The AS16 and ASCA | Active Sky | Active Sky Next | XPAX Support Forum

Hello everyone, I’m currently running Prepar3D version 6.1 and using Active Sky P3D v6 for weather. I’m interested in integrating Sim-Avionics avionics applications into my setup, ideally across a networked environment. Has anyone successfully run Sim-Avionics alongside Active Sky P3D v6 on P3D 6.1? Are there any known compatibility issues or feature limitations I should be aware of? Any specific configuration tips for smooth operation, especially regarding networking and weather data flow? How do volumetric clouds in P3D v6 affect Active Sky features when combined with Sim-Avionics? Thanks in advance for your insights!

I posted this in the MSFS forum but forgot there is an Active Sky forum. It has been a while since i looked into this so I wanted to see what people think are the best settings in Active Sky / MSFS for realistic looking clouds formations. I found that in MSFS before AS, the clouds were too dramatic. Now that I have AS, even though I like the increased cloud layers, I feel as though the clouds aren't depicted thick enough. Maybe it is just me, but thought I'd check to see what people recommend for in sim and AS settings. My sim settings have clouds on ultra. Thanks!

Is there an updated download for this gauge? I can't seem to add the Gauge to the Lear 35. Only get a black pop up screen. Im using P3D v5 with active sky v5.

Here is another video with the latest ASFS build. ASFS is in "Live" Preset Control. This means that ASFS controls everything including weather depiction and air effects. There was a small glitch at takeoff, not sure if it was the scenery (not default KPDX btw), the aircraft, AI traffic, or due to MSFS SU15. In any event, that is the only issue, everything else is buttery smooth. I hope you enjoy the video. Rob

I just flew to Vienna with a vis of 325m. AS also confirms the visibility. So i prepared for an Autoland. I descended on the glidepath and reconized that i see the runway 4nm ahead of me. I looked up the current weather. Maybe it changed. Nothing. Still 350 visibillity. Then i looked up the current weather of X-Plane and see, that i have a RVR of 1600m and Broken Clouds at 300ft instead of Overcast 100 ft. I reconized it at several other airports, that the Active Sky weather is completley different of the real X-Plane Weather. I installed AS correctly and followed the instruction. I opened a ticket but nobody answered me there. Please help me Thanks

Hello! More than a month ago, I purchased Active Sky 2016, and since that moment I have not been able to complete any flights due to an error "as_btstrp.dll ". I contacted Hi Fi tech support, followed their recommendations, but nothing has changed. Then I reinstalled Windows, FSX with all SP and AS2016. I set up Simconnect according to the Active Sky manual, and now my simulator closes with the error "as_btstrp.dll_uploaded". In the file AS16_Log_xxxxxx.txt the error message looks like this: "failed to send pws info: error reading from pipe. Internal error: 233". For some reason today when I click on the AS app nothing happens, not responsive. I have never experienced this before and was working fine yesterday. Assistance would be appreciated. Michael

Many years I utilize Active Sky and satisfied. Recently I uninstall/reinstalled P3Dv5. Unfortunetly key "B" altimeter settings is not working. I cannot find solution and I re purchased Active Sky . I downloaded and installed AS/ASCA. I selected ASCA theme and activated. I started P3D I saw sky covered with clouds but no real weather, and NO actives weather band on screen and No "B" key function. Altimeter Settings remain same. I know I missed some thing . there fore AS/ASCA isn't working. Can you help me solve this problem

I re installed both programs when in with no problems but have selected it in FSX never had to?? Also not in upper tool bar ?? Always their when it was working? Any help would be wonderful thanks

Hello, Before all, I need to state that I am located in China and the connectivity here is subjected to the usage of VPN. I am using payware vpn (ExpressVPN and SmartDNS). But to connect on the VATSIM network, I need to use a Chinese vpn agreed for gamers QIYOU. If I try to connect with no VPN at all, the message (see screenshot) is shown and AS16 closes If I try to connect with QIYOU, the message (see screenshot) is shown and AS16 closes If I try to connect with VPN payware, the connection is done and AS16 works. Hi. I'm running P3Dv4.5HF3 with ASP3D and ASCA. I was wondering if ASCA is bypassed when ASP3D is set to "Live Weather". Thanks for any comments on this. Jeff Smith

Suddenly on 11/14/22 at about noon, ASP3D stopped downloading weather from the servers. I could not get historical weather from it. Nor could I get realtime weather. Is there a greater issue going on? Is anyone else having an issue. I tried several suggestion from the internet to fix it with no result. I finally uninstalled and reinstalled it. Now it says I am using a new computer and it say to put in a verification number but the server never sends it. I have put in a service ticket, but I was wondering if anyone else was experiencing these types of issues recently.

With AS and ASCA, rain is fine, but the sky looks like it would on an otherwise pleasant spring or summer day. I have maximum clouds and distance set in P3D. If there is a setting in AS, I don't know what it might be. Thanks for any advice. Sherm

A problem I have with ActiveSky is getting it to cleanly shut down in a batch file... without it being seen as a forced shutdown If I shut it down using the my Batch file script then the next time I try and load it the ActiveSky startup window flags an error that the last session did not shut down properly If I do this a few times in a day , I get locked out by AS till next day..... Hey every time I load up FSX-SE I get this annoying question asking permission to load as_btsrtp_config_manager.exe. I would appreciate it if I can get some help to make that stop happening. When selecting Yes to load it everything just works like right now and keeps working so uninstalling everything won't be the cure. Plus I won't be redownloading 16gb in Steam. I tried Zendesk but was faced with the uninstall - reinstall method. Not going to happen. A guy just has no time for it. Yesterday, when I try to start Active Sky Environment, I get the following error message: "ASE has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." 1. Tried restarting the computer 2. Disabled antivirus and firewall 3. Tried the repair function for ASE. 4. Downloaded to reactivate ASN after Windows 10 reinstallation. 5 layers of security to reactivate? Really HiFi. Total pain in the a$$. If I would have know use of the product was pentagon level guarded I would have bought something else.

AS says it can’t find my sim. It’s P3D 5.2. I’ve tried reinstalling and also installing just the connector. Does the connector have to be in the same directory as P3d?
