Hi guys,I have searched and searched and I seem to recall seeing a comment or two about a fix for getting wide screens to map properly to the keyboard. For some reason, when I key in @, I get " and visa versa.I noticed this today when I hooked up my new monitor. When I use the keyboard on my normal monitors, back to normal. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi, I usually use the flight sim called "Condor Competition Soaring Simulator" which works very nice on my system. But, FS9(FS2004) goes very very very slow on the ground....It is too slow to control the aircraft and taxi out to the gates.I would pop out of the R/W because its too slow....Once I'm in the air, FS9 works like a charm with medium settings for FS9.I also tweaked around with the nVidia Forceware driver settings and tried the FS9 settings, and other settings, but speed on the ground was always slow. I tried nHnacer, and this didn't help either..I tried lowest possible settings for FS9 and it is still un-playable on the ground....I just need some training on the …

I haven't seen anyone else with this issue. I'm running the following configuration:Asus P5N32-SLI Premium MoboWindows Vista Basic 64-BitIntel Core 2 Duo E66008GB DDR2-800 Memory(3) GeForce 7950 512MB Graphics CardsWestern Digital Raptor (OS)Hitachi Deskstar T7K500 (FSX)3 x Sony 17" LCD's2 x Dell 19" Widescreen LCD'sI'm running 5 monitors on the 3 video cards. The system boots fine and the multimonitor config is setup perfectly in windows. When I fire up 4 of the monitors in FSX everything runs beautifully. It doesn't matter the combination of monitors (Dell, Sony) or even if I have the 4 hooked up to 3 different graphics cards. It runs rock stable. As soon as I add the 5t…

Since I don't plan on more than a 410 or so Mhz FSB, what do you think of this stuff at $255? Hi everyone...I am new here and am building a system for FS9/FSX with one real goal:I want to fly at 1080p on my 52" Aquos. To that end, here's my spec so far (parts either in hand or on the way)...-Dell Precision t3400 case, MB, 525w power supply-Intel Q6600 G0 SLACR (would like to pad mod for 1333fsb/3.0Ghz)-Nvidia 8800GT (possibly 2 in SLI if needed for the resolution)-4gb 800mhz dual channel RAM (corsair XMS)So, I need to pick up some drives, and a tasty Saitek yoke and pedals setup. Any advice on the drives? I was thinking of Barracuda 7200.11s, or perhaps just picking up any 32mb cache sata drives to get going. Is anyone here running FS9/FSX at 1080p (or at 1900x1…

I was looking for opinions on the difference between the Nvidia GeFrce 8800 GT and GTX. Is there a considerable difference an is it worth the extra money for the GTX. Also does SLI make any difference in FSX.

Hi,Was wondering if anybody was able to succesfully fix this know issue. There's actually, a KB for it: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...&DisplayLang=enSupposed to be a Vista problem running FSX.The problem for those who are not aware is:I am running FSX using two monitors of different resolutions. 22" and 17" The 22" serves as my main monitor the 17" serves as my view out the right window. I set this up by choosing a new window and choosing VC and drag over to my 17" (right) and expand to full size 1280x102422" is set to 1680x1050. They both work great in VC mode. However, when you take the main to 2D mode the screen is unreadable and flickers. I tried to…

Just in case someone else runs into this issue. I have a:geForce 7900 GS KO 256MB and,geForce 8600 GTS 512MBSLI disabled.Trying to run three monitors. Vista-32 had no problems displaying all three monitors. However, FSX would not load and crashed everytime. Tried for days to figure out the problem. Well, to fix it I had to purchase another:geForce 8600 GTS 512mbOnce I replaced the geForce 7900 with the new card, FSX had no problems loading. So, I have drawn the conclusion that different nvidia series is a problem in FSX and Vista-32. Maybe someone knows how to get around this but I could not figure it out. Hope this helps someone...because it drove me crazy and I was very …

Apologies to the Bard :-)I have two HD in my system. One for the OS and the other partitioned two ways with FSX on the outer and FS9 on the inner.I've read that it's better to turn off indexing on the FS drive as the Date Last Accessed is written to each file read by FS. Seems logical enough. But since I bought Ultimate Defrag there's an option in it to separate infrequently accessed files and to Archive them to the innermost part of the HD. That logic sounds fine because if you never fly in South America for example those files would be placed well away from those regularly accessed. When you fly in your normal areas those BGLs would be on the outer (fastest) part of the …

Sorry to be still confused about this, I'm having a new system built with 2 x hard drives, 1 x 150gb Raptor and 1 x 500gb Seagate, from the posts I have read its seems that I should install FSX on one drive and the O/s on the other? The guy who is building the system is suggesting that the O/s being Vista 64 should be on the WD Raptor which will in his view make the system faster but I think he's wrong. I wanted FSX on the Raptor due to its access speed. Am I correct in this? Also how should the drives be designated "C" or "D" or doesn't it matter. Really would appreciate some help on this one. thanks

