Hi guys,Having some issues with ASA and FSX. On the ground, the winds display correctly. That is, what ASA is reporting is what I see in FSX. However at altitude, the winds differ. For instance, ASA might be reporting 260/100 at F390 but the winds in the sim are 300/60? I have followed the settings as per this post.I have a registered version of FSUIPC.Any ideas?

Hey all!I am in the process of refining my gameplay experience with FSX and am currently utilizing ASA for my weather generation. My question pertains to the "Visibility" settings under "Options" in the ASA interface. To cut to the chase, what should I set my "Maximum Surface Visibility" and "Maximum Upper Visibility" too?I am still in the process of trying to figure out what the best settings are, in general for the interface and I am starting with these visibilty settings. In the past, I just installed AS and tweaked a few things here/there but never really took the time to set it up properly.Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for your time.

Hi all.I fly once a week with a local flight simulation club, where we all get together on line and fly a pre-prepared flight plan and weather.I have been using FS9's advanced weather feature to input the weather required, but have been wondering if I could use AS6.5 to do this ?I do not need to supply waether to the others on the network, just for myself, as the graphics from AS6.5 would be far better than those I currently get FS( itself. An example of the weather briefing we recieve is detailed below...FS Weather Set-up:Cu (Cumulus) 1/8 3,500ft tops 5,000ft Ci (Cirrus) 2/8 38,000ft tops 41,000ftSurface Wind - Calm u…

Not sure if this has cropped up before, couldn't find anything in a search.I am using ASA build 433, is there any way, when I select FSX mode it looks in Documents\Flight Simulator X Files for flight plans and when I select FS9 mode it looks in Documents\Flight Simulator files. The reason I ask this is because after downloading PMDG's new JS41, I have started using FSX for IFR flights. I have had to create two versions of FSBuild one for FS9 and one for FSX and they both send the created flight plans to either the FS9 folder in Documents or the FSX folder. When I select ASA in FSX mode and import a flight plan in the 'Briefing' page it looks in the Documents\FS9 fligh…

Hi,During my last 4 or 5 flights the surface winds at departure airports are allways 225/0 in ASA.My last flights departed all in France.Tonight leaving at LFST (Strasbourg) the winds again showing 225/0:Fireing up AS6.5 about a minute later, showed the correct surface winds:I noticed also other pilots reported this issue. In running FS9 and connected to FS via WideFSThese are my wind settings:Please advice,EgbertUhhrrrrr...Is this a user error :( I see that the max surface winds are set to 0kts ?!? Is that causing the issue? On the other hand, the METAR is totally different from the one in AS6.5...

HelloI am running ASX latest build and I am having two problems. I gave up on using ASX1. Error You are using an invalid date. Make sure you are using a valid date bla bla bla.I am always using current todays's weather and the FSX date is in sink with the PC date and time. I could run the sim with this error message in the background, ignored, but I would like to know the source of the error2. More serioulsy, more often than not FSX crashes within minutes of starting the flight from ASX.FSX never crashes on me when I am running without FSX. It is frustrating after so much preparation and planning and the FSX crashes on you.Is this related to problem 1.I Have FSX +SP1+ SP2…

Hi,Recently I downloaded SP1 for ASA and I was amazed at how much of an improvement it was, and its reliability to connect to FSX in a network environment everytime. As I mentioned, to meet my goal of reducing the impact on framerates, I chose to install ASA on another PC.Currently, I'm looking at the possibility of adding X Graphics to improve the textures in FSX. I have the following questions:1) Can X Graphics be installed on another PC like ASA (i.e. networked)?2) I assume you run X-graphics to create the textures desired, which are then saved in an FSX file folder, and when you run ASA, is there is a way you can select these saved textures?3) How much of a framerate …

Dear Simmers,I Just purchased the ASA,and it's a real piece of art for us simmers. I wanted to ask you if there is some kind of reference ( even a posted topic) where I can set my settings more realistically ( like no of clouds layers , fog, winds etc etc from ASA options)I believe that there was something like what i'm looking for. If remember well it was for ASV 6.5 with Pics attached also FSUIPC settings.Hope you can help me, coz I can't wait to start flying with my new WX engine :)Best Regards,Cpt.Zammit

