Help Using the AVSIM Forums

I have been a member of avsim forums since 2007 and when I post I am still listed as a newbie.I looked for a way to change that under "my controls", but could not.Is there anyway to change this?Rod

I sometimes briefly take a look at the latest AVSIM forum info at work- this is allowed as long as it's brief and doesn't introduce an issue to employee productivity- and sometimes in my lunch break which is also allowed.My employer has an internet logging service, mainly to catch any employees that visit inappropriate sites such as pornography, etc. Social networking is not in that same league but is considered inappropriate for the work place, so I was amazed when reviewing the latest internet usage report to see "facebook.com" appearing almost in a regular basis. Hi. How do I choose to stop getting email notifications to individual threads that I am currently subscribed to? I thought there used to be an 'unsubscribe' option, but there isn't, nor anything when I reply - simply a line saying 'you are currently subscribed to this topic', but no option to unsubscribe. I looked in Options, My Controls .. still nothing. Hi,Have recently joined AVSIM Forum and for some reason My Assistant link - My Last 10 Posts shows error message. I can still see my posts and replies going directly to the subject and looking for it, but it would be nice if I can pull only my posts in one display.(Just like in WOAI forum)Any help would be appreciated.Thanks

H. Has anyone any idea why 'non-standard' characters on the AVSIM Home page are not showing properly in Firefox (v.3.5.5)? Even apostrophes don't show - they are all replaced by a small square with FF in the top half and FD in the lower half.The page looks good in IE8, and as far as I can see it's only the Home Page that has a problem - everywhere else I have browsed to on AVSIM seems OK.Martin

I can log in OK and view most forums, but I can never view the Hardware (Mobo etc) forum. It says I am not allowed, and if I try to log in again - the same thing!Help!!!

Just go here and select one of the other views to see which you like best...

Hope this is posted in the right forumWhat happened to the forums...I really am not liking the way they are now...You use to be able to scroll down thru all the comments..why did it get changed?Now I have to click each line to read a comment? Last time I was active in some way with Avsim (2006), I remember that there was a Screen Shot Forum. I presume since you all got hacked at some point you had to get rid of it? I really enjoyed looking through the pictures which is why I have posed this question, pardon me if it has been asked already.Thanks!!

Is the forum search system down?I am trying to search on very simple and common phrases and getting "No results found" for my searches. Any ideas?EDITING TO ADD:I think it was down momentarily.. Hi.I have noticed recently that when coming into the forums and viewing posts, the replies are not displayed as such, they are shown underneath as lines of text links, not as a window with the reply from all the others.I am probably doing something wrong, but can't see it.Any help would be most welcome.Thanks.

Just wanted to take a minute to express my thanks to all associated with Avsim for the efforts you put forth in providing this great resource for us flight simmers.I do have a small request however. In another forum member's replies to my PMs, I see coding (which I also see in this message where I have added bold, color, and quotes) that indicates bold and color highlighting, and . But I only see the coding, not the highlighted text or text wrapped in quotation marks. I can't find anything in the Help or FAQs to help me view what I think is called BBCode in replies. I'm probably missing the obvious, but how can I view jpg images - showing as [attachment=XXXX...jpg] in forum posts.I'm using Firefox 3.5.3. Is it something I need to set in the Tools--->Options section?
