Hi,I will soon be getting a new system and most all the posts that I read FSX does better with 64 bit version. I will have 4 GB of ram at 800 mhz dual boot system Q 9450 O/C'ed 8800 GT. 790i MB. I will be flying FSX most of the time however, I do play other games from time to time and I was wondering if 64 bit would be compatible with other games? My 5 yr old system that I am using for FS9 and other games now is an Alienware: xp pro, Intel P4 3.20 ghz, 2gb memory, Radeon 850 x,(up grade from 9800PRO)Intel MB BZ87510A, 320.1 gb raid 0 volume HD, I've had FSX well over a year still in the box not opened, waited patiently for new system that would run it. Also on dual boot s…

If you have recently built rig and its running FSX very well, I want to see your specs.Or if you have and there is hardware you wished you would have done different, let me know.My freind owns a computer store and wants to sit down with me and go over the options.I want the BEST but nothing so new and exotic that its umproven.FSX can be finicky so I would rather have tried and true than be a hardware Guinea pig.I understand that something amazing is always just around the corner.I am planning on moving to Vista 64, keeping my raptor 150 hd,maybe my 8800gt,Xfi sound card and 2 cd/dvd drives. Other than that, everything else new.The most important info is,proccessor,MOB,ram…

I currently have an 8800 Ultra. In FSX, some addon aircraft slow down my frame rate. I recently purchased the CLS 747 and when I used virtual cockpit view with this aircraft, my frame rate drops nearly in half. Would upgrading to a GTX 280 solve this problem? Also would upgrading to the GTX 280 give me better performance with the LD-767 aircraft? I saw the benchmark results for FSX and the GTX 280 did worse than an 8800 Ultra but now there are newer drivers out and I don't know if that improved performance in FSX.

As you might have seen, FlyTampa released their Kai Tek scenery. Here's a thread going on next door and here's a quote from one of their devs. Those of us that are Not programmers might be interested to observer that those that are have ThiS to say about ThaT: "FS always could handle an insane amount of Polygons without much of a hit. The performance problems stem out of the inefficient graphics engine, primary the terrain system & texture loading. Please push ACES for a complete engine re-write & more sceneries like this will be developed in the future. Currently FSX scenery development is plagued with a below average SDK & documentation; near zero overhead b…

I just got my NEW GTX280 TODAY and after installing it and testing FSX, all I can say is: WOW!With my previous card (9800 GX2), I was getting too mauch micro stuttering and I had to play it in DX10 Preview Mode just so I could get better FPS. This meant that I had to live with just the 2XAA and taxiway line flickering. After installing the GTX280, I flew a quick test circuit around the Richmond, VA area and I was totally impressed. Some might say that this area is not as demanding as places such as NYC, but this area is where I always do my hand-on testing and if I notice a tremendous increase in performance here, then I know that it's indeed an improvement which will tran…

So this house we moved into already has speaker wires running to their respective locations for 5.1 audioThe guy wired the rear speaker cables through the top of our basement, above the tiles (which I removed on the route to make sure there were no disconnecting wires). I can't see any visual anomalies in the routing either, however I must confess I can't see about 5% of the wiring. I also made sure that the polarity is correct for the connection from the speaker to my system. I did the 5.1 audio test and get no sound through the two rear speakers L + R.However, when I use my own crappier cabling , the speakers work perfectly. I'm at a loss here. Is there a way to test th…

this is slightly off topic, but considering i'll be needing internet to fly FSX online, I'll ask here:Which is better, AT&T or Comcast?I'm looking at AT&T Elite Plan for $35/mo (6Mbps / 768kbps)vscomparably priced Comcast. Comcast's site sucks, doesn't have a "compare plan" feature... so I'm not really sure what the exact speeds are of their different plans.I'm leaning towards AT&T due to the price for 6Mbps. But is 6Mbps fast enough for gaming?

I have a Gigabyte GA-965P-DS4 motherboard with a Q6700 Quad Core CPU. I have 4GB of Corsair 1066 ram in 4x1GB and it runs at Dual Channel.I wanted to overclock this a little to see if it was okay and originally this failed completely which was due to one stick of ram. It has now been replaced and thought I would have another go. I used the C.I.A part of the BIOS just to see how it would go thinking this would be the easiest way to do it. However when FSX ran it was only running about 1FPS and the sound was stuttering and the mouse jerking. The temps on the cores were up over 60 degrees so I thought it must not be getting cooled enough and was throttling itself back.I have…

