  1. This was a few years ago ! I eventually settled on a combination of OpusFS (Live Camera) for views/movement and Accufeel for sounds. Both are very easy to set up and things like the hat switch still work. May not work for everyone, but I'm happy.
  2. Sorry guys - I did look around, but clearly not well enough ! I hadn't been following the other threads.
  3. Just spotted this on Facebook: https://flyawaysimulation.com/news/4799/ Read it three times and it sounds like Marketing doubletalk to me. Reminded me of the blurb that came out with MS Flight. What do others think ?
  4. I don't know of a way to fix this without changing the halo.bmp. I don't use REX, but it might be worth taking a look at the replacement halo.bmp it uses. The halo.bmp file is actually four images in one. Each of the images is used for a different purpose. From memory, I think it's the top left image that is used for AI landing lights. The file can be viewed and changed in pretty much any graphics editor. Just make sure to keep the same size/resolution etc. And back up the original first ! Just read the second part of your post. The size of the runway lights can be changed by adding these lines to the [DISPLAY} section of FSX.cfg: RUNWAY_LIGHTS_SURFACE_SCALAR=0.9 //Runway Lights RUNWAY_LIGHTS_VASI_SCALAR=0.9 // VASI Lights RUNWAY_LIGHTS_APPROACH_SCALAR=0.9 // Approach Bars RUNWAY_LIGHTS_STROBE_SCALAR=0.9 // Strobes Change the SCALAR values to suit. I have a selection of modified halo.bmp files. If you're interested in trying them, drop me a PM with your email id and I will send to you.
  5. The file used for this effect is halo.bmp. If you PM me with your email address I can send you a selection of modified versions which you can try.
  6. I couldn't agree more ! The FCS Lanc has more modern textures, but is nowhere near the PD version for accuracy IMO. And yes, it would be great if A2A were to produce an Accusim Lanc. There are several of us who have been lobbying for that for years. But for the moment it seems their interests lie elsewhere.
  7. Plane Design Lancaster. Yes, I know the interior textures are dated (it's a FS9 model),, but it's still the best version of this iconic a/c in FS. Apart from an occasional sortie in the RealAir Spit, it's about the only aircraft I regularly fly.
  8. Well - one of the things that impressed me when I went to FTXG was the trees, especially in northern Europe. I know they aren't entirely accurate, but they look good to me. I assumed they were new trees, but maybe it was just the placement. I'll certainly take a look at this, but as others have intimated, I will make damn sure that I can restore the status quo (via an Acronis full system backup/restore in my case) if I'm not completely satisfied. ORBX make great stuff, but I don't have a lot of confidence in their install/uninstall procedures.
  9. I think it's probably a really good plan to plug a powered USB hub into every USB port (which, looking at my current setup, is actually pretty much what I have ended up doing !) Not a cheap option of course :-)
  10. Thanks for posting this helpful hint. Another problem that can cause this or similar problems is if the USB port is set to switch off when inactive to save power. I didn't even realise there was a setting for this until it happened to me, but it can cause all sorts of addon hardware devices to stop working after a period. So best to go into Device Manager and set all the USB ports to never switch off.
  11. You can do this with Opus also, much easier to set up than EZDOK IMO.
  12. I may have misunderstood the OP. I thought the problem was that he couldn't find a folder relating to the AI a/c in Simobjects\Airplanes. It now sounds like he could find a folder relating to the a/c, but was expecting to see some specific mention of it as AI. If that is the problem, then Jack's answer is correct. Bear in mind, though, that deleting the panel info will render the a/c unflyable as a regular a/c.
  13. Take a look in the [Main] section of your FSX.CFG file. You should find a list of entries beginning SimObjectPaths. These define where FSX will search for flyable and AI objects. The main entry for aircraft is: SimObjectPaths.0=SimObjects\Airplanes The majority of aircraft are in SimObjects\Airplanes in the main FSX folder, which is the FSX default. But some addons place their aircraft elsewhere, and add entries to this section of FSX.CFG so they will be found. Check out any folders listed in that section.
  14. I spent a lot of time on this. I have a selection of halo.bmp files, including the one that I use. Shockwave lights didn't work for me. If you PM me an email address I'll send them over to you, along with my scalar settings.
