Would someone having ASA/FSX be willing to do an approach to KLUK 21L with the stock Mooney Bravo? I have tried every smoothing/turbulence tweak in the manual & on forum (FSUPIC/FSX config settings, DWC on/off, etc), also have all turbulence and thermal sliders in ASA to 0, deleted all thermals on the Thermals tab, but unless I disable turbulence effect on aircraft in FSX settings, on EVERY approach I shoot into this airport, I get a serious updraft just before the threshold. I also still get turbulence in flight - odd, seeing as I have it all turned off at this point?I know there is a wide audience regarding weather - some simmers want all the gusts/turbulence/therma…

I don't know if it's AS or if this is a real life occurrence. During my climb I go through several wind changes, when I receive a tail wind either in climb or what really wonders me when im in level cruise flight the tail wing SLOWS the plane, and the auto throttle has to add power to return to my set speed. And the opposite happens when it's a head wind. The plane gains speed and the auto throttle slows down the plane to correct for the sudden gain.Is this supposed to happen? I think not right? Like tail winds should give me more speed right? Not slow me down... Adam

Hi guys,I was bashing some circuits at EDDL the other day. I picked this airport in particular because the wx was:2000 RA BKN005 OVC008.The weather looked good as I taxied out, but as soon as I got airborne there was little evidence of OVC cloud (could see the ground at all times). The vis also picked up to 10+ km as I climbed through 2000ft.On my first approach the vis started to drop, and it started to rain as I descended through 800ft. Before this, the runway was visible at all times (ie, 3 miles out at 1000ft and I could see the ground and the runway (even though I was 6000m away and the vis was only 2000m)On my second approach it only started raining, and the vis …

Hi;I flew several test profiles this evening with ASA while monitoring the temps with FSUIPC. What I saw...with several default acft and the PMDG JS41 and RealAir Duke...was a clustered group of 1 deg C temp changes every few seconds as the acft approached the altitudes for which data is reported. For example, the temp at takeoff was 23 deg C...the temp did not change until approaching 3000 ft, at which time it ratcheted the temp down in one degree increments once every few seconds until it was at 14 deg C, which approximated the 13.4 deg reported at 3000 ft. Approaching 5000 ft in the climb, it ratcheted again, down to 10 deg C (reported was 9.4 deg). Near 11000 ft, …

Hi there,Can anyone please explain the idea behind ASA Global Weather, and what difference it makes in terms of accurate weather display during a flight?Does using Global Weather still mean the weather still changes during the flight to reflect the weather reported at stations? In what circumstances would I choose to use it and not to use it?Thanks.David :(

Last night on a flight in the PMDG 747-400 in FS9.1 I had a recurrence of a problem which involves both ASA and Radar Contact and which has been blamed on ASA. This is when RC stops working and a message pops up saying "FSUIPC_WAIT cannot change D008 from (then follows a 6 or 7 figure number). It is always (the number is repeated)". The 6 or 7 figure number is not always the same.I am using ASA B435 but it has occurred with earlier builds. I have version 3.9 of FSUIPC but it has occurred with earlier versions too. After this happens I have to close RC and continue without ATC.I do not ever recall this happening with ASv6.5.I know others have experienced this. Is it being l…

Hi,I bought ActiveSky some time ago when it was ActiveSky 2004.5 or something - not sure exactly which one I started with - and I have installed and overwritten/upgraded as I have gone along, to ASV6.5. I have chosen not to go up to ASA.Now I am doing a major hardware upgrade and re-installing FS9 and my addons (I have my original C: drive with my old and full FS9 installation now in a USB enclosure).Searched the forum and after 10 pages of threads, I can find nothing on how I can re-install ASV6.5How do I reinstall it? Must I find my original ASV2004.5 purchase? Also, I'm now going to use Flight Environment for the cloud sets - is it possible to do this and have ASV6.…

Another short between the ears, but I am a bit stumpted.I can startup ASA in either FSX or FS9 with no problem. For example:1. Startup WideFS2. Startup ASA3. Startup FSXASA is running, but I never see the ASA defined weather in FSX. Under World>Weather>Weather Options in the FSX provisions, the option remains on "WeatherThemes>Fair Weather". Quite different weather conditions are defined by the ASA report. If I select "User-defined weather", it says "Wind calm, light clouds, temp 50 degrees F, Dewpoint 32 degrees F, Altimeter 29.92". ASA defines the weather with many more clouds and a barometric pressure of 30.31". It was also raining earlier and I got the same re…

