The AS16 and ASCA | Active Sky | Active Sky Next | XPAX Support Forum

I have ActiveSky 2016 for FSX and ActiveSkyNext on my desktop. Something is wrong with ActiveSkyNext as it indicates wrong temperatures. Ex: for CYUL is always indicates 22 degrees which is wrong as the temp is 4 to 5 degrees. Same for some other airports. I removed and reinstalled both programs but nothing changed. Any idea what the problem could be ? As I really like ActiveSkyNext I wish could get it right as it was a few months ago.. Thanks Paul12

Hi, I've started AS16 as I usually do for P3Dv3 but for some reason am getting the dreaded "Waiting for Simulator" message. I've included my Simconnectlog file. It was working fine the day before so I'm very puzzled as to why this has happened. Hello, I've just installed a new SSD on my computer rig and I now have a dual boot system. Previously, I was running P3D v4 and Active Sky for P3D v4 on my old hard drive under a Windows 7 operating system. I now have Windows 10 and P3D v4 installed on my new SSD on the same computer and I would like to uninstall Active Sky from my old hard drive, then reinstall it on my SSD. Again, I am wanting to reinstall everything on my new hard drive but on the same computer hardware originally licensed with Active Sky. Do I need to deactivate my current Active Sky v4 license and reactivate from my new hard drive after a reinstall or will my current license work with …

Hello. Does anyone using ASP4 notice that clouds will pop up and disappear within a second? I have noticed that while using ASP4, my weather and cloud transitions are not smooth. I just need confirmation that’s the way it’s suppose to be. Just so I know I’m not crazy lol

Snatched up the Steam SALE version of Active Sky Next. Where has this program been all my life?? I love it. Tried it today after watching a few youtube vids last night on how to properly install and use it. I'm very impressed. -It downloads and updates real world WX thats been missing from FSX for some time now. -in my case , on my marginal computer by todays standards and flying the new AlaNado 421C with the F1 GTN 750 I suffered very little (if any) FPS reduction . I recently rebuild my machine and installed FSX-SE. I also installed Active Sky Next. When I start FSX-SE, I get the following message: FS attempting to start "as_btstp_config_manager.exe Version 1.0.1.1, Config entry 2 and the sim askes me if I want to run it. I reply yes and then the sim opens. I uninstalled ASN, Cleaned up everything and reinstalled it, but I still get the same message. Can anyone point me to the problem and how to correct it? Hello guys I am so upset with AS16. I bought it very happily with excitment but after installation the status up there shows 'Waiting for Simulator' and after a minute everything closes. I rechecked and reinstalled everything by properly observing the paths. I also turned of antivirus and also windows defender. Still no results. Its alway my habit of starting every application by running as an administrator. The worst part is i can't even find anything about AS16 in the addon list on the top. What could be the problem?

.Hey guyz I purchased AS16 and installed it. Now when i opened it, the status shows 'Waiting for Simulator' and after sometime the AS16 closes without connecting to FSX. I tried some stuff. I opened the FSX first then AS16 and tried vice versa again. Nothing seems to work. I switched off internet access and tried and then switched on. Installed FSUIPC and then disabled....i tried many things but the 'Waiting for Simulator' problem does not go off. Also when i opened the FSX for first time after AS16 installation, it did asked for the persmission to run the dll files associated with AS16 but still the 'Waiting for Simulator' does not go. Can I use activesky without fsuipc?

Running ASCA Full dynamic I'm seeing night sky banding that is very noticeable. Cirrus, Cloud Textures,Full Dynamic Overcast are all at 512 X 512 DXT. Overcast Models set to balanced. Running 4K monitor with 4K Ultra resolution. I read another post claiming the problem was corrected by using Rex Force sky textures. Is there a way to force another sky texture with Full Dynamic with ASCA? Thank you in advance. Bob

I am having this issue with ASN. The haze and fog seems to always be present. I am unclear as to which settings I should change in ASN to fix this. Any suggestions?

Hi all, I used to use ASN with this. I was curious if the P3D version also had this setting? Flew with default setting last night and either ran into a storm or high turbulence, and almost stalled my aircraft. I can't have it 100 percent realistic like that as a blind pilot, because I can't go around storms and such. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I was reading about how the wildfires in California are now threatening Redding, for which I have an ORBX airport there. In addition to Active Sky products reading winds and weather, wouldn't it be a natural progression to simply start by adding smoke in regions (simulate w/ fog perhaps as an easy way to get started?) and place this where the fires are reported on maps and automated reporting servers such as skyvector (and take into account wind directions)? It would take realism up a notch. Could even add updrafts in these zones. Then eventually add real animated fire effects within these regions. If done right, imagine the night views... I think it would help …

I'm using Active Sky for P3d v4.2 as my weather engine. Am trying out the cloud textures in REX Skyforce to compare them to ASCA. My question is, how do I deactivate ASCA so that I am showing only the SF textures? I have unchecked the "Enabled Content" boxes in ASCA but when I start the sim I get the green band saying ASCA Graphics Activated and Theme Loaded. ASCA is not running according to the ASCA icon not being underlined in the Windows Task Bar so why am I getting the green message bar saying otherwise. Just want to know for sure which textures I'm looking at. Thanks. Jim

I have REX SkyForce3D, and one of the things I notice in SkyForce is it loads the weather in your location that way everywhere. For example, if you start a fight in the eye of hurricane everywhere on earth will be clear, that is until you fly into into the hurricane without knowing it, then Sky Force reloads the weather on you! Does ActiveSky include features like this where weather loads correctly everywhere, so that you can fly into eyes of hurricanes and fly around isolated thunderstorms while seeing them around you, and all that good stuff? Initially when I started ASN SP3 I got errors about the exe.xml file so I fixed that by deleting it and now I get this: I do use PFPX and load my weather by flights exported to FSX. Difference Active Sky 2016 P3D and Active Sky P3Dv4 What's the difference? Can you run them together or only seperate?

The "In Cloud Motion Effects" as advertised in ASP4/AS16, do I need ASCA for those to work or can I use another addon like REX SkyForce along with ASP4 and still have the "In Cloud Motion Effects"? Thanks.

Im sure this is an open and closed case i am currently touring europe in a carenado pc12 but everytime there are scattered clouds i get bonced arond all over the place to the point i cant adjust radios or autopilot bugs........ id rather not turn down ASN settings as the settings are fne for the heavies....or is it a config issue for individual aircraft??
