Help Using the AVSIM Forums

Checking this new system, I went to "Watched Topics" (bookmarks in the older forum system), and noticed only a few of my bookmarks appeared, even after entering the option to start from the beginning. Then I saw this phrase next to that option: Note: Subscriptions are pruned if there is no reply to the topic after 30 days :Shocked: Mike A.

I have just tried searching for "What you hear" and got one result returned but with only 'you' highlighted so it seems it did not search for the phrase.Have I got something wrong with my search term or are the quote marks parsed to a keyboard code, I use a UK keyboard layout not a US one.TIA

Overall, I really like the look and functionality of the new forums. It's very clean and easy on the eyes. And hey, I just noticed that I can now use the rich text editor for posts again in Firefox, which was something I had to give up in the previous version. Win! There's just one thing that I think took a backwards step: the display of quotes in posts. It seems as though they're marked with "QUOTE:" before, and followed by a couple lines of white space. When I'm scanning replies, it's almost impossible to see where the quotes are without paying careful attention to each and every post. Have a curious problem, as when I go into any forum, it shows I'm logged in and all that, and as you can see I can post, but on the main forum menu page it says I must log in to access any forum? Interesting! Also I notice that it appears that my favorite forum "Screenshots" is gone now. Any ideas?Steve (Bear) Cartwright

The new forum setup looks great - but I used to be able to "view new posts" and that would display a listing of all new posts in all forums.Unless I just missed it, I do not see that option now.Is that still possible?

Thurday afternoon - Aug 5th -A number of the forums including the Win 7 forum are not displaying on the forum selection page.The list starts off correctly then suddenly changes to a widely spaced list which ends before all our regular forums are listed. Hope they can be restored soon.

tom:in your PM sent to the general AVSIM membership on 8/2 you stated i changed my email address after signing up. this change happened in mid-2006. the address used during signup (2004) is no longer active as i moved and changed ISPs. i went so far as to change my email address in the user 'control panel'. so ... does this mean i need to use a sign-in 'name' that references an email account that no longer exists?AGAIN, my current information is up-to-date within my profile. my sign-up email address/account information is no longer valid and no longer exists as i changed ISPs.--

Hi AVSIMI have noticed for the last couple of days that when I answer a post via the RSS feed to my PC I am asked to log-in and this occurs for every post that I answer, even minutes apart. Is there some setting that I have changed or is this a new security feature for RSS feeds? I am using MS Outlook 2007 and IE8 on Win XP Pro.ThanksPeterH

When I use the forum message entry I see no cursor and can't usa any format controls. Firefox 3.6.6. IExplorer 8 ok.

I had an issue with Imaginesim's KEWR back in Nov 08 that I posted about in the FS2004 forum. I got help in the form of a link. This link no longer works, due to the forum upgrade. I tried adding a 1 to the forum address, but it didn't work. Is there another way to figure out what this linked to? Below is the original link provided to me. can I search by the topic ID? It's been happening since friday. I can't access this forums unless I use a proxy. No other site is wrong, but forums1.avsim.net is not accesible from Spain, at least for me. Ping doesn't work either, I get this "host not found" message all the time. Tried IE8, Firefox and Chrome to no avail.I'm not sure if it's a problem in my end or what but thought I'd post just in case there's something else going onThanks

I can hardly postin the edit panel: cannot insert, return, etc. I have to edit in another software and paste in the post panel. quite cumbersome. What I am doing wrong ?Eric Lefevre

I have recently started a topic in the FS2004/FS9 Forum called It proved very popular as many users also wanted to get hold of the missing WOAI pacakges. After being overwhelmed by requests from other users I decided to to provide a link to a site called "Sendspace" that is used to send larger files over the interntet. But after concerns about copywright laws came up in my topic I did some research that I should have done before hand, I admit. I am concerned that bu providing the files I might be going against some or the ohter copywright law and I must remove that post containing the link immeadiatly. But I cant seem to delete the individual post nor the entire topic…

Didn't there use to be an Orphaned Sims forum on AVSIM? Which is the proper forum to get help resolving FS98 problems now?

My view of forum has changed. (I didn't intentionally do it).Instead of seeing all posts as I scroll down, now I see the first post then a tree diagram of other posts. How do I change it back to see all posts?Thanks,Ken

Anybody notice the number of "people" celebrating their 35th birthday today? There's about 30 of them, and they all seem to have some variation of the word "host", "server" or "coupon" in the username. Not sure what that means, but it's just an observation.