Hi There,I have been seeing like a silver texture on my AI plane , and some times with my own aircraft, when I change Aircraft. All my texture are gone, and it becomes to a shiny silver texture.I have an Nvidia 8800GTS 512MB and the driver is the latest 175.19.I am running XP 32Bit.I use Nhancer .Any idea why, and how can I fix this. Thanks

I've had this problem with a variety of drivers recently and am not sure why this happened. In the Nvidia settings manager, I have absolutely no program listings. Even when I click to add a program (fsx), nothing appears. I have been able to manage settings through the global manager and Nhancer. But, I want to know why no program listings appear in the program Settings screen and how I can get the Nvidia driver to recognize installed programs. thanks...Sherm

Hi everybody,I have posted on the ctd forum but think I have a hardware problem.Having reformated, latest drivers , clean reinstall of FSX, my system still crashes after 5 - 10 minutes. The only item that I think it could be is the graphics card being an HD 3870 X2. I have just taken delivery of this system so its not too late to change to Nvidia if thats what it takes to get FSX up and running. Has anyone else had a major problem with the system just not being stable at all? Thanks,JohnIntel Core 2 Quad QX9650 o/c to 4. 0 GhzASUS Maximus Extreme Intel X38 ExpressASUS Radeon HD 3870 X2 1 GB4 gb ram OCZ DDR3 PC10666 (1333Mhz)WD Raptor 150GBSeagate Barracuda 500gbEnermax Ga…

Good Day,Anyone running one of the new ATI 4850 or 4870 cards yet with FS9 or FSX.... Working up a new build for the next computer and would like to stay with ATI. I have had such outstanding performance from my last two cards a Radeon 9800 and a X850XT that I am hesitant to switch to the competition...... Both cards seem to be getting very good reviews but no indication of performance with Microsoft Flight Simulators...... Any info appreciated.....Thanks,JayDub

HAVING SOME TROUBLE SELECTING A NEW VIDEO CARD FOR THE HP M1270N MEDIA CENTER PC. RIGHT NOW I AM USING AN ATI X1600 512MB CARD. PROBLEM HAS BEEN THE LENGTH OF THE VIDEO CARDS I HAVE TRIED. TRIED USING THE 8800GT AND ATI 4850 BUT THEY ARE BOTH ABOUT AN INCH TOO LONG AND WOULD SLICE INTO THE 12 PIN CABLE FROM THE POWER SUPPLY THAT PLUGS INTO THE MOTHERBOARD. LOOKS LIKE BOTH CARDS ARE AROUND 9 INCHES AND NEED SOMETHING SHORTER BUT THEN I RUN INTO THE PROBLEM OF BUYING A LESSER CARD THAT MIGHT NOT MAKE IT WORTHWHILE. ALSO LOOKS LIKE THE 9600GT HAS THE SAME ISSUE IF I TRIED IT. WOULD BE NICE IF VIDEO CARD MAKERS PUT THE DIMENSIONS ON THE BOX! PLEASE HELP IF YOU CAN. MIGHT BE …

Alright, well I purchased FSX deluxe last fall (2007) and much to my disappointment my computer could not handle it. I am now very close to purchasing a new graphics card to be able to play FSX. I'd appreciate if you guys could tell me if you think this card would work well on FSX. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814130332http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/EVGA/Ge..._8800_GS/1.htmlThe review above seemed to give it pretty high marks and the price seems right to me. By the way, my computer is a Pentium 4 3.00 ghz sony desktop running windows xp. It seems pretty fast (doing things besides FSX) to me but I was surprised that it only has 512mb. I might end …

I started fs2004 last night and was amazed by the frame rates. Were maxed out at 26 where I put the slider. Noticed my sidewinder force feedback was not plugged into my sound card.(I just cleaned the inside of the computer). Frame rates went back to around 10-12 fps like before. Are there newer drivers for the original force feedback, should I get another sound card? I want the 26 fps back and would appreciate any help anybody has. Thanks Jeff

Hello,Could someone tell me whether the toe brakes on the saitek rudder pedals, or any other brand for that matter, allow for gradual braking, as opposed to on/off as is the default situation using buttons? If not, is this something configurable with FSUIPC?Thanks for any response.Tony

Ok I'm trying to move back to windows vista home premium after dealing with ultimate 64 for a bit. After installing and doing windows update my computer won't start. When you shut it down after upgrade it says configing updates the shutingdown. It never shuts down. So I turn it off and it boots up until the point of the Microsoft screen with the scrolling load bar. The bar is not smooth it is interupted then starts and so on.Now after a system restore everything goes back to normal. After some investigating the details log in the recovery it said something about a system files integrity error and erroc code 0xa . Any help would be appreciated.