A year and a half ago, I built a new box based on Core2Duo E6600, GIGABYTE GA-965P-DS3 LGA 775 motherboard, and Win XP Pro. Now have 8800GT video and 4 Gb 800MHz RAM from OCZ. Haven't tried overclocking yet, although I purchased an Arctic Freezer 7 last summer. (Still haven't installed it; last time I reinstalled the stock cooler, in hopes that better goo would lower temps, it took all afternoon to get everything back together and at the end of it all my temps were the same. I know better what I'm doing now, but the memory of that wasted afternoon still haunts me.)Any thoughts on a smart upgrade for the CPU?I'm thinking US$200-300, although for the upper end of that range…

I'm about to buy a yoke/ pedals.I've heard that Saitek feels more realistic, but has some software issues. CH is more reliable, but not as well built.Should I get the same brand rudder pedals as the yoke that I buy or does it not matter? Thanks.

I am using Windows XP and FS9 with many add-ons. My question is, how much difference will CL 4-4-4-12 make over 5-5-5-15 (with everything else being equal? If not in FS, where do such speed advantages show up? Also, is 4Gb overkill using XP? I know XP won't utilize all 4Gb, but it will utilize more than 2 Gb (with 4GB installed) Are there any advantages of having more the 2Gb of RAM using XP in any application? Thanks in advance.RH

Hi, captains! The time has finally come for me to get a new PC. My present set is already almost four-year old. After reading hundreds of hardware/software-related posts, seeing other simmers' screenshots with high FPS counter, getting blurry ground textures on every flight, suffering system freezes once it gets hot outside plus seeing all these previewed great addons to come and buy, I can no more stand my PC. I'm even quite close to having my wife convinced that it is a necessary expense. ;)Recenty there has been an interesting discussion on Aerosoft forum about buying new equipment. The advise was not to buy expensive high-end equipment if someone is still planning to u…

Hi,The new RXP GNS WAAS uses the Garmin 32 bit trainer. As I understand it, the trainer memory is constantly updated drawing data from the FSX hard drive. This isn't an RXP issue, but the design of the trainer. Jean-Luc is well aware of the issue and may have a trick or two up his sleeve to move the trainer memory to a USB drive, as an example. As soon as the Garmin 430/530 power is switched on, my hardrive access light goes solid. It will remain that way until either I turn off the Garmin unit or exit FSX. How much of a concern should I have for continuous disc access for modern hard drive equipment? I fly several hours a day and have gotten to the point where I cover…

Hi Gang! OK, I have 2 19" CRTs and 1 17" LCD. My main rig is listed below, in addition to that I have:P4 3.0 GHz on FIC Intel 865 MOBOXFX 7950GT 512MB at AGP 8x2 GBs PC-2700 RAMandP4 2.0 GHzXFX 7600GT 256MB2 GBs PC-2100 RAMI want to use the 19" CRTs side-by-side with the 17" LCD above them.I'd like to utilize the spare computers as in a Wideview config. However, I'm not sure whether Wideview will work for what I want to do. Plus I can't afford to buy 2 more copies of FSX right now. So, I'm wondering if TH2G is the route I should pursue.I'd like to have the Captain's Panel in the left monitor; FO Panel in the right monitor and the overhead panel in the 17" LCD up top. I'd…

I found at Toms Hardware this test over a 3850 AGP videocard and also with FSX. http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/ati-ag...0-agp,1939.htmlFor me it was very interesting since I have a similary CPU and a 6600GT which was also used in the test. But there are some differences from what would apply for me1) They used VISTA2) They used FSX with no AA3) They had 2 Gb RAMI would like to know what conclusions could be drawn for this regarding FS9 instead of FSX and with 4*AA and also with Win XP instead of Vista and with 1 Gb RAM instead of 2 Gb. Is FS9 equally CPU intensive as FSX?In the test you see the 6600GT clearly weaker in other games but in FSX the difference is much le…

Hi all,I have had this problem forever now and now come asking for help on possible ways to fix it.I have never been able to have nice Antialiasing on my GeForce 7950GT 256Mb SLi (Yes, 2 of them, SLi-Mode ON) set-up. They are packaged by BFG-Tech.I have searched around the forum here and haven't come up with anything regarding my specific card, but I found tips on changing drivers and trying to use nHancer with no success. Antialiasing is UN-checked inside of FS2004 and I have tried every setting from 2x all the way up through 16xSLi in the driver settings with no luck. What is weird, is contrary to past experiences, I have better Antialiasing with it checked "ON" in the …

I was pretty excited when FSX came out. Although my old desktop would not operate it too well, I had a master plan that frankly, has blown up in my face.I purchased a new custom notebook that I figured would get me through the next couple of years and even maybe beyond, but now I realize I may be just kidding myself! The notebook is equipped with an Intel T7400 at 2.16 GHZ OC'd to 2.5. I'm pushing 3 GB's of RAM and have a NVidia GEforce Go 7950 GTX video card. The driver version is 6.14.11.6751, which is the newest I have found without being a Beta version.FSX and FSX with SP1 was pretty fair, but I wanted it all. I purchased and installed FSX Acceleration, kept everything…