There is no problem to see (with the keyboard key) all panel but when I launch ASA I can't see other panel than the main, FSX said me an error and will close...Where I can find more info ?In Fs9 there is no problem, is fonctioning wonderful...PatrickFSX SP2ASA Build 433

I started a flight this morning, Adelaide to Melbourne 0550 local time and saw what i thought was rain on the windscreen, yet wondering why i couldnt hear the drops.Turns out it wasnt rain, but snow, in ADELAIDE!!!#####?Just thought for those living in that part of the world you might find it interesting. For those who dont live in that part of the world, well it would be like a 50 degree heatwave in Greenland.METAR was 260209Z.Andy

Do the new FSX PMDG JS41 and ASA play nice together?I was considering this Add-on A/C and wondered if it suffered from the same problems with/in ASA as the reported MD-11 and 747 also from PMDG.Thanks

Hi,I have been desperately trying to fix my ASX for the past couple of days. It seems that ever since I updated to SP4, ASX simply does not work anymore. I start FSX and then start flight, it says "ASX connected!" and "initial weather depliction complete" (or something similar to that). But, no weather has really changed from the default settings (fair weather), meaning 15 degrees, 20 miles visibility, clear blue skies.. etc. I have read other posts regarding sharing and errors on the log file. I am sure that there is no error within the log files, there is no "error recieved" line on the log. As for sharing, I have shared my FSX program folder, and FSX files folder alrea…

When ASA makes autosnapshots using ASG, does it limit itself to the choices I've made as far as cloud texture settings? Thanks.Matt

To whom it may concern,I purchased the upgrade version of ASA as I also own the ASX / X-Graphics bundle. I just upgraded my computer and I am in the process of reinstallation. If my memory serves me correctly, I must have ASX installed before I can install the upgrade version of ASA. I do not wish to install ASX on this new build. However, I do want to install ASA and would like to know if its possible to get an ASA full version installer somehow.Regards,Bob

OK Jim, I can take a hint and I've got broad shoulders (LOL). This thread links back to this one and continues the discussion re number of cloud layers to use in FSX.As of this writing I am using three (3) layers and am in the middle of a (saved) flight. Tomorrow I will open my saved flight after changing my ASA settings to 10 cloud layers instead of three. I will see how that works and then will go up to 20 on subsequent flights to see what the visuals look like. I'll try to post screenies as I go.

Greetings,I read earlier this evening the thread about the wind always being the same direction that was posted earlier. I had the same experience that evening. According to ASA, at KJMS the wind was from 225 @ 05kts. The temp was 35C and the altimeter setting 22.48". This was not even close to what the actual conditions at the time were.Just now, I'm attempting a flight out of KORD and ASA is telling me the winds are calm and the temp is 43C???? This is at 2230hrs local time. According to ASA my destination KMEM has the same exact weather.I've started and closed down ASA three times and the reported wx is always as described above.I always start ASA before starting FS9 s…

Last Night, purchased and installed Active Sky Advanced on a Client Computer.Problem: Every time I click on my ASA desktop execution icon, I get the following error window:"Database write/corruption problemYour station database files could not be updated. Please restart ASA to attempt database reset."Please review my setup as defined below and see if you see my mistake.Systems:Primary Computer: New i7-975 CPU, P6T Deluxe V2 Motherboard with 6GB memoryWin Xp Pro 64 Bit with both FS9 and FSX installed and flying beautifully.Secondary Computer: Win XP Pro 32 B…

Since I have gotten ASA I have been really happy with it, much more so than the default FSX weather depiction. The performance has been really good running it on a networked computer, however I think I am starting to overload my memory a bit to much with ASA running along with Ultimate Traffic 2 injecting AI. After long FSX secessions I have been getting some weird anomolies like the 3D cockpit will suddenly get mesed up, planes wings will be vertical going thru the fuselage, text in drop down menues will be blured, etc.So I have begun to think I need to maybe reduce some of the settings in ASA namely cloud layers. What is the FSX default amount of cloud layers that can be…

Just migrated to FSX + SP1 + SP2. When running ASA on remote it keptgiving me an errormessage to the efect that FSX SP1 or SP2 SimConnect Client was needed. Resolved the problem by running the SimConnect client in the SDK SP2 intall. However now although ASA starts up OK there seems to be no communication between the program and the sim because it cannot read the actual active airport or send weather data to the Sim.Everyhting runs fine on FS9, not sure what else to do. Any help appreciated. Thanks and regardsJoaquin
