Help Using the AVSIM Forums

Hi, I was wondering if you could make the forum show when you joined AVSIM like before the update. Thank you.

When downloading the first file of a visit (using Windows Internet Explorer 8), I get kicked back to the main page and have to reselect "File Library" and start over again. The second time works OK. Is this just my browser or a problem with the web site?Also a request - since I only look for new FSX files, would it be possible for the default view to be by time so that I do not have to switch views to view the latest files?Thanks very much for maintaining this much-used web site.Dave Hinson

Hey folks,just a quick question here - when I type in a term in the forum search and the system comes up with results, there might be threads covering several dozen pages (yeah pages of replies, not single replies). Actually I thought the search form should find things for me but I feel I now have to search in those dozens of pages on my own, for the highlighted search term. Know what I mean? I think I'm seriously missing something here.Thanks for any explanation.

Hello, folks! Somehow, I've accidentally screwed up the nice auto - phone view that you guys have in place, on my Android 2.2 phone. I remember hitting something on the browser screen's lower left corner and - *poof* - I was in that desktop view mode that's so hard to see on a smart phone. Can anyone tell me what I've done wrong, or how to get that great "phone specific" view so I can go back to reading the forums in my very, very boring meetings?Thank you!Chuck

I've noticed that the Aviation News RSS Feed board has not updated itself at all since May 22, I assume this is just a bug?

Hi AllI want to use my VA's signature which updates with my hours on the AVSIM forums, but can't because one side is greater than 68 pixels (75)Does anyone know a way around this? The signature is dynamic and so automatically updates based on my PIREP's.I can host things on my own domain, is there any way i can resize so it's only 68px and then host on my site, and it will still update automatically?Thanks in advanceMartin

Can some one tell me where to go to get the fix for Vista 32 bit. I installed the X52 and can't get the profiler to work. Subsequently , the only thing that works is the Joy stick and throttle. Can't get non of the buttons or anything to work. I tried the Saitek site and it comes back that the server is down. HELP !!! I'm trying to fly the CFS2 program.

I have had some problems on my machine and I have just installed Malwarebytes anti virus. Since then, every time I access Avsim and every time I cklick on a link within the site I get a message saying :"Malwarebytes successfully blocked access to a potentially malicious website: 209.8.161.216"As well as this I no longer can see any icons, images etcIs it me ? I tried changing my email address (currently listed as [email protected]), to which I no longer have access, to an older email address that I've been able to regain use of (******@comcast.net). It would seem it would take an admin to manually change the database record (I know there must be a ton of them). Are there any hints or tips anyone might be able to share? I've already tried logging in under the comcast account only to find it doesn't work, even after going through the process of getting the password reset. HI all, I have been out of the FS areana for along time (around 18) months but trying to get back slowly by looking at forums and genning up on the news and developments. Just one thing relating to AVSIM, I sued to have a forum and library account but neither seem to work? Are they deleted after a set time and do I need to use new ones? CheersNick

Hi; In the last few days, several times I've gotten SQL errors when browsing the forums. It's a pink-and-white error message that says it's an SQL issue and not an issue with the bulletin board software. It seems to go on for a few minutes then corrects itself. It did it again this morning from ~11:30 - 11:35 EDT. Ok, let me see if I can describe this...First I do a forum search and I get a list of results. That part works fine. Then I select one item on the list and I'm taken to another page with the thread I selected. Now, the problem is that I can't get back to the page with all the results of my search. If I hit the back button on the browser I just get a message saying the page I'm trying to access has expired. So, after looking at just one result I have to do the search all over again.This happens every day and every time I do a search. I'm using Vista and just got the new version of Internet Explorer, it did the same thing with the previous version of Internet Explorer…

Is anyone else having problems signing into the forum, all I get is the error below, I've had to resort to using Tapatalk on the iPad as its the only way to get on the forum without getting the below error.

"Topics must be started with an included image. Opening messages without an image will be removed. "I do not understand this rule. In particular my replies on the Radar Contact forum as a beta tester/support person often include extracts from non-copyrighted IFR plates. Hi, I have not been to the forum for some time but noticed now that many ( or most or all ?? ) posts end with an external link "Click here for more information." Clicking on this link, while I am logged in, I always get an 404 error: NOT FOUND The requested URL /viewdownload.php was not found on this server. I am using Firefox.So what is the link good for? Over at the Aerosoft Forum they got a plug-in called Tapatalk (http://www.tapatalk.com/). It makes it possible to go to forums on iPhones, Androids and Blackberrys. Any chance of seeing that here?

Hi, it's been awhile since I've downloaded anything, but went in today and found an airplane I wanted to download. Saw the page requesting donations, and as I haven't done so in the past I thought it was a good time.
