  1. Mint just works, and is plug and play. Also, I dont care about a desktop, just installed mint with a default download, and voila, action. XPlane 12 works great, no stutters or whatsoever. I recently let someone build an PC, with AMD cpu and videocard. It uses the MESA drivers, and just work, no tuning whatsover needed. There isnt even any control panel at all. Use degoogled-chromium to get rid of the google spyware. Of course, no running MSFS. But other games run very well with Portproton, some even better (FO3 for example or ETS2) But, thats just my experience. Your milage may vary if you spend a lot of time at the desktop. Altough even for that I couldnt care less, but you have a ton of options for that in Linux, and zero in Windows. Mind, all is free!
  2. I have Mint also, and it works great with xplane. Mind that not all utilities are for Linux, some are windows only.
  3. Looks real! I made the correct choice. Xplane it is!
  4. I just unzipped them straight into Custom Scenery, ran Xplane12, and let it make the .ini up to date. (on Linux) I didnt made symlinks, no need for me.
  5. Dont know what you are doing. but I just extracted to custom scenery and it worked. No terminal at all. Modern linux barely let you need a terminal (Linux Mint)
  6. https://books.google.nl/books?id=vy3cBZkjbZgC&printsec=frontcover#v=onepage&q&f=false Page 303 and further. Please note: 2.5 inches mesh resolution! Oh, and this one isnt mentioned.. never heard of it:
  7. Scolden no, but can you write a simple gauge that calls: - glideslope alive - glideslope captured - localizer alive - localizer captured - glideslope 100 above - glideslope 100 below - if more then 100 above or below a cal glideslope deviation - 80 knots - positive climb - passing 10000 feet You may use placeholders, I make my own wav files. :-)
  8. Looks an unflyable stutterfest to me..
  9. And then ? a copilot sitting there doing nothing ! Thats the biggest issue.. most developpers just let it raise the gear, and thats it. A bit help during an ILS approach would help, like calling out height, or when capture of deviating from it.
  10. Indeed, Vatsim has nothing to do with it. (altough Dave may like it, I dont. Flew it in the past when it was SATCO, but the PC's werent strong enough to enjoy it. And I hate seeing deserted airports like I am in the Langoliers movie, and then listen to 14 year old kids playing ATC) The ATC.DLL needs FS9.1 update, and helps a lot. Together with AI Smooth it will solve your problems. ALSO, oversaturation of the radios due to way to many AI of course will always be problem number one.
