The AS16 and ASCA | Active Sky | Active Sky Next | XPAX Support Forum

I may have missed this discussion before but I've noticed on PMDG birds that AS16 sometimes displays radar returns in a meshed, grid like appearance. I also notice sometimes that my clouds appear like streets - very straight rectangular clouds running for miles. Certainly not realistic. Is this a known 'thing' or is there a setting I need to adjust. Unfortunately I don't have a pic to post, but if you know what I'm on about, please do comment. thanks erich

Hi gang. I was flying last night and got a popup window that said, in red letters, that AS needed to update the WXstations list (or something like that), and that I had to close and restart. (I think that's what it said, so I did that.) Problem is that now if I try to fly anywhere other than Washington, I get a CTD and the error thrown (from the log) is weather.dll. What I did next: 1. followed all the instructions from the Avsim CTD doc. ALL OF THEM (deleting all the Wx files, the wxstations.bin files, etc.) 2. Installed several other SF themes to see if I had a corrupted texture, and then restored my original cloud textures pre-REX SF3 3. delet…

Hi, Purchased ASCA yesterday on discount and installed it into P3D 4.1. This is my current setup before ASCA : REX TD + SC (sun and sky effects disabled) + ASP4 + ENVSHADE + URP 1.1 (only sun + sky mod). After installing ASCA I disabled clouds as well in REX TD. First flight from EGLL, I get a ground smoke/haze effect I've never had before. Also looking in certain directions makes the image go dark and bright in certain angles. Last issue is that the clouds although look much better than with Rex SC they very obviously keep spinning and popping as if changing as the plane goes past. "Cannot control ambient weather parameters" error appears every time I connect p3d. Hi, Following a reconfiguration of my system - an upgrade of SSD - FSX would not work and required reloading. I decided to move on and purchase P3Dv4 which I now have running; however, I was dismayed that I had to repurchase PMDG 737NGX. Thankfully, all my UK scenery could be upgraded without further additional costs - thank you Gary! Since I always fly with real weather, I wanted the same for P3Dv4 and so purchased Active Sky 2017. I have tried to link the 2 programs - I want to run Active Sky from a networked computer - but without any success. I recently bought Active Sky Next and everything was working just fine when flying the PMDG 777 out of OMAA when FSX crashes. Nothing showed up in the Event Viewer or on AppCrashView. I decided to try that again with ASN off and everything worked just fine. Best Regards, AbdulRahman

Hello, I was just wondering if anyone could tell me whether an Active Sky X license would qualify for the discounted upgrade for P3Dv4? I see some things that say for previous active sky owners there is a discount but on other sites the list only includes about 3 or 4 versions but not X. Is it for all previous owners?

I have noticed in my last flights that maybe i am having issues with the weather updates. I usually notice that to my destination airport as the weather seems "empty" but not clear skies..... I have checked all the settings regarding update interval and update on approach e.t.c and they are ok. I even reset them. If i unload ASP4 and load it again the weather shows up... Any ideas?

So I just purchased/installed AS16 and ASCA, and now when I try to start FSX-SE, I get an error message saying I need to load FSX in administrator mode, or grant permission. I have never had this problem before with ASN, so why am I getting this with AS16? Thanks for all the help.

I sometimes want to set my sim time back an hour to get some dusk or daylight time but I still want ASP4 to provide the actual (real time) wx. Is that possible? If I select a flight plan or condition field in ASP4 then set the sim time back and hour from real time at location is that OK? Thanks!

Hello fellow FSX:SE users. I've recently been going through some trial and error with freeware weather engines and I think I'm ready to upgrade to ASN. I was going to post on the HiFi Simulations forum but I believe that their forum is restricted to people who already own the product. So, hopefully this is the right place. I recently bought the 737 NGX and I fly it almost exclusively now. The only problem is that when I want to fly out of my addon airports, I take a big hit on my fps. Hey all, first post here, so forgive me if its in the wrong area, So today, I was planning to fly to St. Lucia via KJFK on the Aerosoft A320. I was excited to depart with active snowfall, but upon entering the sim, I saw heavy rains instead of snow. Does anyone know a solution to the fix/what the issue is. Do anyone have any ideas on what is wrong. It only happens when I fly the FSLabs A320 and not when flying PMDG AC or Majestic Dash 8. When it happens I restart ASNext on my client pc and everything works for the rest of the trip! Keld M SAS264

Hello, When I file a flight plan within AS16's own interface - does that result in AS16 downloading the current METARS for all stations from DEP to ARR? In other words - if I were to disconnect from the web after a few minutes of starting the flight, go away, have a sandwich maybe a quick nap (we're talking Long Haul here) - when I came back would the A/C be flying through the previously downloaded METAR or just clear skies because AS16 has dropped the connection. Is that the purpose of AS16 having its own Flight Planner - or one of them. Ta

When closing FSX, AS16 shuts down automatically, and I take it that ASCA would also close down automatically with it, but this is not the case. After completing a flight, I shut down FSX and then my PC, but 9 times out of 10, I forget that ASCA would object and will prevent Windows 10 to shut down... Is there something in the settings of ASCA to change that, or is it supposed to be its normal behavior that can't be overruled? Thank you.

Hi, I have been using Active Sky Next with my FSX setup for a number of years and been very happy with it. To be honest I was aware of Active Sky 29016 but was pretty happy with what I was already using and not sure what tangible benefits it would give me so I have not upgraded it. Currently i am still running my FSX setup but have been accumulating scenery and tools that will work also in P3D4 with a view to going across as the platform matures. I must also admit i don't understand about adding sceneries etc in P3D and the different tuning required for it and hence it is probably the biggest reason I have not yet made the change. Hi, Any way to reduce the in cloud visibility even less ? so that the Fslabs landing light will turn on the landing light effect ? i already checked the reduce in cloud visibility but i guess it needs to be reduced even less for the effect to show in p3dv4 Thank you !

After crash prepare3d , I cant set my weather settings as it should be, it always go to defalt. After start l can moove sliders, but it seems that it doesnt work, because I see Cloud draw density warning. I delete cfg. files, but it doesnt help.

Hi guys, My Windows 10 decided it was time for another update... But after the install of said update, AS won't start up anymore. Cloud Art will work if I start that up separately, but AS does nothing at all. I have the latest update installed, tried to reinstall the whole package, but no luck. Any ideas? Thanks! Sander
