has anyone seen or heard of this problem before? When I fly FSX the sim acts likes its running at 1/2 speed if I set the sim to 2x or 4 x all seems to run fine but at normal it flys like I am in water or somthing very strange.I check my FPS and the are running between 200 and 500 fps. I have all my setting to mid level and if I set target frame rate to 30 the game runs like a slide show I check and I am at 30 fps but a slide show. I double check the fps with Fraps and they are about the same.I have done a complete reinstall of FSX deluxe and Aceleration pack. I am running a ATI 1900 card with the latest drivers 8-7 but had the same problem with 8-5 drivers as well. Here is…

Fellow Simmers,I've been away from the scene for a few years and my was thinking of treating myself to a new system for FSX (still using FS9 on present machine).I have no idea of hardware and requirements of FSX soe would the following be any good? I want to but off shelf and this system is around my budget at GBP1200If it helps - I like to max out most sliders but am happy to compromise on 3D clouds and AI traffic.Apreciate your responses / recommendations.PS I'm in the UK. I recently purchased a 21" wide screen monitor. It recommends a default resolution of 1680 x 1050 @ 60 hrz. However my graphics card is only an NVidia FX7600 GT with 256MB RAM, and I have found that on occsions when running FSX at the above resolution, I get corruption of the menus in FSX. I am wondering, even though the graphics card recommends running at the above, whether I would be better running at a lower resolution and whether this would provide me with better graphics memory management?Any advice?Cheers,Stuart

Any ideas what would be causing my system to lock up when in FS9 flying PMDG 737NG. It seems to shut down and go into the opening screen for no apparent reason other than I get into high weather areas and in the outside the cockpit view.My CPU temp. is running 49C and both core 1 & 2 are running between 43&45 degrees..My system is 2.4ghz overclocked to 3.16ghz, 4 gig of PC2-800 memory, Asus P5B-E motherboard, a tunig cooler with fan and an ATI 1650 Graphic card.Should I uninstall FS9 and do a reinstallation? I recently did a defrag so I pretty sure it's not the problem..Welcome any suggestions.Regards, jack

Hi all,Well, first off, apologies if I've posted in the wrong forum - it's a sort of hardware issue (8800 GTS 512), but more driver related. Please see the attached - this is really noticeable (and annoying) when in flight - spot viewing from angles gives this rather unpleasant jaggies across the wing (and this paint nicely shows off the problem on the fin too). If I look straight down, though, the lines are crisp and sharp. It'll happen on the ground and in the air; I've also noticed taxilines and runways exhibit the same problem. I've found that if I zoom in to 1x, then the edges are rendered fine, but as soon as I zoom out more than 2x, then they'll appear (happens in …

Hi AllHope some of you can help me out. I just bought a Sapphire ATI 4850 to replace my aging nVidia 7800 GT. I was looking for a good price/performance midrange card and found the new ATI 4850 unbeatable.I was/am running a ASUS premium A8N32 board (SLI -board - but am not planning on crossfire - am a singlecard man) with a A64 4200+ X2, 2 Gb RAM, X-Fi gamer, 250 Gb WD Sata II, XP SP2 and just changed the 7800GT with the 4850, uninstalled the nVidia drivers, installed the supplied ATI/Sapphire CD drivers and CCC.Now BF2 and Vegas2 where running - but especially BF2 a little jerky... I now uninstalled the CD drivers (don't remember version), installed the new ATI catalyst …

I have just bought a new system based on the quad intel 6600 processor, 4gb of ram and a geforce 9600gt with 512mb. The monitor is 22". What would be the optimal settings for this setup? I don't do a great deal of urban flying and I like the A320/737 aircraft.

Hello, Just about to buy a Samsung Spintpoint F1 1Tb Hard disk, it has 3 platters of 334Gb approx each. My question is as this will be the only hard disk in my computer would it be wise to partition it or leave as one whole drive? If partition is recommended what would be the ideal split? I thought about 3 partitions of 334Gb, makes logical sense doesn't it?I welcome your expert opinions :-beerchug

This is not exactly pure Hardware question and therefore I have it also posted on the FS9 Forum and in addition on the PC/MAC forum.Next week i shall get a new rig. Hence my question: what is the best way to transfer FS9 from my old system to the new one. I have collected lots and lots of addons, freeware and payware over the past few years and want to avaoid to go throught the installing procedures again. For freeware this would be a to big a problem, but for payware with all the registration and license huzzle...Maybe a stupid idea: will it work if I just tranfer the hard drive from my old system to the new one? In my old sys I only had 1 HD, so I assume everything nece…
