I have AVG 7.5 (free edition) and have often wondered how effective this is in preventing any nasties being installed on my PC. I am willing to pay for an anti-virus / anti-malware/trojan etc. program but dont know which is best while preserving performance for FSX. Does anyone have a recommendation? I don't know that I have anything bad installed, but would like to have something to be sure. Thanks, Bruce.

Well guys, Im in quite a pickle at the moment...On friday I bought http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?sk...d=1204332501169 but woulnd't of minded http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?sk...d=1204331806567 I did find one today, but they also have a velocity micro system for 850 that is discontinued. 2gig ram, E6550, 8600gt (would be replace by 2 8800gt's at the store). The asus board is compatible with the 45nm's, so the upgrade potential is still good for me. Should I switch to a desktop?

Two questions for those already using this type setup. 1. If I have my second drive designated as "D", when I install FSX to it I will have to change the letter "C" to "D" manually during the install, correct?2. When I subsequently install add ons with an auto installer will it automatically detect in the registry that FSX is on "D" and install to the correct drive? Or will I always need to manually point it to "D"? (I do know that, usually, the last page of the setup windows for any program or add on shows where it will be installed to after pushing the "Next" button.)Thanks in advance.

I have an old AMD 64 3200+ and AGP socket 939 mb. I have lately been experiencing severe problems propably related to the videocard (maybe mb or psu). Therefore my conclusion is that the best option is to get a new system. My situation right now means that the price must be kept down (must use credit). I would like to hear opinions about my reasoning below and see if I might forget anything. As a mb my conclusion is that a Asus M2N-SLI nForce 560 SLI MCP 4DDR2-DIMM 2PCI 4PCIe is the best option which I intend to use with a AMD Athlon64 X2 Dual-Core 6000+ and 2 Gb 6400 DDR2 RAM.http://www.datorbutiken.com/se/default.aspx?Product=ASM2NThe reason for AMD and not Intel is that …

Not sure if this is the right place for this question but here goes.Having not much on this weekend I installed Vista on a newly built XP based machine. I carefully installed on a separate drive, but I was interested to see what all the fuss. looks good for general use, i thought.Anyhow, I thought I'd run FSx to see what it was like, only to get a Directx error message. Something about version 9. of course it's 10 under vista and 9 under XP.Any ideas if it should work, and what i might do to get it working.thanks

I used to be able to pan around using a hatswitch on my Saitek X36 joystick/throttle combo while in Virtual Cockpit mode, and also while in Spot Plane mode. Now after foolishly trying to make some changes, I have lost this function.I don't think I ever had to set up the hatswitch panning - it just worked that way "straight out of the box".If I try to reenable the panning in the Assignments pages, it just treats the hatswitch as a single switch, not as an 8 way switch. This means whichever way the hatswitch is moved, it always pans in the same direction and only in that direction. Any new assignment for the hatswitch to try to add another pan direction cancels the previo…

I was browsing the local Best Buy just now and looked at the video cards for pure curiosity and they have a Visiontek HD 3870 512Mb for $129! I'm itching to pick it up but wanted some opinions.I currently have a 7950GT 256Mb x 2 SLi config., but I have anti-aliasing problems with both Flight Sim and was looking at going the ATi route. The performance difference is not much if any, according to benchmarks, and hopefully this would cure my AA issue.Any experiences with the HD 3870 would be great and any tips, opinions would be appreciated! Thanks,Kyle

I uninstalled CCC and installed Tray Tools. I set up a profile for FSX but nothing seems ot be taking effect. My question is what should be set in the graphics section of FSX? Should the AF be set to none and the AF be unchecked? Or do I need to set the AF to Bi-trilinear? I know I want Tray Tolls to do the work and have application Controled unchecked etc.TurnipSPECS:VISTA Home Basic 580 WATT Sunbeam PowerCrucial Ballistix 4GB(2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAMASUS P5N-E SLI LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 650i SLI ATX Intel Motherboard Intel Core 2 Duo E6550 Conroe 2.33GHz LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor Model BX80557E6550ATI Radeon 3870 512250 GB WD SATA HD 120 GB WD IDE HD[/url]

Using two monitors for the sim the mouse scroll function will not work on the secondary monitor in full screen mode. (It works fine in windows mode.) The exception is if I click on the primary and then scroll on the secondary. It works but only until I click on the secondary. I would appreciate knowing whether there is something I can do to encourage my mouse to scroll on both monitors so I can "turn" knobs on the secondary as I do on the primary in full screen mode. Peter.

Not sure if anyone else is having this issue, but I have a 780 sli motherboard with two Nvidia 8800 GTX cards set up in SLI mode. I'm runinng them with a 1000 watt powersupply with an Intel quad 9650 on a Vista 64 system. Now, when I have the cards working in SLI mode, my screen begins blinking when the cards are stressed and then it locks up. I'm running the latest NVIDA drivers, but that hasn't cleared it up. If I only run one card, then everything is fine. Any thoughts as to what might be the problem?Bill

Just wanted to get some opinions on this upgrade I've been looking at.First will be from the E6600 up to the E8400 CPU.Now the video card. I've been doing a bit of reading and it seems like the 8800GTX 768Mb might be a better buy for most of what I'll be doing over the 9800GTX and would just like a few opinions/suggestions.Thank you.- Kyle

Just a heads-up that Microsoft has released the June update to DirectX. Download it here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...&DisplayLang=enThe DirectX end-user installation includes all the latest and previous released DirectX runtime. This includes the bi-monthly D3DX, XInput, and Managed DirectX components. It supports all Windows Operating Systems.I installed it and see no changes to DirectX issues in FSX but one can only have hope.Best regards,Jim
