Help Using the AVSIM Forums

hey guys, im trying to upload an .xls worksheet to my fourm post and it say "You aren't permitted to upload this kind of file", i also tried uploading in a rar zip...that as well did not work...any ideas?

i was very pleased to see you have a screenshot roll going across the top of the forums. I have yet to find out how you can create an album or where you can upload to that feed. i checked in my content are in my usercp but nowhere is there a place to add and album or add screenshots, was wondering if anyone could help me!!

Every day, my inbox gets anywhere from 40-60 emails each day, 99.98% of them being from AVSIM from topics I've subscribed to. I see this at the bottom of the emails I get: How do I turn the highlighted feature above on? I went on my control panel, and on the little drop down, is it "Daily Digest"? I want one email for topic that has gotten a reply, not for each reply. Thanks.

Whenever I enter a forum topic to read it my cpu usage pegs at 100%. Is anyone else experiencing this? Is doesn't occur when I'm one the main forum page or any sub forum topic list page. I done a disk clean, a browser clean, and turned of all browser addons, but it still occurs. I am on windows XP SP3, IE8, and an old IBM thinkpad with a 1.7 ghz centrino Pentium M and 2 gb of ram. I am trying to figure out if it is the forums causing this or something in my machine. It doesn't happen on other websites. Ted

Hi, Sorry to bother anyone, but I was kindly given a gallery to upload a series of images. I log in, go to my gallery; when I try to upload the first image I get this message after the upload has completed (and no images are displayed) I have tried both uploaders (advanced and simple) Many thanks jake

I don't know how many people here pay much attention to who is on our staff or not, but we think it is pretty important to let you know who your volunteer staff members are and where they hail from. There are post that mention screenshots. On my system I don't see any links to access the shots. What do I have to do to see them? Thanks Ken

Hi, I just saw the warning in yellow, advising that users must have the forum's address in their computers to avoid problems. I entered [email protected]/ Is that the correct URL? The message to us users seems to indicate that if the address is not in our computers, we may have problems using the Forum. I may be misunderstanding this, my computer knowledge is really not that extensive! Thank You! Mike

Anyone else annoyed but me about the popup windows when hovering over the topic?

Before the update I could select the forum using either "mobile" or "full" mode and I invariably used the full (normal) mode. Since the update this facility has been lost - the forum always loads in mobile mode and selecting full mode has no effect. Using IPhone or IPad, we are stuck in mobile mode.Wondered if anyone else was seeing this?John R

I don't know if it's only me, but forum fonts have changed. Is it something I did or is it server side? The forum listing is still the same old, but when I enter a forum, like FSX, Flight etc, it's a different font.

I'm a new member, a licensed pilot in the Dallas Fort Worth area, and a FSX and X-Plane user. I created an account (and validated it) to post something sim-related in the Classifieds forum, but there is a button that indicates "You cannot start a new topic." Is there something more I need to do before I'm able to post in those forums?

HI, I wanted to update my PC specs in the sig, but everytime I press save changes it says "oops, something went wrong"... I am not adding or changing amount of text or pictures or links, just the PC spec details. Any ideas? Or am I doomed to be forever stuck in 2010!! Regards,Mark

Until recently, or actually today, I had AVSIM always refresh the page when I went step back (arrow left in Firefox).Did something change on your side that it doesn't do that any more? Now when I go back, my threads are still marked as unread.The other "mode" was a bit more slower, but nevertheless way more practical.

Okay, so if you edit a post, apparently, the Edited By: thing is back, and there is no check box where you can turn it off. :(

At the bottom of every post, I no longer see "who's reading this" thing. All it says is Array is reading this post. Does anyone else have this issue?

GM to all: I got an email yesterday from AVSIM advising me that I haven't used the forums for a very long time.... true. It advised me that I'd be put in an inactive status. Any plans on bringing back the user galleries in the near future?

When I post something and use the image tags to post images that are on another site or server, the images show up as images in my text. Sometimes I would like to be able to edit the text and see those links as text instead of seeing the actual images! Is there a way or setting or trick to edit my posts and see all the image links as text...?

Hi, I have noticed recently that when another user quotes my post, I no longer recieve a notification. I have tried turning the option off then back to on but that hasn't seemed to help. Am I overlooking something?
