Help Using the AVSIM Forums

Here's something no one's heard before....a stupid question. I don't have the time or desire to scout all over Hell's Half Acre looking. I'm using the Windows 8 Developer Preview edition on my PC ( since October/11) and tried downloading Microsoft's Flight Simulator demo version. It's not compatible....yet. I downloaded the Flight Gear edition ( 2.4.0 ? ) yesterday, installed it but can anyone tell me where I can find the directions on how it works and how to use it ?...with a joystick, too ? I love the TeamSpeak3 idea!!! I hope AVSIM can setup a nice chat room there where instead of typing, people can just talk.Great idea!! :clapping:

For some strange reason i cannot log in using my main account comes up with user name or password invaild so i do the password recovery thing type in the details i get in the email and same thing HELP.

Something weird is going on with the forums. If I hit the letter "q" the letter "a" comes up...and those aren't the only ones messed up, what's going on?

Before purchasing an FS product, I normally like to browse the various forums about the product - see what folks are having issues with, what they like, what they don't like.I'm surprised to find that the Unofficial ORBX forum is the only commercial product support forum I cannot browse on Avsim.Why?

This month I purchased two planes through the AVSIM store, the Bushhawk and the Quesr Kodiak. I have loaded these planes on a Windows Vista system and a Windows 7 system. Neither planes work. The exterior of the planes appear invisible. I understand from some forums that it may be a problem with Microsoft Directx. They tell you to go back to Directx 9. That's not ppossible in Windows 7 because I'm told the function is now embedded in the system.But After complaining to the AVSIM store twice for help I get NOTHING. Forum Users:Ever since AVSIM (*and many other sites who use IPBoard) switched to this new version of the forum software, I had lost the squiggly red-underline spellchecking feature which Firefox has so faithfully provided. Other browsers seemingly had no issues, but something went bad for Firefox users after IPBoard got updated.Here's a fix which worked for me, and might work for you if you have the same issue. Filtering the membership list not longer works for me. I chose the values I want but when I click the Apply Filters button I'm returned to the forum home page.I use Win7 64 bit and this occurs with both IE 9 and Firefox 9.

I'm unable to sign in with either Chrome or Firefox (the sign-in box doesn't open), but I can with IE. I do have script-blockers installed on those two, but with AVSIM's site permitted.Any ideas or suggestions appreciated. Thanks.

I am sorry to say that I broke down and set my account to ignore 2 members of the Avsim forum system. I hate to do that, but there is just too much negativity, and I am here for fun, not to read other people's hate and rants.The Ignore function does block the user's post, but it seems not always, as I still see some of their subsequent ravings. And it does not block their comments when they are quoted, so, one way or another, I still see their rudeness.So, the forum software does not completely block the users.Best regards.Luis

Since the forum system has been reorganized, I cannot access them on my laptop. I get the banner and top of page menu OK but clicking on any item (forums, classified, groups...) brings a blank page and a "Error on page" message.I have no problem on my other PC.I suspect some security setting needs to be changed but before messing up with internet options, I wonder if someone could provide some pointer? Is anything done differently now in the menu system?I use Win XP with IE8.Thanks for your help

Recently I had to install Mozilla Firefox 9 on my Windows XP computer because I can't use the forums at all using IE8. I got too many Javascript errors and the pages wouldn't load. I've always been able to use the main site (www.avsim.com) just fine! I thought I might let you know and anyone else who might be getting a little fed up with the MS crew! Hi, I try to find my way how to load this image on forum. I need it to my first thread.But this image is not loaded into my library (my files) so I cannot to get it to my first thread.... So anybody help with this?

Is there a way to set the number of posts I can view per page? I want to increase the number. The only post I found similar with instructions was dated 2008 and I believe it was for the old forums.Thx,Clutch
