Hi allAfter ordering my R4D DC3 CD a week ago (kudos for the quick service btw!) I eagerly inserted it into the drive and couldn't wait to install it. Imagine my dissapointment as I discovered that my system can't read it! I've tried a Toshiba, a Plextor, a Sony, and and also a Ricoh drive on various systems here at home, and none of them can read it, so I assume that it is faulty. The question is: What do I do now?BestGrahame (EDHL)

  2. Done a few joyrides in the R4D, but I seem to be having a small issue with the landing gear levers....First flight in the FS session, I unlatch the lock fine, but can't for the life of me get the gear lever to do anything. Press G and the gear raises, then I can lower and raise the gear just fine by clicking the gauges... But that first time needs the keyboard shortcut....Other than that, great plane, same with BT which I ordered at the same time.. :)

What a great DC3. I received my CD in New Zealand about 3-4 day's after the guy's in the US and I have enjoyed every monent of it.Fortunatly I am still flying full size DC3 down here so I was keen to check out the MAAM DC3 and beleive me it is very good.I have one question for Bill. In the static power check on the run up at the station barometric pressure(approx.30" HG) we normally achieve a RPM of approx. 2500 and in the MAAM DC3 I can only get about 1900 RPM. Our technical manual mentions a min. figure of 2425.From the data on the MAAM DC3 it would appear that both DC3s are fitted with the same engine/prop. combinations.Have I missed the obvious or can the RPM be tweak…

Just made my first tentative steps with the DC-3 and have encountered a couple of problems. When I try to move the mixture controls to auto lean they go all the way back to idle cutoff, they act as if it is a toggle; auto rich or idle cutoff. In the VC I cannot pan left or right using my stick's hat switch, I can only pan up and down. When I try to pan left or right the view judders slightly as if it is trying to pan but is hitting some sort of stop.I can pan in VC mode in other add-on aircraft I have. The above is in FS9 and I do not have Active Camera.Advice welcomed.TIA

I have been testing the R4D and apart a problem with the mixture (see another thread) eveything goes alright. However, when in the 2D cockpit, if I select a lateral view there are usually strong stutters in the image. Otherwise the frame rate is somewhere between 15 and 30fps.With other aircraft, including the B25, this never happens.Has someone else felt this problem? Is the R4D "heavier" in terms of computer resources than the B25?Regards,

Can the the cfg file be changed to show 2 light indications (without nose gear) the same as Microsoft DC3 does or is it in the MDL file that sets up the landing gear indications? If it's in the MDL file, can this be altered in next patch pls. For our new and great R4D DC3.

I have tried several times to play the videos from within the Manual. It never worked. The best I got was a voice and a black rectangle. However, by selecting the files in the directory, the Media Player is correctly invoked and the video is presented. What might be wrong with my installation or procedure?Regards,

bbbonanzaThe MAAM-SIM R4D said it loaded ok. When a start the fs9 and choose one of the 3 dc-3 I get the following error messages:"FS was unable to load some aircraft or software. You can continue using FS but this aircraft or software will be disabled. File gauges|MAAM_R4D.GAU."My computer then locks up and I can't even get out of fs9 without executing a Ctrl-Alt -Del

Dear Sirs,I have compiled a list of items which hopefully will be fixed in the patch:1. FSSound.dll error messageI understand this is in the hands of the guy who developed the module - nothing to do with MAAM-SIM.2. Trimwheel movementThe trimwheel in the VC moves the wrong way and too slowly. Bill has replied to my post on this and is aware of the problem.3. Gear/Flap handle problemsI see from another post this has already been fixed and will be included in the patch.4. ADF issueThe ADF handles frequencies of whole numbers, ie. 545 but it is not possible to use frequencies such as 363.5 because you can't select the .5.In real life, ADF's like the one in MAAM's DC-3 automa…

I can't display the virtual cabins in any of the planes and I am missing the burned-out village scenery for the Reading airport used in WWII days. The virtual cockpit and everything else works OK. I must be overlooking some keyboard command or setting in FS2004 program.Any help will be appreciated.AMD2100+512 MB RAMFX5500 - 256 Video cardErnest

