I am thinking of changing my Flat screen which is very poor and fairly old to a new 24" HDMI flat screen monitor. I believe to connect to my 8800 GTX video Card I would use a DVI to HDMI Cable connection?Just wondering if this will be any good?Cmparing my old flat screen which was fairly poor in terms of sharpness and quality compared to my even older CRT screen where the quality was superb, just wondering if the HDMI will be better than my current Flat Screen. Also which is better 2ms or 5ms?I will be using the new monitor for viewing DVD's as well as flying FSX / FS9.Best Wsihes and many thaks,Chris

Hi Guys, this is my first post on this forum. A little about myself, I've been contracted to build several PC's for a company. The last PC that needs to be built is for the owners personal use. He owns a Flight Maintenance training company, and is looking for a PC that he can run FSX on. I personally have no experience with FSX (or any FS_ for that matter), and have decided to ask for advice from the pro's when it comes to hardware. I've been researching the hardware requirements, and FSX as a simulator for about 3 months when i started refreshing the first of his companies PC's. Knowing that eventually, i'd have to make a serious decision for him, i prepared myself by do…

Hi there!I'm new here, but I have a hardware problem with my new FSX.I use a laptop computer:Acer Aspire 5680-6509Core 2 Duo 2.16 GhzGeforce Go7600 256mb2gb DDR2I have all scenery sliders at max and it runs just fine if I limit it to 20 fps. But, after about a minute, the frames drop to 5-6 fps. They stay that way for some time and the funny thing is, if I Alt-Tab to my desktop and go back in, the frames are back at 20. So, after some time, they hop back to 20, but most of the time they stay low.If I reduce the graphics in FSX, I do get more frames (more than 20, if I cancel the limit) but the drop to 5-6 fps stays...I have no idea what that problem might be, it worked ju…

Hi all.Altough my need is not strictly-speaking an hardware one, I hope this is a right place to submit it. All my friends that have FSX can host or join a private multiplayer session, I can't. They are all on WinXP as I.I have no problem joining an FSInn, an FSHostClient or a Squakwin session but I just can't login onto someone's else private FSX session or have anyone join a session I host. When I try to login I get to the "Trying to connect" windows and get stuck there. It seams that others trying to join my session get the same.System here: WinXP SP2 with all updates, FSX SP2, all SDKs, E8400 CPU/2GB/GigabyteG31 MB/9600GT-NVIDIA 174.74. No router. 6. Hi ThereI've just moved over to Nvidia from ATI with the purchase of an Nvidia OEM 8800GTX.However, assuming that the drivers that come packaged will be obsolete, i thought i'd have a look on here to find out what drivers you guys are currently using. Big mistake !!! there seems to be a lot of debate (and potential pitfalls) with what seems like all the driver versions. For someone like me who initially just wants to get the new card up and running with the minimum of fuss (and will fine tune later) could anyone please recommend which drivers i should use as a starting point for FS9.1 running under XP Pro SP2.Many thanksGary

Hi everyone!First I would like to thank all those who in two other posts helped me make a choice for my new system.I finally bought my new PC meant for FS9.1 (for a good price):-Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3GHz-GeForce 8800GT 512MB-2 GB RAM DDR2-800-ASUS MOBO-good cooling and power supplyNow the question to you, Gurus. ;)Generally I'm very happy with the new equipment. My FPS went up and I can finally have smooth landings at large airports. My FS also loads much faster. There are still two problems: one old and one new.The old one is the ground texture blurries. I still get them, though the CPU is quite strong as for FS9.1, isn't it.I have applied alstiff's and Koorby's fs9.cfg …

I'm about to take out a loan for college and I'll be accounting for a nice desktop in the amount i take... I'm figuring around $3000.what's the latest greatest out there to run FSX? I've been at Air Force Basic Training, and now I'm at Tech school... so i've been out of the loop for a while...I want XP for sure, not jumping to vista yet... I'm figuring any desktop that can run FSX wont have a problem with other new games, so i'd like to build around running FSX, especially since i'll be using it for training purposes as I'll be majoring in Flight Science...The only other game it absolutely must be able to run is Tribes 2... lol

When choosing a new system I have reached two alternativesAMD 64 X2 6000+ 3 GHzIntel Intel Core 2 Duo E7200 2.53GHz 3MB FSB1066 BoxedWhich of these are most powerful? How big is the difference? Thw question refers to no overclocking.I suppose the Intel 8400 is significantly more powerful but how big is the difference? How much difference would these alternatives mean in FS9 and FSX?

If you do, HOW in the world are you managing centering force in FS9, WITHOUT the usage of FSForce - I recently discovered that I have a major FPS drop (25-40%) compared to no using it, using in 2D and VC. I tried configuring it differently, but all hopes are lost. Deleted this wonderful addon, now my joystick has no centering force.

Just installed FS Autostart for FS9 and by shutting down 90% of the PC system (which takes around 10 mins) my FPS has increased and more importantly the video quality has improved it is sharper and there are less blurries.I am assuming that by shutting down these non esseential services that less strain is placed on the CPU thereby allowing it to maximise thepowere required for FS9 Does this make sense, or am I been a little over optimistic?Best Regards,ChrisEGBB ~ UK

My computer is in for upgrades. The tech has called and stated the only way he can get 4 gb to work is upgrade to VISTA. The most graphics is a Nvidia 7800 (because of AGP connection on the motherboard) I am not a computer techie which this stuff is gobblegook to me) Anyway, the long and short of this will FS9 work with VISTA ( I must have 30 add-ons)?Thank youJCP

Hi there,After using my current PC for about 5 years I'm looking to upgrade it, but I'm a bit confused on what to get!For now I'm predominantly going to be using FS2004 and would like that to run as smooth as silk, but I may upgrade to FSX sometime in the future.I use a lot off addons such as AS6, PMDG, and large busy airports from aersoft etc so I want a lot of power for all the eye candy! So, I'm not sure whether to get a "Quad Core Q6600 2.4GHz 1066FSB SLACR G0 Stepping" or a "Core 2 Duo E8500 3.16GHz 1333FSB" Which will give me the best performance. Also not sure about the graphics card. nVidia or ATI? I'm leaning towards a nVIDIA 8800 mother but heard nVidia cards have…

Hi ThereI'm in the process of upgrading from an ATI to a NVidia graphics card and would like some advice on the cleanest way to remove any traces of the old ATI drivers.Obviously i'll uninstall the drivers first. After that i tend to use RegCleaner to look for any traces of old ATI drivers etc. Does this seem a sensible approach or are there any specific tools available that makes the process fullproof ?Many thanks for any helpGary

When playing using my saitek joystick the throttle doesn't go back to idle. In any plane when I switch on the engines they sit idling fine but as soon as a throttle up they then back down to idle they stick at 34% and 79% for maximum power.I've used the calibration for the joystick and in FSX but can't seem to fix them problem. Should I try to uninstall and reinstall the drivers?