Hi,Here's the problem: No matter what the METAR report is, the clouds aren't being depicted over Stansted airport. It can be Overcast conditions, and it will be clear blue skies over and in the immediate surroundings of the airport, then, about a mile or so out, the clouds will be depicted. It is as if there is a shield surrounding the airport, not allowing any cloud into it, or over it.Im using FS9 with ASv6.5. Here are a couple of things ive tried so far:-Not using AS, just using FS9's weather engine. This works, clouds are depicted over the airport.-Im using FSUIPC 3.8.1, will Normal Defaults, and Weather settings Off-I've tried just using default Stansted scenery, ins…

I'm running ASA B433, RC4 on my computer. Sometimes I can't load a flightplan from the FSC flightplan-directory while FSX/PMDG/RC4 the flightplan accept.Unfortunate I can't fly from EHAM (Amsterdam) because every flightplan with departure EHAM won't load in ASA. In same other cases some flightplanswith departure EDDF will work, some don't.It's only ASA which can't load the flightplans, other programs works great, no trouble at all.Edward

Hi, it seems the problem is getting worst. I have been trying half an hour before getting a current wx depiction. There were only interpolated stations, I started ASA about 10 times. What can it be? The very first times I noticed this problem shutting ASA and restarting it was enough, then they became two, three now ten? What's going on? Is it related to servers?CheersFede

Hi Jim,Thanks for your help on my previous visibilty problem. Seems that FSUIPC didn't recognise the "weather off" button being clicked the first time around.I happened across Sean's thread about the haze. I've been experiencing the same thing since the upgrade to ASA. I have mine set like his (proper boxes checked/unchecked) but I'm always flying in haze...whether it be at FL310 or lower down. The only time it goes away is close to the ground and when on the ground itself. I was just getting ready to do a search on the forum and happened upon that thread. To recap, I'm running ASA patched (not the beta patch) on an WinXP machine. FS9 (patched) is the sim. I have the paywa…

I use ASA, and occasionally when I fly at FL360 I am surrounded by thick clouds, and I see some clouds are even higher, maybe over FL400.Is this possible? Is there any fix to this problem? Thanks....

I've just built a new rig, modest by most standards but a step forward from what went before. I have the RC for Windows 7 installed, and I cannot install AS6, because the required .net framework (1.1) throws an error: "This software has known incompatibility with IIS services on this platform."Is there anyway I can work around this and get AS installed again??

Jim,I forgot to mention this in my other post regarding the weather stations and ATIS.In ASA I have both "Fog Layer Generation" and "Disable Haze Layer" both checked. Of course it says that a special texture has been installed to take care of the unwanted "blanket effect" but I still have it. I was flying around SoCal near where the wildfires are it was cloudy and hazy but I still have the milky blanket between the mountains.I am running ASA on a networked computer so I am thinking that maybe that is why the texture is not being installed. Plus I sorted my FSX files by last modified and saw no changes in dates and times. I would think that if a new texture was intalled th…

Hi guys, this is an isolated incident, but i've never seen anything like it before so thought i'd post! Cruising at FL350 over Iran as I post this topic 1500Z (near the OISL OISF &OISR stations) I noticed my airspeed suddenly drop to about 180kts IAS!, at the same time the 'barber pole' on the IAS was showing 200kts max ias, the aircraft also dropped violently and the altimeter showed about 28000ft, a huge drop. Checked ASA and it was showing OISF barometric pressure as 653 QNH! OISR was 800 and it was similar story for all stations in Iran, I noticed from another website that these staions wer 'not reporting' so wonder if it's to do witht ASA advanced interpolation, …

I have ASA with the latest servcie pack, and yet again I have the white out problems when in the cruise at or above FL300. :( This happens on virtually every flight I make now and is getting very frustrating. Looks like I will have to revert back to ASV6 and consider ASA a waste of my money...Keith

Is there somewhere I can find info on recommended settings for both ASA and FSUIPC4 to achieve max realism but still get rid of the wind changes problems in FSX? I remember finding some recommended settings for FSUIPC somewhere but now I can't find them anymore and there are so many different settings in both ASA and FSUIPC so I would be great with a guide of some kind. Thanks in advance!
