Jim, did more digging around and might have found a solution. If you go to Earlton Ontario, CYXR on the map screen, you will see that there are 2 stations there (CYXR-CZXR), one on top of the other. CYXR is the "real" station, not interpolated. The underlying station is CZXR, and after doing the edits to CYXR to disable it, CZXR shows up as an Advanced Interpolated Station, and guess what, the weather is fine / depicted correctly. CYXR is like CYQA, 9sm visibility, and prior to doing the edits I was sitting in solid overcast. CZXR, Advanced Interpolation, is 10sm, and the skies were partly cloudy as the Advanced Interpolated metar indicated. So, the question is, can CYQA ha…

Hello,I bought ASv6.5 about a month ago and it has been working fine up till a couple days ago when activeradar stopped working.Actually its still partially working,it's only reading a few[very few] weather stations. As I sit at KBHM[birmingham,AL] it says the closest weather station is KDHN[Dothan,AL] which is 149nm away. It's the same way all over the country. The only changes I've made with FS in the last few days is some flightplan edits.I've tried all the sugestions stickied in the ASv6.5 faqs and have reinstalled AS twice as well as fsuipc[non regestered].BTW AS is still working fine.Any help would be greatly appreciated. :(

Hi, I recently purchased ASA, I have FSX, but wondered what ASX was and wether I needed it as well. ( Are the products complimentary, exclusive or just 2 different things? _ looking on the Hi Fi site, they seemed very similar....) I am also toying with the idea of buying XGraphics, but already have REX. Do I need XGraphics as well? Is there anything any of these packages that I do NOT have has that I need? I use exclusively photoscenery, no stock textures, although i do have UTX and GEX as well, and I am after the most realistic depiction of clouds, scenery and weather possible within FSX. can anyone who has these products please enlighten me? I guess I am just itching t…

Since I installed the latest 431 build over the last 15 flights at various locations, clouds pop in and out when they want. Weather changes every few secs. One moment overcast 0 visiblity next clear. I have weathert set to update every ten mins, but it seems it does what it want to do regardless. I know I had drastic wind shifts in last build, but changes and shifts were never this bad. I tried in FS9 and FSX and get same results.Win XP SP2ASX over fswide connection, or simconnect using FSXBill M

A couple of days ago I installed ASX on my Vista laptop through Simconnect. The client and server are connecting however, the Metar information on ASX is obviously not being sent to FSX. Last night when flying, Metar information for my departure airport winds 270 at 3, Vis 10 NM and Ceiling 26K with an altimeter of 2969. However, in FSX I had Calm winds, Vis 10 NM, few at 2500, bkn at 4000, ceiling 7000, with a altimeter of 2997. This was visually confirmed and through MS ATIS. ASX ATIS was telling otherwise. Now the thing is, when I launched FSX, ASX said it was connected. When tuning 122.0, ASX ATIS was chattin away, and my ASX guage was working, however, it was …

I've done a search about this here and I can't find what I am looking for. With ASX connected to the FSX server, the 122.0 comms do not come over the server side (using a headset), they only come over the client side. Is this normal or is there a way to get the comms to come over the server side?

Hi, I have ASX and ASV 6.5 both installed. but as I'm trying to use the ASX, I found even though evrything seems fine, the weather inside FSX doens't change at all and stays same when the game started, and the ASX seems not connecting nor sending and weather data to the FSX. I don't have Graphic X installed becuase it is kind slow for my computer. However, when I use active sky 6.5, the weather is definitly different in the game. My question is how can I make the ASX works as normal. I have FSX standard sp2. I think I uodated the ASX to the newest version, unles someone tells me how to check it.My another question is although ASX is developed specially for FSX, is it alm…

Sir,I cannot seem to get the Station Database Management to work at all. KGRK and KHLR (-+5 miles apart) are two airports in the Fort Hood, TX area. I believe the METARS are produced by the Army for both, because for some reason they both ALWAYS show 7sm visibility which means a perpetual gray day. KILE is also very closely located, 3-5 miles, but always shows the correct visibility and weather. I have tried everything I can do to disable both KGRK and KHLR in the Physical Stations, Data Stations, and Airport databases so only the KILE weather would show for the entire area, yet I continue to get the same 7sm visibility. I even tried disabling VOR and NDBs in the area. T…

