Help Using the AVSIM Forums

I read the aviation news forum, and I noticed that there are RSS feeds for many other forums, but not the Aviation News forum. Is there a way this could be set up?

Anyone knows the reason why Wilco Forum is not present in Commercial section? No other forum exists, this is a big mistery :( Rob

Just wanted to let you know that I tried to get onto the forums from the "Forums" link at the top of the home page (www.avsim.com) a little after midnight ET this morning and only got a white page with an "Internal Server Error" page. Tried a few times with same results -- didn't worry about it too much at the time, but I did want to report the problem. All OK?

At the age of 84 it took a while to setup my name and password here .It did not remember my old log in from the old site .First I want to thank all who brought AVSIM back to us .In the past I downloaded some great scenery from AVSIM .My nickname is now Pappy.

Hi Gang.I have just noticed this morning that the FS9 forum only has one page to it.Where are the rest of the pages such as 2,3,4 etc, they seem to have disappeared.Thanks.

I first started using the temporary forum and this is my very first time using the original one. I am pleasantly overwhelmed by the amount of forums here.I need help with the FS9 add on : FSPassengers.Should I post in the FS9 forum or one of the others?

HiCurrently it is not possible to mark all messages as read in a forum category, such as the FS2Crew forum, which contains many subforums. You have to go to each subforum and mark them read one by one.Is this sort of functionality available in the forum software?-kyle

If i do a topic search I can see the proflightemulator2000 forum but it doesn't appear in the list of forums on the front page of the forum site. When you have the time could you check it out. I was one of the old curmudgeons that didn't car much for the new forums. But with the changes made today, I'm a happy camper! Now the layout is more familiar.Thanks a lot AVSIM, for the nice Christmas present. :)Jim

It's great to be back! However, I was trying to upload a personal photo and also an avatar and neither will upload. I receive an error message and am told to ask the Forum Administrators for help. Both photos are within size limits and are the correct type. I looked throughout the help forum, etc, and there is no mention of this problem. Is this temporary or am I missing something here?

Well, I seem to be having the same problem with the FSX forum that was reported a few days ago for the FS9 forum. I can only see one page.Bob

Have the Screenshot and Hangar Chat forums been removed?

For some reason I suddenly only see one message in a thread where previously I could scroll down through the entire thread.I cannot seem to locate the place where I can reset how messages are displayed.Please advise.

I am a new member. I noticed in the terms of use that it requires that I provide my full name. The problem is that nowhere does it ask me for my name. Am I supposed to add this somewhere in my profile or something?Also, it says to enter my e-mail address... but it says it can't be a Yahoo address. Well, first off FWIW, I do pay for my Yahoo e-mail account, so it is not free. That is the e-mail address that I use. I don't even know if I have set up my ISP e-mail address and don't really feel inclined to set up a new e-mail address just so that I can use the forums here.So does that mean my account will get deleted?Thanks

I have received a PM from a "mignulikz" (User 169734). It is titled "Hello" and contains nothing but "Please help", which is a hyperlink and leads to http://iefa.ru/. I use IE, but have Firefox as well, I decided to paste the link into FF and got the following, see capture. The address changed to http://sabl.ru/?partnerid=1312. Suffice it to say, I'm not gonna click on Enter or do anything else.I was wondering if anyone else had gotten this PM. I got no warning messages from my anti-virus program or anything, but I have several layers of passive security as well, such as entries in the hosts file, so I would not advise visiting those links!

Hi, Today I entered into the search engine CTD approach it then came up with an error message, apparently I had not entered enough letters. However, on scrolling through the FS9 forum I came upon a topic headed CTD approach. My question is why did the search engine show an error message when there was a least one topic with the heading that I had entered? It seems that this defeats the object of having a search engine

Since switching to the new forum software, when I click the forums tab, it opens on a new page, leaving me with two avsim windows open. This happens only with Avsim and only since the new software. I've looked for a setting but can't find any. I use IE7 and I don't have it set to open a new page automatically.Is there a way to disable this action?Thanx,Vic

Funny how we only notice when things are wrong :( Seeing as I was one of a few to post in the past bemoaning the fact that the forums were slow, I feel I should now post to say Thank you and Well done! to all for getting them back up to speed. :( :( Mark

I thought I would bring it to your attention that for me sometimes the quick edit function in the forum software seems very unreliable, a lot of the time the page becomes unresponsive (with the loading please wait message) once you try to complete the edit. Full edit works perfectly every time, I'm using Firefox 3.0.7

I would like to use the forum category selection scheme under My Controls. However, I can enter no more than 60 forum categories as a Do Not View selection. The 61st selection is ignored. I have had this problem since the inception of the new improved forum system. The result of earlier mention of this problem was that I was in the minority and thus there seemed to be little likelihood of any relief for me. I decided to wait to see if the provider of the software might issue a fix. Since nothing has change for the several intervening months I am again raising my problem. I will welcome any suggestion that may be applied to my system to correct this.Xp/SP3 2gb memory 2…

A couple of friends have told me that after they completed the ballot today there was no screen which asked for their e-mail address so their vote could be completed.Is There a glitch in the system perhaps?

HiI have a question about signature banners : very often (every 24H ?) my sig banner disappears and I have to go to my controls to paste it again. I checked and its size (408x91) follow the forum guidelines.
