I've searched for and read several posts regarding starting the DC-3 in FS2004.The only way that I can start the aircraft is by selecting a default flight as supplied on the MAAM CD and then opening a spot view. Afterwards, if I move the aircraft to an airport of choice and save the situation as a default flight the aircraft will not start if I subsequently select that saved flight.Have I missed a post which solves this problem, or have I missed an important fix from MAAM? I really cannot believe that the developer has left us with such a terrible error when the FS2002 version worked so flawlessly. Thanks for any advice.David

This months issue of the UK Pilot magazine contains a full, two page review of the MAAM package by Andrew Herd, with pictures and references to MAAM's website and (ahem!) the other place for downloads. No mention of Avsim though.Only strange thing, AH claims in the article to have no knowledge of the amphibious version and that there was `no trace` of it on the CD he was sent. Did you not release the amphib to Flightsim? Might be worth an e-mail to clarify to the publishers - who seem to be becoming more receptive to flight simulation now that their competitor publishing house has purchased Computer Pilot and is marketing it alongside their mainstream flying mags.Allcott

Hi Folks,I'm having a problem with two of my most favorite addons when I try to use them together (MAAM DC3 and Active Camera). Both of those addons are excellent by themselves. If you haven't tried Active Camera, I strongly recommend you do so, with their demo version (www.anticyclone.be). Many times when switching views (S key) while flying the DC3, I get a Microsoft error message and a crash to disk. The error message indicates that a problem has happened and it will have to close FS9. It asks if I want to send an error report to MS and I never do. The error message further indicates that the problem has to do with panels.dll.This problem only happens with the D…

I just saw your video Bill and it's fantastic. Really shows off some of the nice paints that have been done for the B-25. I'm doing a Warbird RTW Flight and have been using "Briefing Time" for a lot of my legs. Thanks for making and sharing this. :)Here's a link for all to enjoy. http://www.maam.org/flightsim/news/sing.htmHawkP.S. I love the music, you could'nt have picked a better song. Really fits the mood.

and now it's fighting back.It started a while ago when I decided that (a) my enjoyment of the sim was spoilt because I couldn't get my head around that horizontal heading indicator and (:( I've never seen one of those in a cockpit photo, so in a fit of bravery I made my first ever panel mod and replaced it with a modern HSI. All was good and I spent several happy hours flyng before temptation struck again. If I'm going to modernise it, I thought, especially since it's going round the world soon which will involve long oceanic legs, I'd better do something about the navigation and the autopilot. So the sperry gauge was unceremoniously deleted from the panel and replaced wi…

In februaro 2004 Bill spoke about a Firebomber version of the B25J soon after releasing the DC3, but what's the status? Did I miss it?Look here what he wroteHi David,You answered your own question - we're going full-bore on the Douglas with time for little else. The Water-Bomber, or Borate-Bomber, if you prefer (fire-bomber sounds a bit pyromaniacal) will be along after we have released the new R4D. I have just changed the config files to the easy steer file in preparation for taking part in the World rally 2005. The steering worked very well, however on my CH Flight Sim Yoke, I now only have control of the LH throttle, pitch and mixture levers. Can someone help with this one.Neil Bradley

I puchased Briefing Time just recently, and love the plane. Great work. One question. With the solid nose version, shouldn't there be a different 2D cockpit for the forward view? Both B-25J versions use the same panels, so the solid nose version should not have a Bombardier's station but instead should be looking at the back end of the front nose guns. Has anyone ever made a replacement *.bmp file, so you can setup a different panel for the solid nose version?Thanks--WH

Afer reading the WR2005 Rules regarding fuel burn the thought occured to me how every contestant would be on the same-page considering the vagaries of this amount (fuel burn) as handled by FS2004 and its many different (including addon aircraft) models -- MAAM R4D/DC-3 being just one of them."Pilots will be judged against a baseline set by five skilled pilots for each flight. Being faster or slower than the baseline is not a factor. The absolute difference from the baseline is what counts. The closer a pilot's time and fuel consumed is to the baseline, the higher his or her rank."Not being an expert on the subject I submit the only way to achieve a level-playing-field reg…

The Margarita Air Club (beautiful!!!) for the MAAM DC3 Passenger just comes up black when loading in the FS2004 menu. The other Margarita Air Clubs for Cargo and Amphibious work fine. I have compared the files and can't seem to find a problem. Anyone have a suggestion? :(

Hi I have recently made a repaint of the AlphaSim PBY, and in order to get a good sound for this bird, I aliased the sound to the MAAM R4D. But I was a little disappointed to notice that there is no splash sound when you land on water. This of course affects the XC-47C as well.I then tried aliasing the sound to Bill Lyons' Sikorsky S43 and voila: splash sound on the water! I looked at the sound.cfg's and noticed two extra entries in the sound.cfg of the S43:[GROUND_ROLL2]filename=xwaterloopflags=8minimum_volume=6300maximum_volume=8300minimum_rate=0.4maximum_rate=0.4viewpoint=1link=GROUND_ROLL3[GROUND_ROLL3]filename=xwaterloopflags=8minimum_rate=0.4maximum_rate=0.4minimum_…

Hello to all,I am very new in this forum and a enthusiastic user of the DC 3. Since I have installed the DC 3, I never used one of the other planes again. So I am flying around Germany, most time at 4 to 5000 feet, enjoing the sight and the sound.Sice a few weeks I encountered a "new" problem. I switched from the Logiteck Joystick with force feedback to the Microsoft Joystick, also with force feedback. The Hardware is o.k., the software is installed properly. With most of the offered planes, the force feedback effect is correct. But flying my DC 3, the joystck is extremely soft, You nearly do not feel while flying any forces. Only when You move the joystick very hard (not …

Hi all,Nice to get back into the driving seat again after a long lay-off concentrating on my RC hobby. I have both the DC 3 and the B 25 AND I am still thrilled by them, I salute you.Just a qick question for the team. I took off the other day and forgot to open the cowl flaps. The motors got pretty hot but they just appeared to run as normal. Is engine damage modelled into the DC 3 or the B 25 ? If not, will the next ones have such a luxury? It is modelled into the NAMC YS11 and works really well. If you forget to trim the fuel the engine overheats and fails. Just something else to keep the pilot on his/her toes !