Hello, I have never seen this problem before, but after loading a flight plan from KFLL to KAFW all the wind alof ttemps on the nav route log showed -273 and the wind was 0. Consequently my plane crashed on take off as the temp went from +23 to -114 in about 5 seconds. I am using the PMDG MD-11. The scenery is FSDreamteam KFLL.Thanks, Dave S

I have problems with AS 6.5 tonight. My plane crashing 5 sec's after take-off around 1000 feet. I was flying from Toronto when this happened (More then once)I noticed the AI has condensation trails almost right at take-off and they act really odd (They hang in the sky). I thought this looked odd, but I went on with take-off anyways. Everything was as normal until I got about 1000 feet then the plane just fell out of the sky and the airspeed went nuts. I re-booted and tried 2 more times without luck. On my last try I used the default weather built in the game and everything was fine.CLS-Wilco merge 333 (I have done 20 or 30 flights with the merge)AS 6.5Radar ContactCustom …

Hello,is it possible to run ASA on my Desktop-PC and on my Laptop and to download Weather-Data with both of them? Or will I then loose my rights to download weather, because the Server thinks I run a cracked Version? If this is the case, I will not try it.And another Question, I have to reinstall Windows and FS on my Desktop-PC, will I encounter problems with revalidating my registration Key then? (Also an interesting Question when buying a new PC...)Thanks for your Help!Greetz Wastl

  17. Can someone please explain exactly what; "Prevent Cloud Redraws (DWC Mode)" Means...??I'm having a tough time figuring this setting out? Will checking this setting prevent the weather from changing when ASA does it's automatic weather update? Also, I notice that the cloud type and density frequently changes during my flight. It's as if "BLAM!!!" all of a sudden the clouds are completely different. Although this seems to correspond with the 10 min real time weather setting (and/or flying over/near a reporting station) update that I use. Is this supposed to happen this way?If I enable this setting and the weather at my destination airport is clear, then by the time I get t…

  18. I noticed last evening that I was consistently getting the visible rain droplets/effect when I was flying above the rain cloud layers and had nothing but clear blue sky above me...I was at about 15,000ft AGL when I noticed this effect and the rain cloud layer seems to be at around 10-12,000 ft.Could there be something wrong in my setup or is this an FSX issue? Also, I've checked "Disable Cloud Redraw", in my ASA settings so was wondering if there was supposed to be clouds at my ALT that weren't displaying.THANKS

Just a thought (my observations),This is not an attempt to find fault, lay blame, or slag a developer, their products are great. It just seems that the concerns / questions / fixes that are being asked for here, are misguided, and the fix you seek, is being sought after in the wrong place, and the time being spent here on trying to offer solutions to these problems could be better spent on other concerns related to Active Skys products.I spent a few hours today (I have lots of free time, lucky me) reading through this forum and the PMDG section here at AVSIM, and I don't quite understand something. There seems to be some users experiencing problems with various PMDG produ…

Hey all, For the past several weeks, it seems everywhere I fly there is a haze layer or a cloud ceiling around 4-5000 feet that I have to break through before I can see the actual sky, this is regardless of the actual weather. I was online with a friend the other day who also had a weather program running (wasn't ASX) and our cloud coverage and type was all the same, but he had no ceiling or haze at all. The real weather report for that time showed no low ceiling either. Once I'm above the ceiling, it disappears. Basically at anything below 4000 feet I can't see the sky at all. Above 6000 feet I see the sky and the ground, like the layer was never there. This makes sights…

Gentlemen,I have read quite some threads about S-turns, related most of the time to ASA; the pmdg MD 11 and FsX.Today however I had a firsthand experience.I am using Fs-9 on a Vista 64 bit PC (so far with hardly any issues). On a client Laptop, I am running ActiveSky 6.5(build 552) trough Wideclient/wideserver.Since I use all this laptop for all other 'side'programs like Flightsim Commander, Navigraph, FlightTracker, and since I have two separate harddisks onwhich I have installed Fs-9 on the first one and Fs-X on the second one, I have also installed ActiveSky X on that laptop. An hour ago, I took off in a 747F (PMDG) from KATL for a flight to Boston Logan. Hi, just done a flight to LPPT from ESSA and using the internal fsx atis I had landing winds reported as 245/45.... ASA was showing 330/16 (was ok in previous builds). Makes it rather hard to make a landing on the correct runway if fsx is altering itself to comply with the reported winds at altitude. Also noticed the wind swings are still there (dwc enabled) as are the variance, one moment 8knots then next 65knots and swings of around 30degrees.Seems if there are any stations reporting non or odd weather they still get used in the wind calculations.John E
