Help Using the AVSIM Forums

As per the title, I've sent PM's to a few different commercial members over the last few days and none of them show as having been read, let alone relied to.I suppose they either get saturated with PM's or are just too busy to read them, but thought I'd ask if they were able to, just for those very reasons.

I know that having multiple images in your signature is strictly prohibited, but what about multiple images "within" an image? For instance, if you had two pictures in one image file, would that still be violating the "no multiple images in our signatures" rule given that it meets the size requirements?NOTE: I am not trying to find a way around this rule, just asking for clarification.

Had a cfg file (14kb) that I wanted to attach to a post. Kept getting error "You are not allowed to attach this type of file"Changed it to a .txt file and a .zip file - got same error.What have I missed here? Using IE8 and XP32thanx,Vic

Hi I registered a couple of years ago with the user name of 'Les A'. Unfortunately my email address with tiscali expired and I also forgot my password. The forgotten password routine has probably sent the new one to my old address so it never arrived.I have re-registered using my btinternet.com email address with the user name of LesA (no space this time).I have not made any new posts yet but would like to retrieve those made under my old registration.Can you help?ThanksLeslie Appleton

Hi - not sure whether this is the right place to post this, but I went looking for one of my old topics, and found it appears to be corrupted. There is a MSFS Tips and Tricks forum here at Avsim - BUT it is a sub forum under FSX.As the T and T forum contains items of interest to users of both FS2004 and FSX, might it be possible to have this as a separate main forum - rather than a sub forum?Many FS2004 only users are probably not even aware that forum exists as they never explore the FSX section.Hope the "powers that be" will seriously consider this idea and implement it, if it is technically feasible.

I keep trying to change my avatar but it continues to display the previous avatar i had. Any reasons why?

Something must have changed recently on the AVSIM forum server. I used to see the good old AVSIM favicon with links in my bookmarks, now I get the default icon instead of AVSIM's. Please see below, the top icon is what I used to see, the bottom icon is the current one.Cheers,Siggy

In the old forum I was able to store snippets of info, notes, URL's etc. within my profile page after logging in. After the forum upgrade I thought I saw them... has the ability since been removed?

Hi,<Sorry if this is not the right place to ask this, I could not see any support area specifically relating to the links area>I have been trying to add a new link to the link library, but I keep getting this error:[#10L029] Unable to proceed because there was a problem uploading your image I am trying to upload an image that is on my loacl HDD, I have tried .jpg and .gif formats with the same result. If someone speaks russian can you see if there are any error messages in russian, or the website is just buggy? The download is down the page called Ту-95МС и Ту-142М

I can no longer upload images. I browse to select a .jpg and then attach it . It seems to upload OK and I get the message "Used 108.52K of your 1.95MB global upload quota (Max. single file size: 1.85MB)." But a red cross appears in place of the image. I get the same even when I try to attach a file I've previously uploaded with no problem. See the last post in http://forum.avsim.n...ile-table-1101/ for Reynolds.jpg.Is there a fault?

Hello.I have another account on here, but I can't seem to log into it, and I no longer have access to the E-Mail account it was attached to. Since the new forum I've been having to continually log in.I'm browsing with IE8 on Windows XP, and have added Avsim and the forums to my trusted sites. Cookies are allowed on my machine, and yet each time I return to the forum I am not recognized and have to login once again.Any other suggestions??Thanks--WH

Are my eyes deceiving me, or has one of the sub-categories within the above MS FSX Forum disappeared?I'm sure there was at least one additional sub-category (if I remember correctly, it was a general category regarding MS FSX). At the moment, all I am seeing are 'Tips & Tricks', 'Multiplayer', 'All About us', 'Crash to Desk' and 'Archive' - all of which have few, or no, recent posts.Please reassure me that I'm not imagining this and that we have lost (hopefully only temporarily) one of the sub-categories. Alternatively, if I am imagining it, can anyone recommend a good doctor?ThanksBrian

When I use the forum search options I would like the results to appear with the thread having the latest post (reply) at the top, but when I choose to sort by 'Last Update Time' (z-a) it doesn't work - the dates are as far as I can see random down the list - so that threads having a reply today may not even be on the first page of results. The same happens in IE8 and Firefox, so it's not the browser doing something odd..Is this fixable? Thank you.
