Help Using the AVSIM Forums

I had not logged onto Avsim in a while and when I did you have this new format. If Firefox I get NO Start New Topic buttons....and this is on two computers I have. In IE and Chrome I get little pictrues (like the image is missing) on all buttons. In order to make this post I had to mouse over every missing button and read the description to find out how to create a new topic. Do you have any idea of what is going on? Thanks for your help.

Hi there,perhaps I haven't got it right yet but I cannot login to the library anymore. As you see I am registered and use the forums. But accessing the new library presents me with an error ("Login Unsuccessful"). When I try to retrieve my password or try to register again, the system does not want to help me because my email address is already in use...How can I access the new library and the forums with a single user name, PW and email address again?Thanks for help.Christian

I'm trying to search for USER32.dll (indeed not a good sign, the damn sim is crashing...), but the search feature seems to change that into user32dll, regular and advanced search, quotes, no quotes.Maybe it's me, but user32dll is not the same as USER32.dll...:Thinking:

Hi Avsim forum staff,I´ve actually problems with my sig. After I had to change something in the signature, the proramm toled me, that the picture was too big, which was indeed a little bit too bing, but it worked the time before without any problems. Than I resized it, uploaded it to photocucket and copied the IMG link as I did before. Now the programm keeps telling me that the pictue is too big, allothough is has been resized to 264x68.Did I do somethging wrong or is there an system issue? Any help is appreciated.

I have a question with regards to sig banners and allowances with respect to size. On January 7, 2011 I tried to upload my banner which was approx 370x68 (under 20k in size) and received an error message stating the file was too large in size (limit of 400x68). There used to be a spinbox near the bottom of each page allowing one to choose between the standard board format and the mobile format. I was happily using the mobile version, which was dial-up friendly, had a decent search function where you could actually limit your searches to specific forums, and lacked the client side bloatware that brings a 2.7 gHz machine with 3 G of memory to it's knees and crashes IE7 more often than not, never mind being completely prohibitive on the 1.7 gHz Celeron machine I use at work.The problem is that I was in mobile mode when the option was taken away and now I can't get back. When I go to "My Profile" I get a bunch of tabs like Links and Files. What are they for and how do I add things to them?

It appears that search database doesn't update with recent posts. -If you try to perform a search of a very often used keyword, like "aerosoft" or "pmdg", the most recent results it returns are from 14th September. You may get threads that were updated recently, but search points to posts made on 14th September.-if you try to search by users posts, you also won't get his recent posts, latest are those from around september. I posted this suggestion a number of months ago but apparently none of the staff saw it as there was never any feedback one way or the other.So I will try once again.The Tips and Tricks forum is currently a sub-forum of FSX - but it is designed for posting of T and T's for both versions of FS.Might it be possible to make this a stand alone forum rather than a subforum of FSX ?Where it is located now means that many simmers - especially newbies - will likely never discover the forum and find useful information.Hope the powers that be will seriously consider a move, if it is technically feasible.

When I go to logon the first box is labled email address, the second password.But If I enter my email address It doesn't logon.If I use my username it works ok.Have you got the labels wrong or am I being thick.(Its caught me out twice now resulting in password resets both times)

there is a nice option in Control Panel called 'Manage Notes'. it says, "You may store post snippets, or any other information you need to keep here".however, I can't see any controls which would allow to insert any content there.

Hello,I have used the AVSIM forums since 2004. I usually do a quick search using my forum username (Byrna) and a recent date range like the past week or more recent. I am consistently missing many search results and in fact, I get "no results found" when searching for threads where I know I made a posting in the past few days.I have cleared my cookies but I am stumped as to what is going on. Same problem occurs whether using Firefox 3.6.10 or Internet Explorer 8 Can someone from the AVSIM forum admin/moderators help?Thanks in advance.John