Hi guys,Still really enjoying getting to grips with my new toy. This baby is so realistic and it feels like the real thing!I posted a couple of days ago about the trimwheel issue. Since then, I have also noticed an issue with the ADF, although it is not a bug as such; it is a limitation of Flight Simulator that perhaps needs a work around. The ADF handles frequencies of whole numbers, ie. 545 but I think I am right in saying it is not possible to use frequencies such as 363.5 because you can't select the .5.In real life, ADF's like the one in MAAM's DC-3 automatically scan the .5 frequency, i.e for a beacon transmitting 363.5 you would select 363 and that would be close en…

Does anyone know how to get the view through the nose perspex? I seem to remember seeing a screenshot of this view on the MAAM web site, but I can't reproduce it in FS2002. No problems seeing waist/dorsal gunners view using NP keys.

I note that in the configuration for the passengers/cargo and fuel load setup there are several passengers listed as being in the 400-520lb range.I was curious as to whether this was intentional (I understand that many use 170-200lbs as a nominal passenger weight) and what was the reasoning behind the use of these values. For a military transport carrying fully-loaded paratroopers I could understand it ! Does this include all of their carry-on baggage ?Cheers,Alastair

While I have not tried everything yet, what I have tried (engine start, cabin doors, etc.) seems to work fine - with one exception: neither the hat switch "forward" or CTRL, 8 (no NUMLock) will give me access to the passenger cabin. What I get is the cockpit overhead padding (I think). It does "hold" this view as advertised. Joystick is a MS Force Feedback 2. All other hat switch positions function correctly. Can anybody help with this?Mike

Guys,Thank you so much for this wonderful DC-3. The accompanying documentation like the checklist and manual (and video's) are awesome. You have given us a truly wonderful product here. I hope in return we can give you the cash you need for the real DC-3.One quick comment - and someone might be able to tell me I'm right or wrong. I think the trim wheel in the VC moves the wrong way. Also, it moves quite slowly. If this is correct, can it be fixed in the patch? Also, it would be nice if we could have a proper sound.dll so we don't get the error message at the start. Many thanks guys,Please accept this as constructive criticism to make a perfect model even more perfect!

Greetings MAAM team and forum!Today I'm as happy as a bugger in rugby, on account of the eagerly awaited CD having dropped into my mailbox! I've been flying the several R4D's and DC3's for a couple of hours now, and I take my hat off to all of you who have contributed to, and worked hard on, this product! She's a beauty, in all aspects. Having a kind of middle-of-the-road rig (Pentium IV 2,4 Ghz with a Geforce 4 TI 4400 video card) that is forced to do a LOT of extra work on account of me using EDimensional 3D glasses, I'm very happy with the "medium" VC option with its voluntary removal of the yoke from the VC. This makes a positive difference of several frames, which is…

Hey guys and gals,I have been flying around my old MAAM R4D for the past couple of days just in anticipation of the new bird coming in the mail. I recieved the CD yesterday and I had to do some work so I had to shelf the disk until today. What a difference this is from the old bird. I tried just taking off without reading much in the manual and I got that tail up and just like in the old r4d I started to immediatly pull up for wheels up! MISTAKE! I had to read up and even watch that tutorial in the manual regarding take-offs. After reviewing the documentation I took off from Reading like the real deal would have!It is a remarkable configuration! Thanks ya, MAAM!Wilson …

A copied and pasted message from Bill Rambow, who is having a few problems getting to the forum right now... :-( Ian P.:-halo---Hi everyone. I am still at MAAM trying to help cope with the filling of all the pre-orders and regular orders, now that World War 2 Weekend is history. Shipping of the many hundreds of orders has begun, and I will continue to work with Brenda here at MAAM all day tomorrow doing the same, before turning it over to the regular volunteers. I am about to pull the orders that have come in since I traveled up here for the show a week ago tonight with mixed feelings. Is there a URL you can share that I can use to register? I still have the original box and all if you need UPC codes or something... You never know when the kids will turn a CD into a spaceship and I may need help down the road - and I want to be on a list for future news and developments as well!Thank you!Greg T.
