What would be a reasonable time to expect delivery of the MAAM DC-3 to the west coast of Canada. I ordered it over a week ago and can't wait! :)George "Alky

Just got my CD Briefing Time and loaded it on to my computer. I am currently running FS2004. No problems installing and my briefing timefolders are in C:/ just like I wanted. But, I have No planes, No iconLooked under North American, Looked everywhere, No Briefing Time. Deleated and then put it into D:/ No Briefing Time. No flags on installation, everything went smoothly, must be pilot error, Went to the installation page and read that one click on BT_2004 would send all the files to where they were supposed to go. Did this, No Briefing time. Is there a simple way? BShepard588

All was well :-) And then . . . I must have hit something on the keyboard inadvertently :-) But it's permanent (rebooting doesn't correct it; and it affects all my saved flights). The problem is that when I use the hat switch for its eight viewpoints, it shifts me into Virtual Cockpit mode. Another symptom of the change is that when I switch to Co-Pilot Panel, it doesn't switch, it just superimposes the Co-Pilot panel over the Pilot panel -- you see two compasses, for example. Can't figure out what caused the change. Any suggestions will be most welcome.BTW, the around-the-world (twice) exercise is on . . . have gotten all the way from KAUS to KBVO (2 flights) :-).Best,Gary

Dear fellow DC-3 skippers,I have just uploaded my DC-3 tutorial. You can come along and join me on a flight from Pitt Meadows to Kamlopps in British Columbia. To enhance the flight experience, you might use the wonderful Vancouver Plus Scenery.I have used my self designed procedures originally published in a German DC-3 manual (BPOM DC-3). They are optimzed for FS useage but do still reflect the most parts of original DC-3 procedures. A new DC-3 checklist and reference card is also included.I would like to thank Bill for his help with the English language. The file will be available at avsim.com within the next hours. Search for MAAM_DC-3_Tutorial.zip I hope you have funEn…

I have been flying the MAAM DC-3 for a couple of months now, but I still don't understand why I'm not getting any special effects (engine smoke, exhaust flame, dropping airborne troops from the C-47). Can someone suggest something or maybe it's my equipment. I run Windows XP my processor is approximately 1.7 gig. Thanks for any info you can supply.

The install program gets about half way and then crashes with the message invalid data in file. Not always at the same point. Any ideas please? It worked previously until I had to do a full re-install of Windows XP and re-install of all programs.Pentium 4 3.2GHz, 1Gb RAM, 256 Mb ATI radeon 9800 Pro, DX9.0c fully patched up to date.IE6,

I have found a problem on my DC3. It has been working like a charm, however the other day I setup the autopilot with heading and climb, when I got on course altitude worked fine but heading did nothing. I though it was a fluke, and tryed it the other day again and same thing, this was on the R4D, I haven't tryed it on the C47. Any suggestions?:9

  13. Been meaning to ask for a long time now...... Are the cabin lights usually left on from startup to shutdown on the R4D/DC-3? Are they shut off during certain portions of the flight? And also, if the cabin lights are turned off during flight (at least in certain situations), is it possible to bind it to a different FS light type other than strobes? The reason I ask is that every time I do turn off the cabin lights in flight, I get dinged points by FS Flightkeeper for having the strobe lights off during flight, because, of course, FSFK thinks it's the strobe lights. So, either I operate the cabin lights in the same manner I would normally operate the strobe lights to sati…

Hi All,Below is a quote from an article entitled "The Navigator" by Sandy Amell (http://home.att.net/~sallyann5/b29/sandy-guest.html). It suggests that, given your altitude AGL, groundspeed can be calculated quickly, only requiring measurement of the time it takes an object to move from the front to the back of the driftmeter window. My question is . . . does anyone know how to do this? And can it be done with the Bitzer driftmeter for the MAAM-SIM DC-3?"Driftmeter. An telescope like instrument pointed straight towards the ground with a built in scale which looked much like a musical staff. This scale could be rotated and the angle of rotation measured. Selecting an objec…

Have been flying the MAAM-Sim DC3 for a while now; haven't gotten around to posting here until now (hello everybody, BTW). I have a few questions about this model, and have scanned earlier threads here to some extent and have found no definitive answers. If any or all of them have BPF, I apologize in advance... First: is it only my passenger-configured DC3 that always loads up at about 1200 lbs. over GTW? I haven't yet checked to see if this is a conflict between FS9 and the model, and using RL weight figures doesn't really help, as the operational GTW of the various types varied considerably. It's definitly above GTW for the default FS9 model, but... I've taken to shavin…

  21. Some of you will have seen this release on the major sites:"FS2004 RADIO RANGE SYSTEMAirline navigation in the 1930s was a challenge. Pilots navigated by Dead Reckoning and Pilotage in daylight and used airway light-beacon system for night flights. In both cases flights were limited to good weather, bad weather wreaked havoc on airline schedules, either grounding or diverting flights. Passengers were unhappy, airlines were unhappy, and pilots were unhappy. Along came the four-course radio range. A low frequency transmitting station generated four electronic beams like the spokes of a wheel. Best of all, to use the Radio Range system only a low frequency radio and a switch…

Last year, it was great meeting members of the MAAM team including Bill and Mark. Unfortunately, I can't be there. I'll probably be on the mighty Herk somewhere.... Last year, we kicked around the idea of having a MAAM-Sim get-together this year. Even thought I can't attend, I'd hate to see it not happen.

Hi group,From what I've read, isopropyl alcohol is used on the DC-3 to de-ice the windshield and the props. From the panel, it appears there are two alcohol tanks of 13 gallons each (effective; the gauge only goes to 11, but the note says you have 2 more gallons when it reads empty). Questions:1) Are there other uses for that alcohol besides the two I mentioned?2) When I fly, the alcohol is used up over time even though the de-icer switches are in the off position. E.g., on a recent long flight (testing fuel range) both alcohol gauges dropped from 11 gallons to 6 gallons over a 3.5 hour period from takoff. Does this mean the alcohol is being used automatically somehow?Tha…
